We adopted a 2 year old female chocolate. lab mix from the shelter 3 years ago. She was very aggressive towards our male black lab...always hurting him. Then we recently got a red bone hound who now is 1 years old and a male. She now attacks him at least once a month and ends up costing us money at the vets. We know that she has had a very bad past and took her a long time to trust us. What can we do...we really don't want to give up on her. HELP

Well, I do not really have an answer for you but maybe this may help.  We had a 5 year old female chocolate lab mix but we had to let her go after she attacked my 4 year old daughter.  We had her since she was knee high to a grasshopper.  Ashton was my dogs name.  She was always a very obidient dog until we moved to different house.  She had only been in this new yard a month before the attack happened.  I noticed that with the nieghbor's dogs harrassing her she had become very aggressive.  At feeding time I notice when I tried to serve her more food she would growl at me something she never did before.  Well June 11, 2005 we had a birthday party so we tied her up like we did everytime we had something going in the back yard so that she wouldn't get hurt.  My baby had cake on her face and went to kiss Ashton when Ashton got a hold of her face.  My brother inlaw just kicked her once and was able to get her off and she ran and hid because she was afraid.  I have tried to convince my husband that she only reacted on animal instinct and that she has only been aggressive lately because of the change of enviroment around her that she was not used to. I could not convince him so then we have to let her go and be put to sleep.  It breaks my heart as we just recently went to see her today for the last time.  She look frightened, I wanted to take her home and give her another chance but I can't convince anyone to agree except my children they miss her too. Unfortunately, not everyone sees an animal as a child of God too.  We had to learn to get civilized and animals have to learn too and we must treat all of God's creatures as we would another human being God's blood runs through their viens too.  God Bless.
