I have an "Electro" solid body flameglo electric guitar. Is this made by Rickenbacker? I thought the Electro "parent" company was earlier; pre-sixties?

Lauren, I don't know if anyone has answered your question, but I'm pretty sure that model was not an actual rickenbacker. I only know this because I have been looking all night for the type of rickenbacker I have, and I ran across the model you described and read about it. It was a rickenbacker copy. Hope this helps. Yes. The Electro Is a Rickenbacker. I did research this for myself. Talk to the Rick factory folks. Rickenbacker's official business name was The Electro Stringed Instrument Company. The Electro was their low end line. Not a copy.  Same guitar also sold with the name plate "Ryder".. Go to Rickenbacker.com and check out the history.

Lauren,
If your guitar says Electro on a jagged kind
of modified Rickenbacker style white truss rod cover you indeed have a guitar made by the Rickenbacker Company in the Mid 1960's and distributed through stores such as Western Auto in the U.S.  These were inexpensive student type guitars that were made to get into the lucrative entry level guitar market that exploded in the mid 1960's.
Contact me if you need additional info from Rickenbacker resource books I own or if you wan to sell it. Hope this helps
