Why would belly-button piercings be so susceptible to...

I would normally say "hey, dont have your friends do it, get it done professionally. its unsafe to have someone whos not trained to do it." but right now im more for saying "just go for it." you see, my mom won't let me pierce my belly button until im 18 and out of the house. but i dont want to wait that long. i bought a sterling silver barbell thingy and a needle that looked about the right size, and im pretty sure im gonna end up doing it myself. either that or i'll get my stepsister to do it, who has pierced so many other people's body parts, as well as her own. so i guess i cant answer any of your questions because i dont know im torn between doing it myself and waiting till im 18 or finding a place that will do it with out parental consent. i guess just wish me good luck, and to all of you who want to do it yourselves because you can't get it done for whatever reason, id say go for it, because im about to, but be careful in making sure EVERYTHING is clean and wear latex gloves and everything. later.

i just got my belly button pierced last Saturday and i love it! i recommend it to everyone who wants it. but don't do it yourself. OK? that just never works. have a professional do it. they know what they are doing and have been doing it for a long time k? i clean mine two times a day and sea salt it once a day. mines still red around it but i know it will go away. i have been walking around like a pregnant women and its kinda funny. it only hurts the first couple days now mine is kinda weird feeling but no pain. it doesn't hurt when you get it pierced really. it feels kinda weird. like nothing i have ever felt before. my belly button is my ninth piercing. i have two on my cartilage of my ear one on each ear and three on the ear lobe. then of course my belly button everyone thinks my bellybutton is so cute and no one hates it if you get yours done, no one will hate it eather! you will love it too. i looks good with mostly anyone! i love piercings and once you get one you want more so im just warning you. but yeah bellybuttons are hardest to heal. its just an odd spot. they look so cute! everyone who wants to talk to me about anything message me on aim (ShakeYoTailFethr) or e-mail me at (basketball_shaka22@yahoo.com) k? ill talk to anyone about mostly anything. but keep in mind i love piercings not piercing haters.

No! They don't hurt! You will feel like such a dork after getting it done because you are so worked up about it!! Your like, "Oh no this is going to be the most PAINFUL experience ever", Iv had kids I babysat pinch me harder than that! When it was all over I felt like a Wuss! I counted to 1 and he had the ring through my bellybutton. When I went, I had the intension's of getting an industrial one.. one on the top, one on the bottom and 2 on the sides, but it was my first time so after he finished the top and bottom, I felt It'd be better to wait until the top and bottom piercings of my bellybutton healed. Its only been 3 weeks and I've put the barbells in and got the sides done the second week of having the top and bottom piercings in. I don't recommend You change it before instructed (6 weeks). I simply did it because I have a listening problem! (Lol) The top is nothing for all you first timers, I've had cramps that hurt more than the piercings itself. The bottom one and sides hurt a bit more because its irregular and fatter skin. DO NOT GET A FRIEND TO DO IT Get a highly skilled professional.. Who knows what He or She is doing! If they're good they will be very friendly.. CLEAN and smart about what they are doing. They should respect you being nervous and be very alert of your personal feelings. Most will talk to you right through it and be as calming as possible! I recommend you get a Ring when you get it done, not a barbell, barbells take much longer for it to heal because its an awkward shape and position and it will be hard to keep clean and move. The Ring is a much better choice and heals quite fast. I'm only 14 and I've got 4 piercings around my bellybutton. Make sure you keep it clean! When your in the shower clean it with specto gel, and use sea salt about 2-3 times a day, I clean mine with spectro gel in the morning, then sea salt, than again at night time with the sea salt. I wouldn't change the fact that they're pierced any day! If your parents don't let you.. wait, don't be so impatient, I asked to get mine done when I was 12 "No", 13 "No", 14 years "Yes", It might be that they feel you are not mature enough, so show them you are by respecting their opinions and thoughts! As much as we hate it, we all know there almost always Right. So do I recommend you go get your bellybutton pierced? Hey everyone, i just thought id answer some questions of people...First of all..GUESS WHAT im allowed to get my belly button pierced! Secondly thanks for advice i have picked up along the way on this website! Most Common Questions Does it Hurt? Yes, most people say its about a 6-8/10 for pain but my friends are saying its about a 3 so it depends for each person, just squeze a teddy bear or listen to some music while they do it, it will be over in 3 seconds :) How often do i have to clean it? You should clean it 2-3 times a day, 2 times is enough, but if its infected you should clean it 3 times. How do i clean it? First and formost WASH YOUR HANDS FIRST! Then take a Q-tip with water and gently scrub off any crust that may have formed around the ring, then rinse with water and spectro jel or a soap and turn the ring as u clean it. When you are down with the soap, rinse it throughly with water and move the ring around to make sure you have gotten rid of the soap etc..then if you want it to heal a little faster get some salt water in a bowl or glass and let your belly button soak for 10-15 minutes in it. Can i go into pools etc. when i get it done? Mostly, i would suggest to not, when you first get it done, but if you must, make sure that you clean it before you go into the pool and then clean it REALLY GOOD after you get out, dont sit in saunas or hot tubs, because they are more-so filled with chemicals then a pool or waterslide etc..also stay clear of the kiddy pool (pee ew) What do i do if i get an infection? Just relax, this happens to most, just make sure to clean it regulary, dont touch with dirty hands, when you have an infection, dont go into pools or oceans where they dump waste, and done let anyone else touch it or lick it (ew) and dont breath or cough on it if you have the flu or a cold! Im under-age is there a way i can get it done? Yes there probably is, most piercing/tatoo places will let you have it done if you are with an adult (probably a parent) because they can sign for you, in some places that may not be true. In victoria bc, where i live, Tattoo Zoo used to do underage people for 40$!! But now they wont even let a parent sign! So im going to go to Urge Studios for 65$ and they will let underage people go if they have a parental guardian with them. If you cant do that then i DONT suggest doing it yourself! Please dont EVER do it yourself..if a friend does it for you, with a needle that has been used with other people you could get Hepatitis C which isnt cureable! And a friend can put it in the wrong spot, and wont give you all the things you need to know on how to clean it or take care of it. I wouldnt suggest it, but im sure some people will do it anyways..so if u do..please be careful :) Does it hurt the next day? Most likely there will be a little pain, after all, you just put a hole in your body and you might have rolled over and slept on it, so there might be some pain there, for some its ALOT, for others its NONE Will it look bad on me? Most belly button rings look good on everyone, but if your really self-conscious about it, then dont get it done, because you will feel self-conscious and not wanna wear bathing suits etc..just do it if it feels right. Hey, i got my bellybutton pierced 2 weeks ago with a double gemed barbell(both pink) and i LOVE it!! its a little red on the top ball but thats to be expected. I clean it with antibaterial soap and spray bactine,im also going to get some sea salt and do that too soon. Im 13 and i just hope it wont migrate! does anybody know is this always happens or if it only happens to some people? oh and as for the pan level it didnt hurt that much at all!! just dont get urself to scared about it,just go for it you wont regret it!! oh and to answer someones question,you can go swimming afterward,just be sure to clean it VERY WELL after!! well i hope i helped and i hope someone answers my question!! lol well if u have any more question feel free to email me at sassy_cat15@hotmail.com

Hey people...I got my belly button done about 7 months ago (January for my 14th birthday) and it hardly hurt at all. For all you people that keep asking the same questions about how to clean it, and what happens if it dries out, its pretty simple. TO CLEAN IT: I found it easiest to be in the shower when you're ready to clean it. You can use regular Iodine or soap they sell at the piercing place. (I wouldn't recommend using regular soaps because that may increase the chance of it drying out.) All you do is turn away from the shower water and pour some of the soap/iodine on the top of your belly button and then move the ring/barbell around to get the soap/iodine inside. Then you turn back to the water and rotate the ring/barbell and make sure you get ALL of the soap/iodine out or it could cause it to get infected. When you get out of the shower, make sure you use a clean towel and dry your belly button first so you don't get any germs in it. SWIMMING: Where I got my piercing done (M&M's in Pennsylvania), they told me not to go swimming until the piercing was almost healed (1-2 months), and if I DID go swimming to wash it IMMEDIATELY to make sure no germs or anything gets in it. PERIODS AND BLOATING: It's fine to get it done when you have your period and are bloated. It doesn't really affect the way the piercing heals or looks, since it takes 1-2 months to heal anyway. LOW PANTS: Try to wear pants that come below your belly button because you don't want them rubbing against your piercing, since that will irritate it. WASH YOUR HANDS: ALWAYS wash your hands before you touch your piercing. Don't let anyone else touch it or mess with it. Don't play with the piercing, however tempting it is, because if you do, the healing time will be longer, and it may get infected. I'm planning on getting my belly button pierced again, on the bottom or sides. I saw this picture of a girl who had all four sides of her belly button pierced and she had small barbells in. I am also planning on getting my tongue and/or lip pierced when I'm older...Anyone who has had their tongue and/or lip pierced, PLEASE email me and tell me what it's like. Hey everyone....to answer some of your questions...i'm 16 and just got it done about three days ago!! For those of you who want to know how its done...this is how...you have to have a parent with you! If you are under 18 you need a birth certificate and a student ID...at least in Jersey you do! Then you go over some papers and the guy takes you in the back to get it done...he cleans your belly button with Iodine and then tells you to stand in front of him...some places use numbing cream...but the place i went to doesnt...then he takes a black marker and makes the dots on your belly!! After, he tells you to lay down and put your hands under your butt!! cute huh!? Then he clamps it and tells you to breathe in and then take a hard breath out..while you are breathing out he is putting the needle through...its about three seconds...he then puts the ring in..closes it..and then puts the ball on and your done!! Easy as that!! For myself...it didn't hurt at all..it only hurt when i layed on my stomach or sat the wrong way! Girls...don't do it yourself!! have it done by someone who knows what they are doing!! To answer Kayla's question...yes, it is normal to have a little bit of redness! Also there is a possiblity that you are allergic to the ring that they put in! Make sure you ask your parents about any reactions to certin types of jewlery...or you will have an infection...but other than that...redness is to be expected!! So ladies, don't be afraid to get this done..its a great thing! It looks great on everyone!! I've had my belly button pierced for about a month now, and even now it still hurts a little bit. But it was over in about 5 sec. and it really wasn't that bad. I think the worst part was after the guy put the clamp on and pushed the needle through he had to pull the needle out to put the barbel in and there was some tugging... That was the most painful part, the tugging. I DO NOT SUGGEST ANY ONE DO IT THEMSELVES OR GET A FRIEND TO DO IT!! GO TO A PROFESSIONAL!! I did it myself several times and now there's some what of an ugly scar and every time it got infected, because you can never be as sanitary doing it yourself as a professional. And most likely if the piercing parlor doesn't need parental consent it's not that professional of a place because it's against the law to pierce minors. Wash for a good 6 months twice a day or there is a chance of infection. Most of all leave it alone, don't touch it or mess with it as it will slow the healing process and your fingers are very grimy. And to respond to an earlier message, NO SWIMMING FOR AT LEAST 1 MONTH!!! And no migration does not always happen, usually it only happens if the piercing gets infected. I have my piercing license and I know about these things lol, also my belly button is my 11th piercing. And to answer the question "Why are belly piercings so susceptible" it's because there is very little blood flow to the area and a belly button is not exactly the cleanest of places, but mainly it's the lack of blood flow to the area.

DO not have someone that does not have a license to price it. I will tell you my lil story. I was smoking weed and drinking. and I asked my ex b/f to pierce it. Well, it look good for a wile but he did not pierce it far enough back and so the he only got a lil bit of skin and I took it out because it was agitating my skin. and I then became pregnant. This is gonna sound gorse but ima say it because it happen to me but when i was 7 months pregnant my belly itch and itch and got a bad nasty rash and so i decide to squeeze where i had it done at and all this nasty green puss came out. this was 2 years ago i got it done and i clean it every day before i got pregnant and to this day i get nasty rash it hurts so bad i just dig and dig and dig at it nothing is in it now because it was pierced wrong my skin react to it and it continuos to react with my skin> and the weed and liquor i only did that one because i do it and to because he was doing it him self and i had no money to do it professional and not to mention i had to keep a big needle in it for 3 hours so it would gage it and it was not completely fully gauged when we took the needle out. I went and got my ClIT 14 gage pierced I bring this up because when I was getting that done I asked the pricier why my belly was so nasty from the piercing and he told me that all pricing they use a Hallow metal tube they place under what ever you are getting pierced so the needle does goes completely through and does not stop on the way in I would suggest to see a professional. OR you can buy Kits in tattoo stores or Like in a store Here in Utah you can go to the mall and they have like kits to do any piercing you ant it comes with a tapers witch you will need to gage the piercing and it comes with a sterilized bar bell and cleaning solution with directions and sterilized needle if you have your friend do it for you i would find that kit i all so have my cartilage on my ear a 16 gage you need to be very care full I will warn you can get gain green AIDS hepatitis only on a known sterilized needle and ect another thing stay AWAY from piercing guns on the belly. Piercing guns can come back and they say the best piercing is with a needle it is quicker. all so piercing on ANY part of the body with a piercing gun it can rip you cant see it all the time but the gun when used some times pierce like half way through and then they got to re pierce it witch cause tear skin. Internal Bar Bell is the best way to go. External threading bar bell can tend to rip skin (internal bar bell is where the threading is hook on to the ball and screw in to the bar bell) (External Bar bells are a bar bell you see with the threading coming off the bar bell and you screw the ball on) very important Id never touch an external bar bell due to the dis comfort of taking in and out every thing you will need to have a friend or your self do it things you will need to have safe and profechenal look would be a Slotted Navel Clamp Needle Forceps, Needle Holder what ever size you are going with you will need the same gage every thing piercing needle and you will need H20 cleaning sistem and tapers so you can gage it and don't have to keep a needle in for hours to make the hole bigger I would suggest going to http://www.tribalectic.com/Body_Jewelry.asp I bought my hood bar bell there. They do Cary internal bar bells if you want that. NOTE: some place do not know the difference between internal and external bar bell if you want internal you ask them now does this ball screw in side the bar bell or can you see the threading on the bar bell and have them show you. A tattoo parlor try selling me an external I took it back when I saw what they had given me.

Hi. I had my belly button pierce twice. The first time it came out and it close up within minutes. The second time I had it in for about six months. Then I notice that the outer part of the piercing would become inflamed like it was swollen. I would clean it then move my belly ring up higher so, there wouldn't be any weight on the skin. A couple of days ago I notice the outer skin area became skinner and thinner. To where I had to take out my belly ring. Today my skin dry up completely and I don't have an whole now to insert my piercing. But,it looks funny because the other two sides are swollen and it looks like I have two belly buttons. I don't know if I should call the tattoo parlor back and complain. But now I have extra skin and no hole to insert my ring anymore. It looks crazy. I cant believe it dry up like that. I don't know what to do and why it happen. Please help ASAP.

HEY! For all you kids out there who are thinking about piercing your belly button yourself. You guys are going to do what you want so if you are going to do it, do it right. Soooooo many things can go wrong. Some people get lucky and some people get gangrenous belly buttons (its true). If you are set to do it yourself here are some instructions on how to do it so you have a less chance of hurting yourself too badly. This is what I did after some trial and alot of error. I warn you this is lengthy but every word is important! - Pre Piercing - 1) Go to a Feed & Farm store (yes you heard me "Feed & Farm") buy a 396-140 (type) 14 (gauge) x 1-1/2" (length) needle with a Poly hub. It's a horse needle and they generally go for about .35 cents. They are all pre-sterilized so you don't have to worry about the whole lighter and safety pin technique ( a horrible way to pierce anything). Another good thing is that they are hollow (and S-H-A-R-P), so the needle will take the flesh with it. Thus making it alot easier to put the ring in. 2) Get surgical gloves to keep it clean while piercing. And don't touch anything but the needle and what you are piercing while you have them on. 3) Pick you ring wisely. There are really two types you could go for, a curved barbell or a ball ring. You want to go for 14 gauge types (like your horse needle). When you are deciding which one you want really think on it. Think use, NOT style. You can wear the ring you want after it heals. Curved barbells are harder to clean and more prone to infection but less likely to catch on clothing and migrate the piercing out. The ball and ring types are easier to clean but catch on anything and everything. If you're one of the kiddy's who is trying to hide your piercing and can't afford to give anything away by wearing lose clothing or are very physically active go for barbell and sterilize often. If at all possible go for ball ring since it is less likely to get infected. 4) Sterilize! Get some medicinal soap if you can. You don't want your belly button to turn black with weird and painful infections. Get Ready to Pierce - Check List- * Horse Needle * Ice Cube * Surgical Gloves * Isopropyl Alcohol * Favorite Movie * Ball Point Pen or Marker 1) Once you have everything ready to go, put on your favorite movie, it sounds silly but believe me it helps distract from the pain later. 2) Take your pen and make your target mark, inside and outside your navel. When making a mark for it be sure to make an good estimate for dead skin. Yes, your skin will flake off a bit around the piercing making it a little larger and alittle further out than you think it will be when you first pierce. Also don't pierce to far in, otherwise you aren't going to be able to fit the ring around the skin. 3) Ice up! Get the ice cube and ice your belly button until you can't feel anything. 4) Sterilize you entire belly button inside and out!!! 5) Before the numbness wears off pierce from bottom to top (inner to outer). It may seem alittle less controlled way to pierce but since you guys are amateurs, if you slip you don't want to have a one and a half inch needle stuck to the hub in your abdomen. TIP: Take a deep breath before you pierce. If you do it right you will barely feel a pinch. 6) Ok, open your eyes. You have needle in your belly button. What next? Have your ring on hand and ready to go in. Veeeeeery slowly pull the needle out CLOSELY followed by the ring. And TADA! Fasten the ball on the end (or pop in the ball and tighten the ring by squeezing it) and you can deem yourself pierced. Post Piercing - 1) "NO Touchy!" Alot of people play with the ring when they first get it pierced and risk infection and may cause the piercing to migrate out (not a pretty sight). It may get kinda weepy, crusty, and/or bloody. But what ever you do, DO NOT PICK. Only ever touch to sterilize and clean it for the first 3 and 1/2 weeks, It seems like a long time but its better than having the words "Fatal Belly Button Piercing Infection" printed in the obituaries next you name and picture. 2) If you are successfully pierced kick back and watch the movie you had in. Just remember that every time you even think about your belly button sterilize it so you don't get an infection and keep your belly intact. 3) Enjoy! Once healed (You'll know when, every one heals at different speeds) switch out to that fashionable ring of your choice and have fun!

You guys just need to calm down. I'm 16 and I have pierced my belly button 3 times now. Twice by myself and the third time my best friends sister did it. I had to take them out the first two times because I got in some trouble and had to go do DT (teenager jail) and they dont let you have any jewelry. Everyone is telling you that you should NEVER do it by yourself but that is bull. It is not a big deal. Just pierce it, and clean it. You'll be fine. It's just a little teeny hole it's not some big deal. I have even pierced my own tongue. Dont be an idiot and pierce it with a plain sewing needle because as soon as you take it out, you wont be able to get anything back in!!! Just don't be stupid about it and you'll be fine.

hey i got my belly button pierced on Sunday and its friday. but its still red. i think everybody whos 11,12,13 years old is really too young to get your bellybutton pierced. well when i got it done it didnt hurt at all i fine till we got to the place and i had to hand the guy my money with 2 hands cause i was shaking so much lol well we went in he put a dot on my stomach clamped it and made me lay down on the table/bed thing and said one two three breath in and then out it was done. when he got it in i was like thats it lol expecting more but when we got in the car it hit me i was like in shock that i actually got my bellybutton pierced they said not to go tanning which sux for me cause i usually start in feb, dont take baths only showers and dont go swimming and dont change the ring for at least 6 months

Hey for all you out there who want to get it done go for it! I'm really bad with pain and i made it through it it didn't hurt that much. Heres the story first they clean it and then they mark it with a marker or something and then you lay down and the clamp goes on (clamp hurts worse trust me) and then they prepare the needle and they say needle coming soon and you feel it like its a bigger needle for a shot only its on your stomach! Then you get told how to clean it and that it MUST be cleaned. Make sure you eat during the day and if you don't you pass out as in faint that happened to me b.c i didn't eat much that day. And for all you who think its going to hurt it really doesn't i thought the clamp hurt worse so if your gonna worry worry about the clamp! DON'T DO IT YOURSELF! i had a friend die from doing it herself! Good luck o and i got mine done yesterday if ya wanted to no & it just stings thats all

ok im 15 and my mom said she would take me but than at the last minute she refused. so i got mad and wanted to do it myself. 2 or 3 of my friends did it themselves so i thought it was no big deal cause they did it with just the average redness and stuff after the piercing. so i went to my friends house and we did it together... we used huge safety pins and sterelized them and everything.our belly buttons were really sore and so we thought it would be better to go ahead and put the belly button rings it. but because of the gage, the belly button rings are a LOT fatter than the safety pins. so my friend just gave up and i was very determined, i didnt wanna go through all the pain for nothing. so i got her to push it through and it hurt really bad. 2 days later i realized we didnt pierce enough skin and it would probably rip out really easily. and it wasnt infected 2bad.i just took it out tonight. if it has an infection, could it close up in my body? is there a chance of death because of this? cause thats what i heard. how can i clean it better? i have just been using hydrogen peroxide. is neosporin bad for it if there is some puss? ok yall this is so awesome yesterday i pierced my own belly button and im only 11 yrs. old.it didnt hurt @ all and im 11.but i have to make it bigger cause i used a to tiny of a needle im gonna do dat when it gets less sore but it is so awesome and nobody knos except a few of my friends. My mom and my grandma and grandpa and all those people would kill me if they found out!!So since the hole is 2 small rite now i put in these dangly earings and look so so so awesome just like belly button rings.Its so cool its still a little red and it bled just a little bit but it didnt hurt at all.and its not infected thats cool u kno?but u can so do it yourself if u want to even with another earring cause i did it with the help of one of my earrings but u should so do it!!Im so happy since i did it!!

Hey! I'm planning to get ma belly button pierced over spring break (on March 24)i know thats some time away, but I'malready nervous and having doubts. I'm 14 years old and am not so nervous about the pain when its getting pierced because i know what is expected. I'm mostly nervous about my parents finding out. My dad would would seriously freak out! Do you think i should still get it done now, or wait a little longer until I'mout of the house and my dad can't do anything... i really don't want to wait, but i don't want my dad to kill me. Also, what gels and things will i need to clean the piercing. I heard someone say "spectro" gel is good, but where can i buy this? Also, for those who got it done without their parents consent, did they ever find out? is there any tips i could use (besides the obvious "don't let them c your belly button)so they won't b suspicious? Ok I got my bellybutton pierced a little over two months ago. Im 14 I had no complications at all! I am totally intolerant of pain and needles but to my suprise it didnt hurt all that bad I did pass out but thats just how I am with needles. dont look... lol. So for those of you wondering if it hurt. Dont be worried at all I was totally flippin out about it but when it was all over i was so excited! ide say about a 6 on a 1-10 scale its different for everyone. So definetely go for it. I do have one question tho... how long am I supposed to wait before changing the bar? I went in a hot tub about 3 weeks ago and it was fine. You'll know when its healed. Its different for everyone

I got my belly button peirced& it don't hurt ... just bring some one if you are really scared, & squeeze their hand close your eyes & count to 10 & it will be all over & you won't even know that it happened. Some places will even numb your belly button 1st. & if you are still scared ... do this RIGHT NOW 1st look @ ur belly button then squeeze the top part (it hurts the least to get it peirced there so, this is where I recommend to get it peirced)now squeeze it as hard as you can ... does it hurt??? <marquee>Hey My name is Lucie and I got my bellybutton pierced 4 days ago...it doesn't hurt that bad, the worst part is the ice, if they numb it, because they leave it on there so long it starts to hurt. If you go to a place that doesn't numb it, go to a different place or ask them to so it won't hurt as bad. Then, they just put clamps on your bellybutton, put a Styrofoam ball at one end, and stick it through. It hurts a little bit, but just right then, not after. Mine is a little red on each side of the hole, but just make sure you pull your shirts up when your at your house because shirts rubbing up against it can irritate it. All you have to do is wash it with antibacterial soap once a day and salt water once a day and put neosporin on it. :)</marquee>

Hey im Ashley im going to tell you my story about how my parents told me . well my friend whose name is also Ashley has hers done along with her 9 year old sis.I wanted mine done then she said ill do it im like NO THANX then she said we will take you to the girl down the road she done ours ( she was 25) so I got a bar bell whick i think look just so cute and then call up my parents and ask there like NO im like please then they say no agian I had to go threw them checking my belly button to make sure i did not get it done lol but i would never do it without there permision ( Its soooo not safe) but any ways i had one with a frog on it and ir broke so i did not have one for a while then i started to aked good cleaning the place up being good ( even tho it was difficult) then my parents came home and my dad said i have some thing for you i was like what ????? i had no clue because i knew he would never go for it ! so Then he said ill let you get something if im there when you get it ( i thought ok well i dont need any more cloths no make up ?? what could it be ??) and he pulled the bar bell case from his pocket with the most awsome barew bell in it it was a fairy so i grabed it and was like omg omg screaming then i hugged him and my mom and me and my mom are going to go get it together ! now im going to get it in aboout 3 weeks and im nurvis i know IM A WUSS ! but im scared i hate pain ! well if any one could help me with dose it hurt?what all happens? and any other advice you can give me ! Hey I am prolly gonna get my belly button pierced for my 14th birthday and that will be in almost 2 weeks... I am like really scared but alot of people say that it dont hurt... ok well i got my belly button pierced 3 weeks ago. i really like it. but it is a little crooked, which i am bumbed about. but when i went to get it i got a little scared but it was ok i when i got it but some weird crap happened after that. i got up and felt dizzy and went into the hall and then just passed out right there. i woke up to my boyfriend standing over me, so the piercer lady gave me a juice box and told me to drink it, and then i started throwing up after i drank it. but then i felt better an went outside and looked in the mirror and my lips were white. it was SO wierd! i didnt faint of throw up cause it hurt too bad. it was just wierd, but now it is fine. i clean it with bactine and it looks really good!

okay i just got my belly button pierced in august. i felt the same way all of yous did or will feel when you are going to get your belly button pierced.i was really scared and thought that i was going to pass out when i saw the neddle that was going to be going through my belly button... ...but when i got there i chose which one i wanted (its pink) and then the guy took me in the back with who ever wanted to see me get it done (which was a lot of people). then he put like this brown stuff on it and then told me to lay on the chair and dont think about it, which was hard because i was scared. the more you think about it the more r likely to pass out. then he took a clamp and put it on my belly button and pulled it up. then he took the neddle and shoved it through. and then put the top of it on and that was the end. it might seem like a long time but it only take like 3 seconds for the neddle to go trough.... i would tell everyone to go to get it professionally done. it is much safer. and you can clean it out with contact sloution, salt, or soap. that i what the guy told me. and now i only have like 5 months left. you really should wait a year but it doesnt matter. but the tops is 6 months. dont be stupid and take it out or change it within those 6 moths because it will close trust me when i say that. if you have an questions you can e-mail me at Noelle1990@yahoo.com (feel free to ask me questions about how i felt when i got it done or whatever you think you might need to know about getting your belly button pierced )

ADVICE well, most people don't tell you that when you are going to get your belly button pierced if you under 18 you have to bring parent and a birth certificat and even if your 18 you still have to have a birth certificate that clarifies that your over 18...i just got my belly button pierced and i was all nervious because the time came and i ALMOST backed off and left but i was strong and i went through and it was very little and fast pain(i didnt feel it really)...kind like when you bite on you tounge... but i think that biting your tounge might hurt a little more..if you have any questions just e-mail me @ monnieboobizzard@yahoo.com and i will be happy to answer any questions about it. Well, first of all, the reaction is different for everyone. If you think about it, getting something pierced is basically shoving metal through your body- there will be some pain. Most of the time, it's not very intense. Like with mine, there was a pinch that I had myself worked up for. It wasn't a big deal. Take very good care of it too! I kept up with it at first but then I started slacking...now my body is rejecting the piercing. There's about a centimeter long of skin holding in the piercing and the skin is almost transparent (see through). I think it's going to fall out this week, or atleast sometime soon. If it does, I'll just get it pierced on the top, because it's currently on the bottom. I hope this was informational? I suppose it wasn't really but be careful to keep it clean and make sure that you get it professionally done. Oh, and I'd like to add that the people who work at piercing studios are NOT trained. "Professionals" don't have any sort of national qualifications or standards. The state RARELY inspects piercing studios and equipment- research and ask your piercer questions. You have to do the inspections yourself. Also, avoid piercing guns. The only jewelry that is made for those kinds of guns is chinsy and cheap. Well, if you have further questions, just post back on here. And if you're wondering, I have a book about piercings and tattoing that I refer to so I'm not trying to sound like a professional, just trying to help.

i do all my own peircings and all my friends i have a peircing gun for ears, and needles for other stuff like nipples and noses and stuff. but there are a select few holes i will not put in anyone until i actually work in a shop.....such as the belly button, it could be dangerous to do it yourself even i kno that. u can get staff infections if its not a sterile needle and clean environment plus other diseases can live even in dry blood like hepititis.. so get it done by a pro not just someone who thinks there a pro kk. well im gettin mine done on april 1st and im not scared at all i mean i have so may other holes whats just one more.. i have my ears peirced 14 times in diff. spots like the rook and tragus and conch, also my nose is done and i used to have the left nip..well good luck 2 any one gettin any peircings and go for it. its all in good fun and personally i think they give you character and a personallity.....ONLY COOL PEOPLE HAVE MAN MADE HOLES! ;) ~kayla

I got my belly button peirced 3 days ago.It did not hurt at all getting it peirced and im scared of needles.I clean mine when i wake up and before i go to bed.I clean it with dial antibacterial soap and sea salt,it doesn't burn at all.The only thing i hate about it is i have to sleep on my side because i have a ring in.It is best to get it peirced with a ring cuz barbells can get infected easier and is harder to heal.If you get it peirced and your body acts like the jewelry is rejecting your skin put a plastic barbell in it will heal better and will be more comfortable.I would only put it in if its irratating you.But if it gets infected dont panic and get scared it takes time and pateince whatever you do leave your jewelry in because if you take it out the holes will close up and the infection could end you up in the hospital and when you have the jewelry in it drains the infection out.Just be patient.

Okay, I got my belly pierced Last friday(march 31st) And I was soo F--cking scared it was unbelieveable,I did reseach and everthing to figure out the possible side effects to navel piercings I found a few serious ones ,but that was only on certain people,so I wasnt THAT worried and for all you girlies who wanna/think it's gonna hurt,Within my personal opinion it didn't hurt,But many peoples pain levels are different,so anyways heres a trick,it worked for me , (pinch ur belly with YOUR finger nail hard but not to hard.thats what it feels like) well okay,Sit back,Listen to what the piercer says,Then just relax Inhale and exhale,Forget about EVERYTHING ,just think about somthing cool ya know? Then before you know it , it's over, and enjoy your new piercing people.! :D

i got my belly pierced 2 days ago. im 18, but ive been wanting it foreverr. my parents werent cool wit it obviously, when i was younger, so i totally respected their opinion and waited. it was worth waiting for. dont get it done when ure young, its stupid..just wait. everything has its time and place..u wont die if u wait a lil longer..its more exciting. its like, u have something ure lookn forward to. n e whoose, those who ask if it hurts..omg how stupid are u..anytime something goes through ur flesh, its gonna hurt a bit..jeesus christ, thinkk people THINKK..for me, it was like getting blood drawn. the piercer told me to breathe in he stuck the needle in and breathe out he put the ring in he was so nice and calming. my best friend was with me and she took pics of me while i was getting it done nd stuff. i surprised my parents with it, they were like OMG but they got over it :] i love it. its hot..especially cuz my tummies toned. cleaning it is annoying but i use dial foam liquid soap..it smells good and its a great germ killer.

I am 16 and got mine done about 2 months ago. Yes mine did hurt; it felt like getting stung by a wasp. I could feel the needle go through my skin, it was very uncomfortable. The procedure is simple. They clean it, mark the dots, clamp it, shove the needle through, take the needle out, put the bar in, clean it again and then they put a patch over it which you can�t take off for at least an hour. I have quite a lot of advice for people who want to get it done: As much as you probably don't want to hear this, I don't recommend people under the age of 16 getting their belly buttons pierced. Since your body is still growing, your body will most likely "push" the piercing out of your body causing problems, and you will most probably have to take it out. If you are under 13, I definitely don�t think you should get it done; I would wait until you are a few years older! With all piercings comes a lot of responsibility. Before you get it done, you should research, research and research more about the piercing and make sure you know about all the complications that can occur. Infections are not the only things that can happen to your piercing. You have to remember that a piercing is an open wound, just like when if you cut yourself on something; you have to make sure nothing gets in it. If you keep up your aftercare and don't get lazy, everything should be ok. DEFINITELY make sure if the piercing place is safe and clean. If the place looks dodgy, then leave. It's better to wait to get it professionally done at a good place rather than get it done by a dodge place and then it gets infected. It�s probably also good to report a shop if they look unhygienic. It saves other customers from getting infected piercings. Never EVER pierce yourself or get your friend or sibling too!!!!!! Unless you are a licensed piercer, that's the only time you should pierce yourself. It is soooo dangerous to pierce yourself. Piercers know where blood vessels and nerves are and if you pierce yourself and hit a nerve, it can be really dangerous and you can lose feeling in where ever you get pierced. I cannot stress enough to never ever pierce yourself. It is just so silly. When you first get your belly button pierced, make sure the piercer puts in the bar with the two balls on the end, rather than the ring because when it heals, your hole will heal in a curve and it is more likely to get infected. For every piercing you get should have a bar in it until it has healed properly. For your belly button, don't change the bar for at least SIX MONTHS to ONE YEAR. Lastly, getting your belly button pierced should be your decision. Don't get it done if your friends say you should or don�t get it done just because they have it done. If your parents won�t let you get it done, then don�t. It�s not worth fighting with your parents about a piercing. i got mine done 6 months ago. alright here is what you need to know 1. does it hurt? pain is different from person to person for me it DID hurt but for 2 one seconds and then it went numb. 2. red bump? puss? yes! this is ALL PART OF IT HEALING. believe it or not it does puss and its normal its not infected if it does. some girls have puss some girls DONT. 3. blood? blood may occur aft the piercing but that�s normal as well. 4. changing the ring. is easy! some times it hurts when you change it but that�s only because its dry. wet it first and taking it out will be easy. I recommend this piercing to everyone! those girls who are 12 -13 and who want it wait 2 more years. trust me I was your age and I REALLY wanted it done then too. but I waited and im happy that I did. you guys are still kids. you DON�T need to worry about piercings. have fun! while your that age. anyway. i hope i did not insult anyone because that is not my intention

Hey Im Ashley Im 21 and i just got my 6th pircing...no the belly ring dont hurt when you first get it..i had to wait till i was like 20 when i got mine doen the 1st time...but while in the Navy my unifrom kept pulling on it before it was healed and eventually it rippied out cuase the skin got so thin across it..so wear loose clothes around the belly ring.. finlly about 4 mths ago i went to the beach and got mine done in VA =) its doing better, i clean it everyday and put SALT WATER on it to help it heal faster... oh btw i love piercing( i got 2 in each ear, 1 cartliage, 2nd belly ring/and 1 tatoo) so i can take the pain easliy..and im not done with my picering =) umm the next day it didnt hurt unless my pants would rub againest it or something but it dont really hurt only thing right now is sore is my catlige piercing i got 3 days ago..(its thorbing) well i thought i put my say so in...dont be chicken...they take you in the back room, kneel in front of you and out the dot of wear they are gunna do it..then they lay you down and wipe it off and sick the needle throw..dont hurt at all cuz it happens so fast...then they move the needle so they can put the ring or bar in..after thats its all done..=) well got any questions email me at gothic_rose03@hotmail.com

I got my navel pierced yesterday(I'm 15), and its fine now. The main pain with getting it done is the clamps. The studio I went to is called Adrenalin, Beds, England, and is really good. Its pretty cheap (My navel cost me �25) and is really clean and the staff are awesome. Most of the people at my school that get pierced go there... thats a lot of people! The only downfall of this stupid is that they say you have to be 16 to get pierced, but I'm younger and got done, they didn't even ask my age. But then again I have a fake ID that says I'm18 and I've never been questioned... The main thing is to make sure you clean your piercing well, I've been given a solution from the piercer, most should do this. But just take care of it. If you bend and bash it about, it will hurt and could cause you problems. IF IT GETS INFECTED <B>DO NOT</B> TAKE THE BALL/RING OUT! THAT WILL ALLOW THE PIERCING TO HEAL UP OVER THE INFECTION, THEREFORE KEEPING IT INSIDE YOUR BODY. GO BACK TO YOUR PIERCER AND THEY WILL HELP YOU!!!! Enjoy the holes girls and guys :]

to all of you... take it from someone who learned the hard way..please re think getting your belly button pierced and make sure it is something you really want to do...my mom would not let me get mine done so when i turned 18 i went in did it when i was on a trip. if you do decide to get it down make sure you take care of it, because i really did not do that great of a job at that and i had to take mine out because it kept getting infected. That was over 6 months ago!! i noticed that it was becoming a little irritable when i sit down and today i noticed a red bump in the spot where the hole used to be. it hurts when it is touched...so make sure you take really good care of them and be careful and make sure you get it down professionally. and if you are wondering if it hurts, personally for me it wasnt that bad. but in all truthfulness my tattoo hurt less than the piercing did and my tattoo is right on my hip bone. hey guys.im 13 and ive been naggin mum for about 2 years to let me get my belly done so she finaly let me!! i had my belly pierced yesterday and i was so nervous. first he made me tuck my shirt under my bra, then he drew a dot on my belly, then i layed down and he cleaned my belly and coz i was nervous i was moving and fidgeting so he done breathing exercises with me to calm me down. he said im going to count to 3 then ill stick it in..1...3 and bam!!! the needle went in..after the needle goes in a clear rod tp thing is put in while he unwraps the bar belll i chose but i didnt reliese that and i sat up to have a look only to find the clear rod in there. the pain lasted about 5 seconds but it wasnt that bad. as soon as he done it he said you havent eaten today have you and i was like no why and he said that my blood pressure was really low so my piercing started to bleed a lil bit. i stood up and i was walkin around the studio and i walked into the office part with mum to pay for it and then i fainted..i didnt hit the ground as i hang into the desk a bit and the receptionist cought me. i had to lay down, mum had to get me a drink of softdrink and some candy. it was so worth it i got a purple bar and it looks so rad. i knocked it a few times but mine isnt sore or red no more. i can turn it with out it hurting..my advice..eat before you get it done. the guy, Liam that pierced mine is the best in toowoomba (australia qld) he has been here for 14 years. i was under age but i convinced hi mto let me get it done, he was so nice, un front and outgoing. he told us storys about his piercing experience and even swore..he was great!! it cost $70 and it was worth every cent..i love it. luv ya xoxo x._biatch_.x@hotmail.com add me

I think having a belly button piercing is so cool, I've had mine for 3 years or more now, needles freak me out!!! but IT DIDN'T HURT AT ALL! I went to a special place to get it, I would NEVER EVER let an amateur do it for me, my girlfriend did and it turned out really bad, she had to take it off and ended up going to the same place I got it. It doesn't hurt the next day it just feels a little uncomfortable, and you gotta make sure you take special care for about 3 months NO BIG DEAL. I personally think that this 11 and 12 year old girls should be thinking about other things than getting piercing at this age, there's more time that anything else in this life and you guys will be young ladies in a near future. PLUS, you're only 11!!! you might change your mind in 3 years or less!!! Now my question is, I'd like to get pregnant in a couple of years and I wouldn't like to take it off...can I keep it?

Dont pierce your bellybutton yourself...i pierced mine myself 2 times before my mom decided to let me get it done... and i wish i hadnt, it doesnt look bad now, but i have scars from the past were it got infected and i had to take it out. If you want to get it done and you have a scar its still ok, but dont pierce it by yourself, just wait a few years and beg alot!!!! Also if your 14 and you want to get it done go for it, Just take good care of it, 70% of it being rejected sounds stupid to me because everyones gets infected a little or at least a little sore, dont worry about it, get it pierced and take very good care of it, make sure you give it time to heel, and MAKE SURE YOU DONT CHANGE IT FOR 3 MONTHS!!!! I have had mine pierced for a month and a half, and i decided i wanted to change it already but they had told me 3 months, (listen to what they tell you please) I put a barbell in, and i found out that they pierced it too thick and i can barely fit the barbell in it and im afraid its going to get really infected or something... It has started hurting, but i cant get the original ring back thru, idk what to do about it, and suggestions???

You only have to be 16 with a parents signature to get it pierced, Yes bruising, white or yellow puss, a dry crust on the belly button ring, swelling, and puffyness are all normal for up to 3 months after getting it pierced.. Do not use Neosporin, witch hazel, rubbing alchohal, or peroxcide on it, these can make the healing process take even longer. Going swimming to soon after you have pierced your belly button yes can infect it, also it can dry it out and once again extend the healing process, the have water proof patches avaliable over that are much like band aids that you can place over the piercing. The reason they say you should be atleast 16 or older when you get your belly button pierced is because as you grow taller, skinnier, or thicker.. yes your belly button ring will migrate.. When I got mine pierced it really didn't hurt much at all and I have a high pain tolerance.. and I am 16 ..

In my opinion 12,13 and 14 yr olds are not too young to have theiir bellys pierced..ii have mine done and ii am 13..you should get iit done when you feel ready..and to the questions like "im a little scared is it going to hurt?"..my advise is to relax..many of my friends have theirs done and they got so worked up about worrying about the pain but when they got it pierced they didnt know what they were fussing about because it wasnt even really tat bad..Although when my sister got her navel pierced she said it hurt her BUT she isnt good with needles and cant tolerate pain very well..Obviously it is going to hurt just a little but only for a couple of seconds because to put it bluntly, you are having something forced through your belly button ( hee hee it sounds bad when you say it like that) but it all comes down to how much you can tolerate pain..no one is the same..every one is different..everyone is going to handle it in a different way than others..eg..it only hurt me a little and the same with people i know that have it done but others think it hurt ALOT..I personally think that iif you want iit done that bad it doesnt matter about how much it hurts because the pain is only temporary and you will most probly be happy with the result..i love mine and i have no regrets getting it done..just dont forget to clean it!! so all you girls no matter what age you are if your readly to get it done, whats stopping you (besides parents hee-hee)..just give it a try cuz ya only gonna live once..may as well try it why ya can ..xox..:)

hi i think its ok to have your friends do it but bring ur own needle,and make sure they were gloves and clean it befor you stick the needle in it,then have her put tha clams on it and make sure tha needle does not touch tha floor or anything.oh befor you do this clean the needle in exrtemly hot water and then u let it cool amd hold the point of the needle in the air i am 12 and i want my friend to do it her name is deanna and she has hers done but she got hers done prof done and she is going to do mine and she is going to gine a belly rinf too but i am going to clean it in hot water and antibacterial soap to kill all girms.The only reason i am leting her do it is because my mom wont let me until am 16 teen years of age whitch is not fair at lest i dont think and i am going to hid it until am 16 then say oh mom i just got it done (lol)but to any one who is reading thislet your friend do it or what not just make sure u know what she doing so u can say to her wait no the needle needs to be cleaned before u stick it in me.....

HELP!!! I'm16 years old, I'vebeen complaining to my parents to let me get my belly button pierced since last summer.... finally my mom said that i could get it, but she told me to get it after i go to Puerto Rico, she said its because she doesn't want me to flash it around all over the place, but i go to Puerto Rico in the summer so i told her that it would be healed by then and that if i got it in the summer then it would be more prone to get infected, i'vebeen trying to look up things online to go for my own defense in the fact that i should get it earlier. if anyone else has any comments as to reasons why i should get it earlier rather then the summer please list them, i need the most help i can get!

for the same reason as for any other piercing - because you get a needle pushed through and end up with a wound that takes quite some time to heal. Because of the position of your belly button the jewellery tends to move around a lot which makes it one of the piercings that take longest to heal. You also have to keep it clean, even after the healing process. Some people also have allergic reactions to the jewellery used. Best thing to do is go to a professional piercer who uses properly sterilised needles and jewellery. They usually provide you with fact sheets and instructions on how to avoid infections as much as possible.

I have a question. I'm have been wanting my belly button pierced for a long time. I'm finally going to get it done. My friends got there done by a friend that has done lots of girls belly's, they have came out fine they didn't get infected or anything. I thing i might get it done by her. Should i have her do it?

I have a question.....i have a lil red bump on the bottom of my belly button peircing...iuts off and on....right now i have the sterling silver peircing ring in but i want to knwo if theres any way to get rid of it.....it gets smaller whne its dry but when wet it swells....my neighbor said she had one and all she had to do is soak ina abth and then squeeze it and itll go away if you continue to do it...its tissue and she said it takes time to heal over....its just really gross and it bugs me because bar bells wont fit in...it doesnt hurt or nothing just is so ugly....red all the time....anyways...answer me

I went to get my belly button done yesterday..It doesn't hurt at all ..I swear.. It is all over within 3-5 sec. The people that say it hurts the next day, it doesn't.I promise. I ha vent had any pain from it at all. If you have a comment or question about it, email me at born2cheer4life@cs.com

hey i got my belly button pierced yesterday with y friendz.I didnt even hurt and it was over in the 3 seconds.Most places don't care about your age.Just make sure its a clean place.everyone who wants to do it by themselves go for it but just make sure u wash it THREE times a day wid salt water and with non bacterial soap in the shower.I did it three times by myself b4 my mom actually let me get it done cuz she was tired of my doin it by myself.so hey if u do it urself maybe ur moms or dads will let u get it done.Mine did well if u have any questions about it just email me at roxigurl59@yahoo.com.or feel free to im me on aim at akbprincessohtty if u got questions

i have my belly button pierced and it's fine i got it pieced my a professional. I had it done for a year now and if i don't clean it for at list once a week then it well get infected but as soon as you notice redness and or soreness then you should clean it right away.

I got my belly button pireced about 4 months ago. And I have this like red pice of hanging out the buttom of the hole under my belly button ring. It feels soft but burns when I touch it. Its only been there for like a week. It does'nthurt to move my belly button ring or anything. Will it ever heal, does it even spouse to be there. When i went to get my belly button pierced yesterday the guy said that there was a 70%chance that my body would reject it cuz i am still growing.( I'm 14) Many of my friends have it and theirs are fine. I got a belly button piercing 3 weeks ago (w/a barbell) but lately I have a black ring around the holes and I have been using Dial soap, and Bactine Liquid. It doesn't hurt though, but if it dries out then it hurts. I was told to clean it at least 4 times but I think I dried it out by cleaning it that many times. So now I try to wash it at least 2 times per day. Also I got a tiny rash above it. I was wanting to know is it infected and if it is what would I do to reverse it?

AH!! Im getting my belly button pierced tomorrow and Im really scared! i can probably deal with the pain, I'm more worried about infection! I really want a barbell, but I think it'll prevent infection better if i get a ring. Any thoughts?

Just be confident and dont wimp out. On a scale of 1 to 10 the pain is about ehh 7 and the soreness afterwards is about 8/and a half. Dont worry it quickly goes away and as long as you take care of it you have absolutley nothing to worry about!Great Luck!

if u live n victoria dont go to urge it doesnt seem very professional..go to universal tatoos and piercings, the people are amazingly nice and it very easy! Its cheaper too! But its better~ 55$ for a ring and 65$ for a barbell, and if u want its 5$ for satin soap

Wow you guys paid a lot for your piercings. I paid $35 for mine at a place in Kalamazoo, MI called Body Armor. I got my tattoo done there and they are VERY clean, VERY nice, and all-around VERY professional people. All 3 guys there have Bachelors Degrees in the Arts and they are 3 of the funniest people you'll ever meet. So if you live around that area and are thinking about getting a piercing (or a tattoo), I would HIGHLY recommend these guys!
