I just had my tongue pierced 2 days ago. My tongue is very short and the piercer pretty much had to do everything inside my mouth. I thought my web was too close to the front of my tongue, so she pierced to the side of it. We changed out the bottom ball to a smaller one and it seems to be better. My concern is the color of my tongue behind the pierce. It's just a bit black. It isn't sore or anything , could it be from rinsing so much?

Hey, well actually it is not caused from rinsing to much, that would only cause a white layer on the top of your tongue. This is something else. I would go back to your piercer. No piercing is worth loss of taste or tongue infection. I have mine done but I never had any problems. I would get it checked soon. Are you sure its not the dot the piercer made? Sometimes the ink stays there for awhile?

It could be that you're allergic to the metal. Try switching to plastic and see if that helps. But be warned it may break easier, so be easy on it.

I got my tongue pierced about 6 months ago and my tounge turned all kinds of color but it was because of the food I ate left stains and things actually I know this girl who pierced her tongue herself and it got infected and turned black.  call your piercer and see if it was something you ate

I got my tongue pierced . it was fine for the first 2 weeks but i got this lump around my tongue ring at the bottom. i like my tongue ring, however, my health is more important. I took the pierced out. I would like to get it re-pierced but i'scared. What should i do

My mate freaked when her tounge went black, but it was only because she was drinking coke

the dark dot you are seeing probably is the piercing dot. however, from the way you discribed it, it may also be blood underneath the surface of the skin. (like a bruise)

the whiteness is caused by plaque and by rinsing frequently, but make sure you keep up your rinsing, its what keeps your tongue from getting infected.

if you are allergic to the metal you may want to make sure you have 'surgical steel' and if thats what you have, try stirling silver, or stainless. the plastic balls will help also with such things as allergies and breaking teeth until you're used to having a ball in your mouth.

but be warned.. there are a lot of risks with the piercing in general. i have had mine for 2 years and have recently had some taste loss after taking it in and out. (pinched nerve.)

maybe you should go back to were you got the piercing at and ask them to see if they know something about it.  I mite get my tongue pierce too but i am still kind of thinking about it.

HEY! I NEED SERIOUS HELP! guys, i am 13 years old and i have been wanting my tongue pierced for like ever and its all ive been thinking about for months! my parents would never expect ME to want my tongue pierced, so i told my friends instead. They totally flipped on me and threatened that if i got one they would rip it right out so i would have two tongues! i don't know what to say to them or how to get one without my parents knowing! HEEEEELP!!!!!!!!

if you took the barbell out before the wound had healed, you do need to be a bit careful. if you carry on as you would have when you got your tongue pierced first (keep it clean) this should be ok. the best thing to do is go to a different piering parlour, and dont be afraid to ask to see  certificates of qualification! make sure that the piercer is reputable, qualified and the parlour is clean. ask if they use new needles each time as well.if it all turns out well, jus try to keep the new piercing as clean as you can-if eating is really difficult fill up on water, and bread dunked in milk is nice & filling (just make to to rinse after). if you stuill get the same problem go to your doctor, but dont try to remove the jewellry yourself.

gorl u need to go and check up on that before your tongue falls off or somthin, because my cousin got a piercing and this guy was her x and he totally got her shyt infected and it turned black.

hey, well i haven't actually got my tongue done yet but I'm considering it i have to stop smoking first, I'i've actually done a lot of looking around on this stuff and if ur tongue is black i would definitely go get it checked.

I got a piecing last year, and the same thing happened and mine got better.Don't worry just yet. But if it gets worse, you might want it checked out by a dentist, or someone who would know more about the cause.

if you got a lump around your tongue, you may be allergic to the metal. check  with your doctor to see if you have any allergies, if thats the case, i suggest using plastic or hypo allergenic rings

i had mi tongue peirced 5 days ago, it hasnt gone black, so their might be something wrong, contact your peircer and get it sorted,
none of mi m8s tongues have gone black either

I don't no if I should get my tongue pierced because I fell like I am going to be allergic to the metal. I read a story and it said that you can change the metal ring for a plastic one. I no my mom would die if I got it gone but I really don't care what she thinks. If I get it pierced I am thinking on getting it done on my birthday. I no my dad would let my get it pierced. I am going today to check out this place where I can get it done. Is it true that it doesn't hurt at all when you get it done? I saw this one girl get it done and it seemed like it didn't even hurt. Well if you have any advice please write back.

Hey  really really really want my tongue peirced. However i am really scared as you hear all these stories of people who get all these infections and stuff. I'm not scared of it hurting really just of it going wrong

In many cases, after the tongue is fully healed a crown or hard spot will appear around the hole in the tongue. This will generally go away within a month or two of the tongue being fully healed. This is normal. Get your tongue repierced.

hey i got my tongue pierced last in June 2004 and it was just fine... the black on your tongue is just the ink from the pen they use to mark it forts. it did it to me too and i asked about it. trust me its nothing bad.

hey, i want to pierce my tongue. i'd have to do it myself though. so i know you have to have a clamp to check for veins and stuff. but i'm afraid it might get infected, am i completely crazy for wanting to do it myself?

when you got it pierced you probably played with it too much. my piercer told me not to play with it because i might get a chuck of meat from my tongue and it will look like a ball on my tongue and he said that it will stay there even if you take out the piercing. so be careful. id go to the doctor before you pierce it again. good luck

i got my tongue pierced 2 weeks ago, and everything seems to be better. The only thing that is worrying me is that i have a white ring around the piercing. and i can still feeling a little pain when i rise my tongue up or i just get the earring out of my mouth and put it between the teeth

i got too a  lump around my tongue ring at the bottom of my tongue, but I'm still having the pierce. I got my tongue pierced 3 months ago and that lump appeared at 2 weeks after the piercing.. i don't want to take it off, i like it a lot! but i don't want to go to the doctor either!:D so...i don't know!I'll keep it till I won't like it anymore!...and if you want to pierce your tongue again, i don't think you should be scared..if you like it, just go for it..and take much care of it.. maybe in this case, that lump won't appear again!... good luck!:)

i got my tongue pierced then i got a lump too i took it out but the piercer who did mine the second time said it was nothing to worry about so i think you should go get it re-pierced.

no actually there are certan enzimes in your mouth that fight germs. but rinseing you mout to mutch with something like scope can kill those enzimes. do not baby your tounge in doing so youl be doing more dammage than good.  good luck

How can I tell if my tongue is infected? I got it pierced about a week ago and there is a white circle around the ball on the bottom and the top of my tongue is completely white. Mind you, I've never looked at my tongue before so I am not sure what a non-infected tongue looks like. I know, I am a dork.

this is to mia- you shouldn't have taken it out, that lump is actually normal.  its just scar tissue, it goes away on its own after a couple months.  this lump of tissue can often be mistaken for keloids, but from what you've said, it doesnt sound like there was anything wrong with your piercing.  go get it repierced if you want, its fine.

i got my tounge pierced 2 days ago and it didn;t hurt at all. but now it hurts a lot but i would not change it for anything. i have wanted it for 2 years and now when i trun 16 i can get it. my tounge has sewlled up but i am cleaning it everyday so i hope that i goes down and that i dont have to take it out.

Hey, I got my tonuge done about three weeks ago and it sort of turned black it was more of a really really dark purple though. Get it checked out soon but i would'ntworry to much. And Mia just go for it and get it done!NO FEAR!

My friend bought a tongue piercing kit off the Internet and we all did our own. Everybody still has theirs, I took mine out like a month and some weeks ago because my mama saw it once and I left it in there but she almost saw it again so I took it out. But I did it my self again about a week ago its still healing, the last time it healed faster.

Well i got my tongue pierced last night and its swollen and hurts a little but it was well worth it. I think that it didn't hurt at all i mean i felt it when the piercer was pushing the needle through but that is all, if you are thinking about getting it done research it and consider all your options before you do it and you will be okay.

It is normal for a lump to develop after the peircing has healed. when i had mine peirced it happened. the lump should go away after the tissue has had time to soften and accept the new "intruder" (barbell). however, better be safe then sorry and go over the facts with a licensed peircer.

i just pierced my tongue myself..Im scared its going to get infected but so far its doing good..i think.. ive had the piercing for about 4 days the swelling is going down but it still hurts alittle bit, can someone tell me about how long it hurts for? and what color might my tongue change and me knowing what colors are bad and which are good..lol thankyou...write back asap..

Hey, I'm thinking about getting my tongue pierced and I've been reading stories from other people and some are quite scary and others seem pretty good. If I do decide to get it done which i probably will, is there any possible way to hide signs of slurring my words?

first consult a doctor and talk to a person who has done piercings for a long period of time. no tongue ring is worth the loss of your tongue.

That lump was just a keloid a tissue mass it would have went away after a while with no problems.

Yeah I would go back to wherever you got it done at and ask them. If they dont give a trustable answer go to the doctor or the hospital asap. Cause it is no fun losing your tongue over some so fragile,

I'm getting my tongue pierced next week and I'm just wondering does it hurt getting it done or after wards? how does the piercer do it?

I would really like my tounge pierced but im worried about it getting infected. It also looks really painful. Can anybody tell me how it feels, and how long you cant talk properly for? thanks xxx

I got my tongue pierced just over a week ago, i have had lots of piercings before though. My tongue has gone all white, but never black!! i really do think you should take it out.

hi all i want to get my tongue pierced but i am only 15 i am 16 on 1st of July so i want it done around then but i am a bit scared dose it hurt i rely want it done iv got my eyebrow pierced and that didn't hurt much is getting you tongue the same as getting your eyebrow pierced thank you yas

hey i got my tongue pierced 5 days ago, and its still really swollen, the swelling has gone down a bit tho... also for the last two nites i'vewoken up and had a bit of blood around the tongue bar, and there is a bit of puss around the top of the tongue bar.. i dont know if its infected, but it has made me get a really bad cold.. i want to keep it, but im not sure what to do! please help me!!

WELL i GOT MY TONGUE PiERCED 3 TiMES...=] & DA FiRST 2 WASENT GOiN WELL CUZ iT LO0KED WEiRD & i AiNT WANT MY TONGUE CUT OFF SO0 i TO0K iT OUT...BUT THOSE 2 TiMES i GOT iT DONE iN DA SAME PLACE..BUT THiS TimE i GOT iT DONE iN ANOTHER PLACE & iM TAKiNG REAL GO0D CARE OF iT....i THiNK U SHULD GET iT DONE iN ANOTHER PLACE BUT MAKE SURE iTS RECOMMENDED OR SOMETHiNG.....

that is maybe cause you have an infection that is all if i would be you i would take it out cause you can get an infection so bad you wouldn't even want to get something pierced at all again or the piercer did it way to bad!!!! i would go to a different piecer i got mine 5 years ago and it is fine it was first so infected then i just go to it redone and sens then i haven't  had a problem!!!!

I really REALLY want to get my tongue pierced, and I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit nervous about the idea of it-is there anything that I could do to calm my nerves?

I have a bump on my tongue next to one of my piercings, but reading other sites, and whatnot.. I've learned that it's normal to get a bump (I figured this before, because I know much about piercings) and if you just brush the bump and rinse with mouthwash, it should go away in about 1 week or 2.

if i was you i would go to that person that did mine b/c i have mine done and i never had any problems like that just dont rense it as much mine started to get like that and i stoped rencing it and then that went a way but just in case talk to the person that did it wish you the best of luck with that
