There are many versions but...

http://www.bobshannon.com/jr/ipanema.html

The 1963 collaboration between Joćo, Getz and Jobim yielded another Verve LP, Getz/Gilberto.  Producer Creed Taylor loved one of Jobim’s songs, originally sung all in Portuguese  by Gilberto: "Garota de Ipanema".  Taylor felt it needed English lyrics,  and Joćo’s wife, Astrud, was at the session. She knew some English, but had no  previous  professional experience as a singer. Nonetheless, she augmented  Joćo’s vocals, and although she sang a bit off-key at times, her voice was  captivating (but not enough though to get her any credit on the album).

However, an edited version of the album cut (with Joćo’s Portuguese introduction  taken off) was released as the single "The Girl From Ipanema" over a year later,  with Astrud getting second billing to Getz on the label. The rest , as I would say if I  were taken to use worn-out cliches, is history.

"Garōta de Ipanema" was first recorded in Brazil by Pery Ribeiro in 1962.

The music was composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim, lyrics in Portuguese by Vinķcius de Moraes, and lyrics in English by Norman Gimbel

"Girl from Ipanema" | "Garōta de Ipanema," sung by Astrud Gilberto in English and in Portuguese by Joćo Gilberto, with Joćo Gilberto on guitar, Stan Getz on saxophone, and the composer, Antonio Carlos Jobim, on piano, was released in the United States as a single, and was a huge hit. The recording appears on the 1964 album Getz/Gilberto, which introduced Bossa Nova to audiences worldwide.

You can read more about this celebrated composition -- including the identity of the girl who inspired it -- in my article, "All about the Girl from Ipanema," at http://sprezzatura.editthispage.com/garota
