I submitted a NIW application in the category of academic research on my own - wo/ sponsor
It assumes that I am going to continue my research in MY field

What about if I take a job in a completely different field.  
Do I have any disadvantage to get an H1 Visa or to reapply for a green card in a different category?
do I have to cancel my previous application or send a letter to the appropriate
department that I am no longer in academic
