I believe I have a boot virus on an HP computer running Windows98.  While trying to access a web page thru a DSL line the monitor and keyboard ceased to respond.  Now, when I turn the computer back on, I can not access the floppy drive, keyboard, or monitor.  I cannot boot from my existing startup floppy.  I might be able to access the cd drives, the lights do go on.

I am having someone transfer the start up floppy to a cd, in the hopes of booting from a cd.  Is that possible?  In the meanwhile, is there any way of obtaining a generic startup cd, or floppy?  Do I need to have something specific to Windows98?  Does this sound like a specific virus?  Could this be a "simple" mother board, or other hardware problem?
