Hey everyone! I just got my piercing done on Thursday. I went to a professional, and she told me the answers to all of these questions that you guys are asking! First off, someone said put neosporin on it... Bad idea! Don't put it on your piercing. The thing about it is it collects bacteria and will infect the cut. To clean your piercing, use Dial Antibacterial soap. After this, cleanse it with water and dry it with a q-tip. Then, mix 8 oz. of water with 1 tsp. of La Baleine salt which can be purchased at Kroger. It's next to table salt and is in a blue cylindrical container. After this, spray Bactine on it. Bactine will help it heal faster and can be found in First Aid. I move mine around so the skin does not heal into is. As far as working out, do not do crunches etc. for 2-3 weeks but you can run etc. Swimming, Johnson and Johnson sell waterproof patches at any general store that are great. Some people even wrap seran wrap around themself and then duck tape it, but I think the bandage is a little less tacky. Don't ever use peroxide, alcohol or anything like that. Follow my cleaning guidelines and you'll be in good shape!

Yeah i've had mine done for about 7 months now. and well i can say it's somewhat infected. Everything depends on your body, some may get infected..some can change rings and have it not bother them. I suggest you wait a few months but even i waited a few months and still i have a big bloody bump. as for someone who asked if the balls fall off, yeah they can. mine did. make sure their tight. i came home one day and it's gone. i still use it because somehow it stays in..it's the orginal one i got pierced with. be careful on the barbells you choose because those have a big factor in infections, that's how I think i got mine. I'm not giving up and taking it out tho..same thing happened with my cartilage. i mean unless it gets really bad. as for going in water, i highly suggest you don't, it's like getting your ears pierced..you can't swim for a few weeks. although swimming in the sea would be alright. the salt water will help heal it. the place i went to also told me NOT to put anything with alcohol in it. but everyones body reacts differently..so all this advice may not apply to everyone!

Hey i got my belly button done about 3 weeks ago. People said that it hurts really bad but it doesn't it felt like someone pinching you. thats all it only stings for about an hour after you get it done then the pain is over. i clean mine with softsoap clear, what you do is take a q-tip and wet it then get the body healing fluid off the ring ( this fluid is normal it just comes out if the body where it is periced ) and it crusts on the ring. then i lather soap and put it on the ring and i spin it through the piercing about 10 times then wash it out and spinn it 3-4 times while water runs through and let air dry also never use alcohol because it will dry it out if you have any questions just email me @ tansy2cute@hotmail.com

I'm 15 and suppose to go get my belly button pierced in about 2 weeks! i'm really scared i hate needles but i think the belly pierced is so cute! but i have tons of questions. . . 1.) how long do you have to wait til you change the ring? 2.) when i first get it should i use a barbell or ring? 3.) tell me the truth please. . . does it really hurt when they pierce it and what does it feel like? 4.) what do i need to put on it if it gets infected? 5.) do yall have any tips on how to keep it from getting infected? 6.) does it hurt when you sit down. . i wear my pants below my belly button anyways. . but i was wondering? 7.) does it get snaged on alot of stuff when your asleep or just doing stuff? well thats all i can think of. . please e-mail me and tell me the answers cause i probably won't be back on this website. . it would really mean alot and i don't care who e-mails me. . just give me all the advice you have! thanks so much and please help!! Hey everyone!!! I had my piercing done about a 2 years ago...i waited a year before i changed mine from a ring to a bar and had no issues. The first few months your body has to get use to a strange object in it so it may swell or get infected but just keep cleaning it. It doesn't hurt to get it done if you go to a proper piercer, i would suggest at a beauty clinic or specialised Piercer. I would wait about a month to go swimming and to tan just to be safe. If it is infected in may feel uncomfortable but it shouldn't be any more painful than a sore throat or sore legs after going to the gym. Never put a band aid or gauze over it as it it will increase the sweat and increase the risk of infection...leave it free to air and just be careful with your stomach for the first few months...be careful with putting on your clothes so it doesn't pull on it. Other than that, just be normal...it's just fat in those areas, it can't do any damage to you if you are careful and just monitor it... Any more info, email me jewlzz_a@yahoo.com

I have been reading some of your responses and allot of them are quite controversial. I am thinking of getting one sometime soon and I am just finding some info on it. But I think that since there is so many different types of rings that can be put in and materials that make them that you should LISTEN TO YOUR PIERCER and your piecer only. They are the ones who know what type of piercing you are getting and no one else. There is different places, different techniques, and different metals. This can all affect what happens to your belly and your ring. I advise you get the best quality or the near best quality kind. Do not go for the cheap ones there will be more chance of infection.

He he. You guys are silly. They dont take chunks out of your stomach! Tanning doesnt effect it to horribly. Mine got a little dry afterwards. So i went to a naturalist's store and bought a bottle of Vitamin E lotion. It doesnt sting or anything... it revives the dry skin. A few good tips I got from my peircer was 1.wash hands before handleing your peircin (with antibacterial dial soap) 2.wash the ring with the soap (dont take it out ofcourse) 3.clean it with alchol with a q-tip 4. use neosporin with a q-tip an rub around the ring Try to move it as much as possible! No pain No Gain! I havent changed mine yet and ive had it for a while.Changing it all depends on how fast your body excepts the ring. You peircer will advise you not to obring your own ring because the ring they use is already sterilized and sealed in its own package to reduce and signs of infections. So think about some of those things :)

whatz good look i got my belly botton peicered professionaly and the docter told me the best wy 2 peicered it by ur yourself it to: 1. Get a belly botton ring. 2. Get a safety pen and disinfected. 3. Peicered it from the botton up. 4. Get Some tooth pick. 5. Put ALOT ALOT of ice on it from bout 20 minutes if you are scared put in on it for 30 minutes and be sur 2 put a ice in your belly botton if yours goes in so it will be munb. 6. Be sure 2 eat before u get it peicered cause when u put the ice on it you would feel like troughing up. 7. After the time passes with the ice on your stomach pinch it 2 see if ti's numb if u feel it a little bit and where you you pinch truns white it's ready. 8. Then get the safety pen and push it trough it woun't hurt it will probably go trough easily do it fast so it will sill be numb. 9. Then move the safety pen up and down leave it in 4 bout 3 minutes at the same time moving it, and if u can while you are doin that put ice on it 2. 10.Then put a tooth pick trough it leave it in for 5 minutes if u can try 2 get the plastic tooth pick if u scered sometihing might happened put nothing will. 11.Then after the 5 minutes have passed take the tooh pick out and put the belly botton in. 12.Clean it with a Q-tip wet with alcohol, and if u want put neoporing on it 2 put the swelling down but do it with a Q-tip, if u want wash it with dail antebacrial soap. 13.You can change it after a month and a half and if it itch change the belly ring your body is not used 2 it but when it's healed you can put in back i but if it itches take it off. 14.You CAn go swimming after 2 months if it's healed. 1 LUV!!

ok kids i just got my belly button peirced like 3 days ago i have felt no pain at all i have had my belly peiirced previously but i had to take it out because it was infected! and when i got it dun 3 days ago i barley felt a thing i had to ask him if it was over yet so just do it! and peroxide is the BEST thing to clean it with trust me. so ok just fill the small cap of peroxide to the top and then place it on your belly ring and let up belly button soak it up then wipe clean with KLEANEX not a cloth or towel those are crawling with bacteria and if u but about three pinches or see salt in a shot glass then plase it on your new piercing for ten minutes it will help speed the healing prosess! DONT CHANGE YOUR BELLY RING UNTIL YOU CAN PLAY WITH IT AND FEEL NO PAIN IF U CHANGE IT BEFORE THEN YOUR BOUND TO IRRATETE IT SO REMEMBER! hope that helps p.s.peroxide really works great and it cleaans all infection.

ok..NEVER CLEAN Your BELLY PIERCING WITH SOUP..ANTIBACTERIAL OR NOT..NEVER CLEAn IT WITH SOAP, you should never purposely take water to your belly piercing because if you put soap on it..there is no way in the world that you can wash all of it out, and water should never be put on your belly piercing because you can never get all the water out because you can't get into the actual piercing..and imagine..have all that dirty water and soap ..brewing in that little hole of your belly piercing..if your gonna clean it people..clean it RIGHT.. if there is anything coming out of your belly piercing..get immediate cleaning aids..or..just aids..it is not I REPEAT not NORMAL for your belly piercing to be bleeding or pussing.. to clean it..don't use soap..PLEEase...if your belly piercing is swollen..red and pussing..do as followed: 1. Do NOT CHANGE THE BELLY RING, that'll just make it worse 2. Get Bactine..if you don't have any and you have a belly piercing..GO TO YOUr LOCAL PHARMACY AND GET ONE RIGHT NOW..if you have bactine..hurry up and take a cotton swab and squeeze sum bactine onto it..then carefully take your cotton swab and begin cleaning around your piercing..carefully, if puss is coming out on the cotton swab as you clean..KEEP GOING untill..there is less..or isn't anymore puss coming out.. 2. THEN,....BACITRACIN OINTMENT..DOES WONDERSSS..after you have cleaned out yer b.p.. with Bactine..take another cotton swab and dab some bacitracin onto it and smooth it around or on your belly piercing ..move the belly ring as little as possible to avoid having it become irratated. 3.The swelling should slowly begin to reduce. 4. Repeat this process until the swelling has completely gone. 5. Make sure you clean it EVERY NIGHT..its ok if you don't clean it..for maybe a night or 2..but..3 nights..yer a goner..be sure you clean it EVERY NIGHT to avoid that. ..i have had my belly piercing for a full 7 YEARS..i have ..yes encountered infections, but, i used that method..and all was well..i have cleaned it with bactine.. everyday for a full 7 years and i have never again encountered another infection. I have a lot of ??? Ummmm.....well, im only 13 is it ok if i get it so soon? and when u get it done , can u bring in ur own belly ring so they dont put in theirs? also, when u sleep on it does it get any worse or it doesnt matter? is it better to get it at a normal piercing place or should u get it at the doctors?is a hoop better than the bar thingy? I live in Florida so when should i get it done so it gives me more time to go swimming? if it gets infected should u go to a doctor?does it hurt when you change the ring?how about when u clean it, does it hurt!?? Heya, when you get ur belly pierced if you have sensitive skin make sure you get it done professonale it will cost more but its safer. YOU CANT FEEL IT WHEN YOU GET IT NUMBED!!!!!!! you can also chose what type of ring you get it pierced with, it might be best to get a proper gold one. Also about cleaning, dip a cotton bud into some salt water and move the cotton bud away from the hole. make sure you use a clean cotton but each time. clean twice a day or even more. the hole will weap abit havin a liquid comein out (only a small about) when this has stopped (*it can take upto 5 months to stop weeping)you can take it out. make sure u try to move the bar up and down so the hole dosent heal around it. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Ok look, halfway through reading this I cant believe some of you. No offense, but people READ through this forum before you ask a question, maybe someone already asked and it was already answered. On my birthday, June 9th, I got mine done, it depends on your skin if it hurts bad, theres this one chick I know who has sensitive skin, so this type of thing would hurt her a lot, for me it felt like scraping yourself against the edge of a table and that burning numbing feeling you get from it. My piercer said avoid water because of the bacteria and chlorine in lakes and pools, but if you want to, patches or neosporin works. Neosporin does help, and so does something else {I forget the name} salt and alcoholic based treatments will get it infected possibly, so avoid that. Do what is recommended by your piercer as long as you know you can trust their directions. I clean mine out 3 times a day, its a little red, but its fine, and hurts when I lay on my stomach. Plus, just go to the people ahead of time if you have questions and ask them before you get it done. That might be better than people here because from what I see everyone was told at least a little different than everyone else

I'm planning on getting my belly botton pierced soon. It's the beginning of summer now and it's really hot out, I do go swimming sometimes because I have a pool and I lay out in the sun a lot too. I wanted to get it done now so I'd have it for the summer but from what I've read it looks like I should wait till the end of summer because of the sun and the pool, but if I wait I'll be starting soccer so I don't know what to do. Could somebody please tell me when would be the best time to get it done? I was wondering about the pain too, most of the people who have written in here said it was just a little pinch when you get it done but is it bad after that? And how long does it hurt after it's done? I hope that somebody can answer my questions sometime soon! Thanks.

I got my belly pierced 3 weeks ago and i havent had any problems with it. The piercer gave me a little bottle of salt water and thats what i use to clean my belly button. To avoid infection i suggest to really keep it clean, clean your hands before u touch it, wear loose clothing as tight clothes can irritate it and i really wouldnt advise goin swimming. Its not just the chlorine. There is always going to be bacteria and dirt in the pool no matter how much chlorine there is. just think of when little kids go to the pool. Do you really want that stufff getting in your pierced belly? and for everyone thats concearned about the pain...there really isnt any. well i guess everyone is different, but mine was just like 5 sec pinch and thats it. And it doesnt get THAT sore after either. yes, u sit up normal and u can sleep fine. Just not on you stomach for the 1st 2 weeks or so cuz it the belly button will still be a little sore....well good luck:-)

Hey guyz!! I've had my belly button pierced since janurary 20!! I was really nervous and thought it would hurt but it didnt.. My belly didnt get red at all or really get infected.. it was alittle swore about 3 weeks after i got it done.. i think b.c i got into a swimming pool.. So i would recmend not getting in a swiming pool for about a month or 2. I got in tha ocean and it helped heal it.. Oh yah DO NOT CLEAN IT WIT RUBBING ALCHOL OR PROXIDE.. I got mine done professionaly and they told me to clean it wit dial soap while i was in tha shower and to make sure i got all of tha soap out then to use a q-tip when i got out to dry it off.. NOT A TOWEL.. Then u can clean it wit bactine.. Make sure u wash it off wit water or do it while ur in tha shower.. They said to keep tha redness down and to help heel faster that u could use saline solution.. Thats all i use to clean it now. I waited about a month to change mine barbell and its not infected now.. i got my belly piercing today and my hands were kinda clammy and sweating a little bit. she made me stand up, dotted with the marker, used the clamp thingie and then she told me to breathe deeply and i did.. she kinda tricked me because she said "i will make it a little bit more higher, let me mark it" and in the corner of my eye i saw the marker on the table and she picked up the needle and stuck it in me.. i made a face like it hurt REALL bad but it didnt. just like a pinch.. and then all done. but after i was done, i walked outside REALLY fast and i was dizzy. my sister told me to go back inside and i sat down, drank water, and my mom gave me apple juice.. after 10 minutes, i felt better and i went home. but the 10 minutes, i felt like puking, passing out, and my mom said my lips were pure white. the lady who pierced it says its common to younger girls. just before you pierce your navel, EAT BEFORE! and dont do it behind your mom's back. thnk god i didnt because if i did, i wouldve been dead and fainted without her because she helped me drink the juice.. i know its silly but its true. so yea.. and i was SWEATING those 10 minutes and the Airconditioner was on.. sighs.. well.. yea.. IT DIDNT HURT! ps- the river thingie for the vacation, i say dont go in because the river isnt clean, if it was the ocean, the salt would probably be good. so yea.. you could always patch it over it.. =)

Hey guys! I got my belly button pierced a couple days ago...5 I think. Well my belly button was red for a while but now it seems to be going away. I used Bactine spray and some Q-Tips from the very begining. The belly button didnt hurt during the first day and right after I got it done it only bled a little drop so it was fine. The thing I DO reccomend is to not take baths while your tummy is healing. All the dirty water gets into your hole and makes it hurt and get red. I learned this the hard way...The soap and shaving gel really mess you up. But once again I said Im fine...Some gooey stuff comes out of the hole in the begining...Its just the healing process...But as long as you keep it clean you should be fine! Oh and also I reccomend getting it done with a Barbel because me and my friend got them done together and at different places and they gave HER a ring and she hates it...They rub against your clothing and hurt you. I have a Barbel and its cool looking and doesnt rub against anything! Oh and DONT lay on your tummy! Duh!!!

You People asking too many questions..first of all if you really decide to get it done you don't need to ask each other this questions..because you all different, your body is diffrent..so the healing process can take longer or shorter for each of you..I have my belly button pierced..well actually second time now..when i got it the first time the guy who did it for didn't take enough skin so i thought it would fall off eventualy..but even thou i had in for close to a year i just took it out and let it heal for over a year..i went to a place where I'd wanted to pierce and asked the guys if my belly is ready to be pierced again so after a year ( or so ) i got it redone..the guy did a great job I'm happy. For people who ask if it hurts..YES IT DOES..it's your body and you put a needle in it..if it hurts then you know you alive:))..BUT the pain is not something you can't take ..honestly I'd do it hundred times if i have too it's only for a second and even thou on my body it takes me about 6 months to heal it's okay..it's all worth it..My friend for example got it done and in 2 weeks it looked good ..so her belly healed faster then my..and for people who wonder how they should clean it just use antibacterial soap ( in a foam )..they recommend the dial one..and also after the soap use BACTINE..Also when I got it done for two days it was okay basically didn't even hurt..but on the second day i went into shower and it started bleeding like crazy..it didn't stop for over an hour( honestly i got scared even thou this is not my first piercing and i have my tongue done and my nose)..but in this case i just cleaned around the piercing but didn't move it for a da..the next day i started cleaning regularly and its been fine..so for ally you girls who want to get it done..don't be scared it hurts but only for a second and i would recomend doing it at winter time so by the time summer comes you won't have to worry about swimming, taning..and everything else.. I hope this all helps you out!!

hi evryone, for you guys that are asking about the pain youve got to remember that everyone is diferent, but i can tell you to relax if you anticipate pain then it is more likely to hurt becuase you tense your muscles, just calm down and it will go fine its just a little pinch. swimming in salt water just after the piercing is done is ok and sometimes even recomended as it helps to heal the piercing, chlorinated water isnt good though, wait however long your piercer tells you to before swimming in that.. i know thats a pain to, cuz i got mine done and im on swimming squad, that sucked but dems da rules. i wouldnt have a clue about tanning cuz i dont do that, but i would go without it for the recommended amount of weeks and when you see the white as skin just think how cool your new piercing is going to look with tanned skin hope this helps you guys >_<

I just got my belly pierced today and all i gotta say is WHO EVER says it hurts might be exaggerating. If you go to a place where they know how to pierce and they do everything correctly then it WILL NOT hurt. The claspy things don't really hurt either. It's a bit uncomfortable, but NOTHING you can't stand. This is my story: I went in and signed all the papers with my mom and a friend. They took me into this room with the bed thing on it, i lifted up my shirt and the piercing guy was telling me how to clean it (i was recommended antibacterial dial soap, not bactine or w/e) and i saw how he was taking out the needle from a brand new package and stuff. so all was well. i got it pierced with a barbell (don't let anyone tell you its mor difficult with a barbell- it's not! just move it up and down and clean it). so then, he put the little dot and it looked perfect. right in the middle and not too far up (btw, the more far up you get it, the more chance of infection and the more it will hurt). so i said yup, everything is good. i layed down on the bed, he cleaned my belly button, he put the claspy thing on and made sure it was all good, and then he took out the needle and dipped it in vaseline thing so it can go in quick. i then said "it won't hurt, right?" he goes "nope" and as he said "nope" he stuck the needle through. :) it was fun. i was like "THAT'S IT?!" he's like "yup, all done" he then put the barbell in and i'll admit it stung a little tiny bit because he had put alcohol on it to make it COMPLETELY clean (even if it was brand new) so the alcohol made it sting just a little tiny bit. but NOTHING painful. so that's all. my barbell is the type with obviously the small ball on top and the bigger ball on the bottom. it's neon orange with white stripes. looks very cool :) IT DOESN'T HURT AT ALL to get it pierced. You can get a ring or a barbell, no difference. and i've cleaned it already 2 times with water and the soap and it works like magic. :) very refreshing. ok kids, now go get yer belly pierced! lol

I am 13 years old n i got mine done 3 weeks ago. i am from west Belfast in northern Ireland . my mum supported me through the whole thing. mine cost 35.00 in hair apartment. the girl that don't it was very nice told me how 2 keep it clean. first of all DO NOT use alcohol that creates and attracts bacteria. the girl that pierced my belly button gave me a bottle of ' metal antiseptic' and its fantastic. mine has not swell , itched , leaked with out puss or annoyed me. for the people waiting 2 get theirs done - know what it feels like ? having your Tiberculocious injection again. thats all. it is not sore and it does not even take 2 minutes. the legal age for belly button piercing is 14 over in Belfast . but the girl said 2 me i was all right because i looked old enough. if u r waiting 2 get it done - have something 2 eat because if u do not you have more chance of being nervous, fainting or feeling dizzy. if u have had a belly piercing already and its a bit in a slant its all right . after a while it straightens up. it only slants because its only pierced and your skin is not used 2 the bar. bars r better than hoops. bars with 2 balls do not catch in clothing. hoops cud rap around a button in a blouse or a ring that your wearing and rip out. so do not use hoops use a bar with 2 balls n no dandling bits. i went swimming 2 weeks after i got it done. and nothing happened 2 it. i just put my ' metal antiseptic' on b4 i got in the pool and after i got out. hope i have giving a lot of girls the info that they needed from Stacey xx

no offense but alot of you need to do a quick google search. for starters, for swimming you need to wait more than a month. more like half a year or longer really. you body is trying to make a new "skin tube" around the piercing and this takes a good bit of time. people forget that this is an open wound in your body and should be treated as such. if you must swim, or hot tub, or even take a bath, get some bandages that form a waterproof bond and use some petroleum jelly around the holes too make sure water stays out. And clean it as soon as possible afterwards Asking does it hurt is a dumb question. there is a needle passing thru a half inch or better chunk of skin, what do youi think. not to mention everyone lvl of pain tolerance is different. it will hurt as much as it does. and yes you can re-pierce anything if the jewelry has come out. scar tissue is tougher than regular skin so it will have some odd issues with it but it can be done. lastly, if you really want a piercing, talk to a professional, don't ask a bunch of people that think they are experts because they had their cousin use a sewing needle to do something.

hi i have had my belly pierced 4 about 2 week now and i have to sey that it didnt hurt 1 bit it just felt like a tug. but i supose that is because they used numbin stuff lol. if any1 out there is thinking about getting it done, just go and get it done. why you girls stressin trust me i know how it feels i pierced my belly 6 times by myself and den i went to get it pierced profeesional it didnt even hurt i was exspecting more..then it got ripped out so me i love the pain lols so i went and got the bottom done and then i got the top pierced about a month ago and it didnt even hurt and it was scar tissue so now i ahve 2 and ill admit on my top i got swellin but thatz cuz i bought those rings from claries and ardenes and put it on the bottom so when i was sleepin or sittin they would be touchin and it got irritated so my advice go for it..it dont hurt...its worth it..and jus have funn..got any other questions add me shortiie_ballah@hotmail.com keep in touch guyz

I got my belly pierced 6 days ago. It stung like a bad pinch for around 3 seconds then went to just a dull twinge. By no means was it unbearable pain though (plus I'm used to tattoos so I have a really high pain threshold). As for the people who said their piercings seemed to just spontaneously "rip out" this is called Rejection. Think of it as an allergic reaction your body was having to either the metal in your piercing, or just having anything in that area at all. The body's immune response is to gradually push the piercing to the surface and out of the skin. It is usually more common in piercings that are close to bone eg eyebrow piercings. Its a sign that your body cannot handle piercings in that area. Those who are prone to Keloid scarring (raised scar tissue) should NEVER get pierced. I'm a remedial massage therapist and will finish beauty therapy in a few months, so I know anatomy inside out and backwards lol, and I studied up on the effects before having mine pierced. Alcohol's only ill affect is that it over-dries the area. Chlorine impaires the healing rate in all wound areas, and if anyone's been swimming around with a nasty bacterial infection it can cross easily to someone with a recent piercing or wound. I'm Australian, and here the No.1 recommended piercing cleaning product is called "Adnohr's Ear care antiseptic Spray", not sure if its in the US though. Its essentially a mixture of Benzalkonium Chloride and Methyl Hydroxybenzoate. So any after piercing care products containing those ingredients are usually a safe bet. Tanning is not recommended near any wound areas. Yes UV kills golden staff infections etc (which you are NOT gonna get from a belly piercing!), but it also damages skin tissue (not to mention premature ageing effects, ladies please think of you skin's long term health and vitality, you do wanna look great when you're in your 40s too right?!!!) iyah right i think all you lot are from america? but im from the uk an believe me we all have a bigger chance of gettin infected then you lot anyway i got myn done about 4 weeks ago now an i was just on msn about to clean my bar with anti-ceptic lotion (liquid) and i decided to serch for new bars redy for the 29th of march so i can take it out(i bin counting) an change the bar anyway i read all your thought tips n questions and im going to answer them x the night i got it dun i went bk to excercising gently (sit ups) and it wasnt painful it just throbbed, when i got it done i was scard of it hurting an i was with my friend hu had hers done in the same place infact it didnt even hurt it was lyk gettin your eyebrows waxed for the first time jsut shock then you realise why the hell did u waste your breath yellingx. As for cleaning well the piercer recomended not usin anti ceptic he sed just clean it with an egg cup and an warm salt water tht stung first time but as in a kinda sting you wud get frm putting a cut in salt water. i recommend NOT to play withit cus it will produce pus. My mom sed to use this anti ceptic an it works a treat iw asnt spose to take it out yet but i did it anyway an i feel much better by cleaning the bar with it 3 times a day an putting it bk in because anti ceptic helps healing aswellx so good luck on these facts any more questions add me on msn xtreacle--x@hotmail.co.ukx

Hi. I know this is a very late reply, but if anyone wants to know in the future, here it is. I think you are able to go swimming. I went to the beach as soon as it was pierced, as the shop was across the road. And a week later I went swimming in a pool. Nothing went wrong and it's 8 weeks later. Completely healed and healthy. I really recommend getting it pierced. It doesn't hurt that much and I HATE pain & needles. I normally cry every time i need a blood test, vaccination, etc. but with this i didn't. Just breathe, don't look at it while they are piercing the navel & try and concentrate on the roof or something. It really helped me. Hope this helps for anyone. =] -Alana, 14.

I got my belly button done about a couple months ago.It didnt hurt at all.They just mark it& then they tell you to lay down on this chair and they tell you to take deep breathes and exhale and they just stick it in real fast i thought it was going to hurt big time!! but it didnt hurt just a pinch it was sore for a day or two but now its fine i can sleep on my stomach again the only thing is that they pierced it with this hoop and they told me that i had to push one side and pull the other side to get it out and so i dont know how to do that i have to go back in like 2 weeks of next month and get it changed but i say if you want it done gooooo for it!! dont be scared it doesnt hurt at allll except for the soreness but thats not bad at all.

I got my belly button pierced 2day! Im still excited! i went to a doctor to get it pierced bc thats the only way my mom would let me. She didnt even numb or put a clamp on it but it wasnt as bad as i thought. About 30 seconds of what feels like a little shot. Mine is bleeding a lil bit. Mine also was pink and blue-ish colored and itched a little but nothing horrible. It's only been a few hours and the color is back to normal. Im horrible when it comes to pain and i hate needles, lol. It looks really cute and i hope i dont have any problems. Dont be so worried about the pain, if it hurts really bad then u went somewhere where they dont know what they r doing. Honestly, right now, it's not even sore.

HI I took my daughter 2 weeks ago to have our navel pierced for her 16 b-day. She went first and said it was hurting which made me even more of chicken to go next , but since this was so important for her I did, the clamp felt like pressure (not bad) he did not use any numbing i laid down and it did hurt when he pushed the needle through , but really it was only 2 min. , then mine didn't hurt I forgot I had it for a few days until my shirt got caught, but my daughter says hers is painful still, I have some belly fat so I don't know if that helped me or what is different , because she has a high pain tolerance and I don't. Also we were told to use DR.BRONNER'S MAGIC SOAP PURE CASTILE SOAP which is an organic soap. It seems to work good any questions email me at tonkidz@aol.com good luck !!!

If your nervous about your percing to hurt ask them to numb it. There isn't like a major difference but you ownt be able to feel as much as you wld if it wasnt numb. I had mine periced on june 8th. I wldnt reccomend going swimming until the red is completly gone, to speed up the process use warm water and sea salt.I guess the same thing wld aply for swimming. But keep cleaning it and etc. I have barbell and I like it, I don't know the difference between the ring and the barbell. I don't think it makes that much of a difference because barbells more popular and you see a lot of people using them. One more thing- for those who keep asking if it hurts and etc your questions were already anwsered in the previous post. So ask something new :]

I'm planning to get a belly piercing, but I have a couple of questions about it, 1. How long do I have to wait to do my regular workout again? 2. Do I need, or can I use something to protect the piercing from the sweat? 3. How long do I have to wait to get a tan (use tanning lotions and tanning bed)? All your inputs to this will be very appreciated... thanks a bunch!!!

i do alot of excercise in the form of ballet and modern i do it 4 bout 2-4 hrs a day depending on the days aswell as skool i just wore a plaster as rubbing makes it school i wud leave it a wk at least as i cudnt move 2 days after i had it done as it was sore but in a few days it was ok clean it twice a day! gd luck! hope all goes well! :-) xXx

hey gurl. you can work out anytime you would like to after you get your peircing. jus watch out for when you strecth your stomach because that could hurt. but other than that do whatever you want. and the hole tannin thing i would wait jus a lil while befor you do that. like maybe a month or even less. and here is a lil tip. if you soak your belly botton in warm salt water for like 10 min. every night it will help the redness go away alot faster. peace out yall.

many you should definately wait to get your belly pierced again. whoever pierced it the second time really messed up. your belly ring should not rip through your skin. i recommed that you wait a year to get it redone. give your belly time to heal properly.

1. I suggest maybe to go at your workouts less. Wait about a month or two until u start stretching your tummy area so it doesn't rip out 2. I suggest u tape a gauze patch to your stomach and the an eye patch (i know how weird this sounds but it works)so it doesn't get hit and wrap it around with clean bandages 3. Wait at least 6 weeks before u expose your navel directly to the sun so it doesn't crust up. This can slow the healing process by quite a while. Good Luck All.

I just got my belly button pierced 2 days ago and it hardly hurt...just when they put the needle through and a little throbbing afterward. I played in a soccer game yesterday and it was totally fine. I put some gauze on it and held it down with a bandaid. I was hoping to go tanning but after reading these it doesn't sound like it's a good idea. MARIPOSATRISTE, why do you say no hydrogen peroxide or alcohol? The place I got it done said clean 1x a day with alcohol and iodine, and my soccer trainer suggested hydrogen peroxide.

I'd wait a little longer. I had my belly pierced back August 2003. It wasn't that painful and I've really been taking care of it, but just last week, the entire area is swollen, hurts and puss and blood is coming out. I don't even go swimming. The shop told me to wait 6-9 months, not weeks, before even changing it. Also, you can see the bar like it's going to pop right out the middle ;( I think belly rings are so cute but this has been really painful the last two days.

is there any tips for cleaning it so it doesn't get infected? i went to a doctor to get it pierced and they said to use alcohol and slide the ring up and down as well as using neosporin. Ive been doing this but it is still red and sore. thursday will be a week since i got it done
