We have found a Shih Tzu pup that we are waiting to pick up from a breeder. We still have 4 weeks to go. After reading all the info. here I am not sure a Shih tzu is the breed for us. We are a family of 9.My husband 7 kids from ages 13 mo. , 3 yrs., 5 years, and then other older kids. Any advice on the breed would be nice everything I have read says they are good with kids. Please give your opinion. Thanks The Beach Family

We lost our last first Shih Tzu nearly 2 years ago,aged 14 plus. Despite never being able to replace one character with a new dog we couldnīt resist a new puppy when spotted in the window of the pet shop. Our new Shih Tzu is now 10 months old, Hamish, born and bred in Malaga , Spain. Makes friends with everyone easily, young children, old children, Mums Dads and other neighbours' dogs.   Your only problem will be keeping him/her neat and tidy, they love attention and grooming, so what's another baby in the family going to matter, it will the beach family up to a nice even number of 10. Go for it, you won`t regret. Good luck from Chris and Julia Potts, now living in sunny Spain.

I have had animals all of my life, including other breeds of dogs beside shih tzus. Our Shih Tzu Missy is the best investment we have ever made. She is very smart, and affectionate. there are 5 of us and we have a pom and 4 month old shih tzu and she fits right in with are family i say go for it to and they do love kids mine just gives kisses to everyone and she loves my 5 yr old son and he is very sweet to her and he can be rough but when it comes scrlett he loves her your puppies  will love here new home

I HAVE A FEMALE SHIH-TZU. MY BOYFRIEND GOT HER AT OUR LOCAL SPCA. SHE IS ABOUT 8 OR 9 YEARS OLD. MY QUESTION IS, WHEN WE TAKE HER FOR LONG WALKS, SHE PEES AT LEAST 10 TO 15 TIMES. WHY IS IT WHEN WE GOT BACK TO OUR HOUSE SHE HAS TO PEE ON OUR FLOORS? MY BOYFRIEND AND I GET REALLY MAD AND WE DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SHE DOES IT. WE JUST TOOK HER FOR A LONG WALK, AND THEN SHE HAS TO PEE ON THE FLOOR... PLEASE HELP ME!!!
