I have stress fractures in both of my shins. I have had them for almost a year, and they don't seem to be getting any better...I need some advice.  My Dr. told me there is nothing he can do.  I went through physical therapy.

Hello, Ashley

How did you get your shin splints? If you got them through sports, running - the reason could be that the shock absorbtion in your shoes is not enough for you. That may be becouse of foot deformity which you can discuss with your Dr. But the good news is you will get your pain down by tryin one product calls SOLE CUSTOM FOOTBEDS.They are heat moldable, "doyourself" equivalent to thous what podiatrists make exactly for your problem, but MUCH CHEAPER!!!  Check www.yorsole.com, you will find a LOT of useful information there and UK
distributor. You will forget about your problem soon enough!

GOOD LUCK!!

I have multiple stress fractures in both my shins too and something called a "dreaded black line" in my right.  I haven't been running in 4 months and I know how it feels.  It sucks not being able to run.  My doctor did give me something called a bone stimulator that appears to be helping.  You should talk to your doctor about getting one.  Hope you get better soon!

I had that too. Mine went away in four months, but my doctor had me use a bone stimulator.  Talk to your doctor about getting one of these.  Also, I know someone who had to have an operation done for that, it basically involved having metal rods inserted into her bones.  Talk to your doctor about both these options
