i have a clunking noise when i turn my steering wheel only when i start to drive from park. for example: backing out of a parking space and turning the wheel produces loud clunk under my feet. maybe a motor mount loose or worn out or steering rack loose?

most likely the half shafts are bad

I would get your u-joints checked sounds like a common symptom of  universal joints failing
