If you are going to answer with a dumb answer or statement just don't answer at all. But Track was started in 776 b.c. and was the first athletic sport. The first Track race was only 600 feet long.

the history of track and field first started when in the year 776 BC, Koroibos, a cook from Elis, won the stadium foot race that was 600 feet long. This is when Olympic Games began. This event, soon to be known as track and field, was the only event held for the first 13 times. The sport has progressed a lot since bare-foot marathons and 100 meter sprints. At first slaves were used to run track and field and it wasn't until the 12th century that athletics were used.

Track and field originated in ancient greece, and was mainly for competition to please their god/gods... there's the history for you.
