RANT MODE ON

WHY do you have a dog if you can't afford to give it the proper care it needs?!?!

Companion animals need regular veterinary care, yearly vaccinations, etc., just as a human child does.  You assume responsibility to do everything you can for that life when you adopt an animal.

RANT MODE OFF

How long have you let this situation go?

Take your dog to the nearest shelter or ASPCA.  Tell them what is wrong and ask them if they know of any vets that do work for people who can't afford it.  If the dog is very ill, you may need to sign it over to the shelter so that it gets the care it needs, it will then be put up for adoption.  You have to think about what is best for the dog, not for you.  Then please don't get another animal until you are able to care for it.

Maybe I sound harsh, but this is one of the few things that really upset me.

Why do you have a dog if you can not afford to provide medical attention when needed? I suggest that you take it to the nearest shelter and surrender it.

I have a 9 month old male Chihuahua. I've made sure he has had all his shots, and he has been neutered. My question is I started giving him table food for treats. Now he refuses to eat the dog food he has eaten since he was 8 weeks old. Is there any way to get him back to eating his own food?

Either give up your chihuahua or get a loan or something. How long has this gone on for? Hope your chihuahua gets better soon!
