If a dog contracts tick disease (summer 2000), would that contribute to, or be the cause of, epilepsy now (winter 2003-04)? She is a golden retriever/labrador retriever mix and just turned 12 years old on Jan. 11th of this year.

Yes! I have a beagle that has had mega seizures and I have been dealing with this for 3 years. His problems started as a result of lyme disease. He was seizure free
for a year and then had another episode. After being retested for Lyme disease, his bloodwork came back positive and he had to be put back on antibiotics for 3 weeks. A tick bite that results in lyme disease can cause seizures.
