My grandmother was born in Breslau Germany also, the treaty of Potsdam 1945 gave Poland the city of Breslau now named Wroclaw Poland. Good luck it took me a long time to fund this out. There is a lot more history on this city.

If your mother was baptized, try church records.  If immigrated to USA, what documentation was accepted at that time for proof of birth?
from: Veronika born in Breslau 1/29/37, my parents had a {Stammbuch) documenting marriage and children's birth records.
