Gliders are expensive to buy (between $150-$300 each) and it is highly recommended that you get two so that they don't get lonely.  The cage needs to be fairly large (at least 3 feet by 2 feet the bigger the better) and can cost around $150 if you make it yourself more ($300+) if you don't.  The cage will need a large tail-safe wheel ($15-$50) and toys that are safe for gliders.  As for the food it costs less then $10 a month.  The vet bill can be $30 for the visit and additional fees depending on the visit. No you do not need a license just to have one as a pet, but they are illegal in certain areas.

Sugar gliders generally cost about $200-300 US a piece, and some breeders will sell the second glider slightly less because it's better to have two gliders than just one. (think of spending your WHOLE life with aliens, but none of your own kind). A great site for information.

Do your reading. Sugar Gliders have many many benifits, when they are treated with the love and attention and respect they deserve. No other animal will give you the love, devotion, and loyalty a glider will. But being exotic animals, and needing as much attention as they do, they are NOT creatures to be bought on a whim or without being FULLY prepared.

If you do decide to get gliders, be sure to really look into diets and all. It's a good idea to have cage, a supply of food, and a 'glider-proof' room for them.

For more tips on actual buying, and some more info on diets, this site is good:

And then for info on building your own cage (the best and cheapest way to go):

*it's a general 'search' on an outside source for cage building*

I got one of my glider for $40 AND another for free, both included cages. you do not have to have a license to have or breed, only to sell rehoming fee does not count. I got the free one on craigslist.com . Don't buy one over $100 okay? Heres another good site to learn about them I LOVE THIS SITE! http://www.skinhorse.net/gliders/
