This can be done, but use careful consideration before growing plants indoors.  Check your local codes and regulations to see what plants can be legitimately grown.

yes you can hook up one 400 watt lps to your home what you need to do is decide which v you are going to use either 240 or 120 just change the ballast setting they are marked. ues a 12/2 with ground. use a 20. you know that these lights give off harmful rays?

hey man, im an electrician by trade and ill tell you what . Be carefull. Yes you can hook it up to a standard plug in the wall with a time clock as well but remember its rated at 15 amps only. You need whats called a multi tap ballast, that means it will work with different types of voltage. In you wall socket is 120 volts and on a 400w hps multi tap ballast there is a 120 volt tap as well as 208,240,and277. using the higher voltage taps lowers your power usage. and trust be i have a 1500watt taped at 120 and just one costs me an extra $100 on the power bill so the 400 is good for residential. remember as well to read on the ballast what the amperage is at each voltage. on a 15 amp circuit like yours you can only draw 80% safely and that means 12 amps max on that plug. also add the fans and every other electrical device you will us they all add up. plugging into another plug in the same room does not work. in construction one circuit is usually looped around a room. If you need more power you need to use a plug that is off a differen breaker in the panel maybe another bedroom or hallway or something. In other words find an intelligent electrician who is cool with it(there out there) and they will help you from starting a fire and having the fire department put out your stash..
GOOD LUCK (ITS NOT SO BAD)

yes you can purchase a light from your local hydroponic garden store.  They'll start a little over $200 for something good.
