I received a parking violation for a CVC 22502(A), parking over 18 IN from the curb. I am fairly confident in saying I highly doubt that was the case. I am sure to say that I was parked the opposite direction that I should have parked. Is that violation covering the same error I made?

I just received a parking ticket cvc22502(a) parallel parking not within 18" of cirb. I was in a cul-de-sac and everyone parks front to the curb because there would not be adequate parking if we parallel parked. Plus the US Posal service consider us a rhural area and will nto deliver mail if the access to a curbside mail boxes are blocked. Is there a different rule for cul-de-sac parking?

Oh and technically if the code is defined as parking 18 inches away from the curb it should be defined that your "Rightside wheels" are parked 18 inches away from the curb. because if your parked the opposite way the wheels are indeed 18 inches away from the curb. but not the car.

I got the same ticket, and Iam sure to say that I was parked the opposite direction that I should have parked, this looks fishy!

I received the same charge.  It was titled RIGHT WHEEL OVER 18" FROM CURB.  However, I was on the left side of the street on a one way.  OF COURSE MY RIGHT WHEEL WAS OVER 18" FROM THE CURB.  But so was my left.  haha.

Regardless, I feel the ticket was written in error (should have been LEFT WHEEL OVER 18" FROM CURB).

I sent a note explaining this, with pictures, and just received the response.

"Dear Respondent:
The Initial Review concluded that citation XXXXXXX was properly issued and is valid.  Your reason for requesting dismissal of this citation is not a valid excuse.  Please note that the recipient of a parking citation has the burden of proof and be prepared to provide documentation to support your case if you request an Administrative Hearing.  Blah blah blah".

Commies.

Happened to me, too, and I looked it up. Seems legit but it doesn't seem like it is always enforced. See text of CVC below (from DMV website)

22502.   (a) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter every vehicle stopped or parked upon a roadway where there are adjacent curbs shall be stopped or parked with the right-hand wheels of such vehicle parallel with and within 18 inches of the right-hand curb, except that motorcycles shall be parked with at least one wheel or fender touching the right-hand curb. Where no curbs or barriers bound any roadway, right-hand parallel parking is required unless otherwise indicated.
