I have a Sony DCR VX 2000. The following is inscribed on the lens: 6-72mm 1:16 0 50.
I understand that 6-72mm expresses the range of focal length. What is the significance of the other numbers?

1:1.6 refers to the maximum aperture of the lens - the other symbol is probably a O with a / running through it... the attachment size of the lens.
