I would wait until her second heat, usually at 14-18 months.  If she is under 5 pounds, I would not breed her at all as she may end up with a C-section that could cost you $100 or more depending on where you go.

My male labrador bred with my female labrador at 11 months of age and she was 14 months (her 2nd heat). He did fine, but they can breed as early as 8 months of age.
Oh and i was wondering if it is harmful for male dogs in anyway to breed to early?

i have a question actually ---- i have an eleven week old male puppy and an eleven month old female and my mom and i think she is pregnant. we think she is about three weeks along. she is showing all the symptoms --- she has always been loveable but it has tripled to the point of annoyance to me, she has been sleeping alot more, and her nipples are getting bigger like she is gathering milk. we got him when he was 5weeks and she was in her first cycle when we got him. she hated him when we first got him but now she will cuddle up with him and sleep on the couch with him. her stomache is firm. and i need to know at what age males can mate and how long a female carries and any other info you could think of bc my mom and i are totally new at this. thank you

if you breed a male before he's ready
or technically before he's ready is before both
testicles have dropped, then they puppies
can be deformed.
