Well. I have wanted to get my bellybutton pierced for a while now, and of course, my parents wont let me.. I decided that I was going to do a project all about it and stuff.. but then.. I was @ the mall yesturday, and I asked my mom if I could get my cartilage pierced, and she said yes, but then she said not to ask her to get n e thing else pierced.. and I really want my bellybutton pierced.. so I came up with factors. either fo sure get my cartilage pierced this weekend and not get n e thing else done until I can sign fo myslef (im 14..15 in june) or should I do research on the bellybutton piercing and give to the parents in june so I can get it done 4 my bday(and risk them saying no)? and also, does n e body kno of a website to get really vital info on belly button piercings? and can u get ur bellybutoon pierced at thedoctors office? thanks 4 the help!-bubbawawa

heres the facts... i played hockey wit another girl from my team (shes 16) and she got her belly button pierced. i liked it a lot but after her surgery it closed up. we decided we were goin to go get ours done togetha if my mom would let me. so i asked my mom if i could get it done and she said yea for my 14th bday. so from the time around when i was gonna get it pierced from once i found out i could get it done i went to diff. sites and found out wat people said about if it hurts, looked at pix on how they do it... look at the needle size (im kinda freaked of needles its a 14 guage by the way... kinda fat). all they do (maybe diff. dependin on the place) is they mark where theyre goin to pierce it. then they seat ya down and they clean it with this orange crap n then alcohol... they clean the needle really well(brand new needle, brand new ring, brand new forceps) they grab ur bellybutton with the forceps, line the dot up wit the hole in the forceps n put a cork under neath or on top (whichever ur gettin done) so the needle goes in there... they tell ya to breathe in then breathe out a few times... u feel the needle slide in... sounds gross but its not really its cool to c a needle thru ur belly button =). and everyones like: does it hurt? typical question and the answer depends on ur tolerance for pain... for me it stung... sum people faint, sum people r like omg thats it? dont worry about it if ur gonna get it done go for it... i already have cartilage double pierced had lobes pierced but they closed... im still 13 and it wasnt all that bad... stays red for a while, pusses... clean it really well! itll heal faster! dont mess wit it unless ur hands r clean wit soap or anti bacterial soap... dont mess wit it a lot and soon enuf ull be able to change it... good luck to y'all if u got questions just write a message on here... ill check n respond when i can. ~kk~

Hey y'all. I begged my momma for like, a year to let me get my belly-button pierced. She always said no tho.(of course) Well, my momma's best friend has a daughter that's my age. We are friends. She had wanted hers done for a long time too. Well, my momma's friend got her's done and then let her daughter get her's done and then she talked my momma into letting me get mine done. She took me for a surprise for my Birthday. I got it done a month before I turned 14. I got really scared when we got there but I went through with it. I got there, my momma signed the paper, then I signed it. The took me back there, and told me to tuck my shirt under my bra in the front so my shirt didn't get in the way. They put this stuff called Iodine on my belly button and around it. It turns your skin like, this orange color and then they wipe it off with like, alcohol or something. Then they put a dot wiht a marker. Then they told me to sit down in the chair. They opened up brand new packs of needles and belly-button rings. They pierced mine with a 14-gauge. They check and see what size you need, depending on the thickness of your skin. After they sterilyzed the stuff, she told me to lay back in the chair and she put a clamp thing on it and lined it up with the hole. She said she was going to give it a really good shove and she pushed it through. It didn't really hurt. It just stung. It's like when you get pinched and it hurts for a few seconds and you tense of right when it happens because it stings. She attached the belly-button ring to the needle and pulled it through and then screwed the ball on. She gave me a list of instructions on how to take care of it. She explained everthing to me. I understood. When they say don't touch it or clean it until you wash your hands, they mean it! Don't play with it and don't change the belly-button ring until after 6 months or untill it is completely healed. She told me not to put alcohol on it because it will dry out the outside and the outside will be healed but the inside won't be and you will think it is all healed. Mine got infected because I didn't get the soap all out that good and I was on the verge of having to take it out. I read online that salt water helps heal it, so every day i would mix a bowl of warm water and pour salt in it. I would lay over the bowl on the floor and watch T.V. After about a week or 2, it was completely healed. Now it is perfectly fine and I am glad because it is no trouble at all. I love it. I want the bottom of my belly-button done now. hi guys i realllllly need help with convincing my mom. i just turned 15 on may 5 and i want my belly button peirced soooooooo bad. my dad's not a problem cuz my parents are divorced so he cant stop me plus i todl him and he wasnt happy bout it but he wasnt against it neither. he offered to pay for it so money's not a problem. like around march my grades were getting lower so i told my mom that if i got honors if i could get it peirced and she said yes. well i did get honors and she says she was kiddding, that she wasnt serious. she said it gets infected and i todl her it doesent if u clean i properly. my cuzin's wife (who is 21) talked to my mom but it didnt help. the problem with my mom is that she only speaks spanish and a tiny bit english. she doesnt noe how to read english so i cant take her to any sites and show her. i really need help here, i want it realllllly badly? don't u think its unfair how she tricked me. i might write a letter to her and then talk to her, i dont noe yet. if u have any suggestions please post it or email me at dashorty4u2h8@yahoo.com thanx!

hey, i hav my belly button pierced n i got it done when i woz 13 and my mum woz fine wit it. it hert like hell(but i didnt have it numbed) the only bad consequence of having it done is if it gets infected, like mine did! if this happens go to the place u got it pierced and if they say take it out, and let it heal over - do coz it will only get worse. also if yours does heal over the 2nd time will hert much more and dont do it more than 5 times coz u might not b able 2 hav kids! i had a pretty bad experience wit my belly but i think its worth it, so if you want it dat bad GO 4 IT! at the moment i really want my nose done and i woz wondering the good n bad pionts, does it hurt? bex x x x x

From what it looks like, there haven't been very many postings in the forum for a while, but I thought I'd lend some info to those of you who want to get your navel's pierced: 1. 13 is too young to get it pierced. Your body is still growing and there is a very good chance that it will migrate out, leaving a scar as well as scar tissue. 2. Don't get pierced at any shop that agrees to pierce you without your parent's consent. (It's usually 16, 18 in some places) These people are hacks and are only in it for the money. If they agree to to pierce your nipples or genitals and you are not 18, don't let them do it. They are molesting you and they can go to jail for this. 3. Don't pierce yourself. No matter how much you think you know what you're doing, you don't. DIY piercings are dangerous and they can have serious side-effects. Save your money and go to a professional. They are trained and know what they are doing. 4. If you do get it pierced, they best way to clean your fresh piercing is with saline solution. Saline is the same stuff that is in your body. If you can't get a hold of a saline solution, contact solution works just as well, just, make sure it's a "No Rub" solution. Healing time can take 4-6 months, however, I've heard of cases where it has taken a year to heal completely. Also, don't change the jewelry until it's completely healed. Store-bought jewelry is not as good quality as the jewelry that you were pierced with. It can irritate un-healed piercings and make the healing process longer. 5. www.bmezine.com has very good, un-biased information on every kind of piercing imaginable. If you want to know anything about piercings, you will most likely find it on that site. I hope anyone who reads this will make the right decisions when it comes to getting a piercing. Hey guyz, i wanted to help answer sum of the questions that i have read on this web-site! I have also wanted to get my bellybutton pierced for a LONG time 2! I am 16 and I have pretty good grades and I have a good boyfriend and I don't get into A LOT of trouble and of course my parents siad NO!!!! I was really mad! I finally convinced my mom 2 let me get it done. All I told her was that Imma bring up my grades and do house-work everyday! My friend recently got hers done 'bout 1 month ago! I tried 2 use her as a reference to have me get it done fatser...it didn't work! So it is now Feb-2005...and my mommy is gonna go 2 my skool on Mar-1-2005 to get my grade list 2 see if i am going 2 all of my classes and getting good grades. I already kno 4 sho' that imma get it done, i've been working really hard on my home~work & I have been studing 4 upcomming tets! I cant' wait becuz I already kno thats it'll look pretty and I can't wait.I have my nose pierced already and it didn't hurt! I actually had 2 get it done 3 times becuz tha 1st time it got caught on2 a pillow and the 2nd time i was sick so i had 2 take it out and the 3rd time I have it in & I had it 4 about 6 months. It doesn't hurt at all, just a little poke and ur done! I already have several pics of belly~button rings of jewlery! They are soooo pretty, huh? I hope the belly butoon pircing don't hurt! =)

Hey well I'm about to actually get my bellybutton pierced and i do have some advice for a lot of you who are 13+ and are begging your parents to get something pierced. I have my tongue pierced and believe me that was an experience and a half. A lot of piercings are fads .... but if you really want to have something pierced really think about it Do your research then take that information and present it to your parents showing them that your responsible and have thought the decision through carefully. Most parents who say no, understand the whole fad thing... (remember they were once young too) and don't want you to do something your going to get rid of a week later. HAPPY PIERCING!

i am 13 turning 14 in July i have wanted my bellybutton pierced for a long time, but every time i asked my mom she said no she just didn't get how important it was to me i researched and proved to her that it really isn't that big of a deal and it hardly ever gets infected really bad but she still said no so i just sat her down and told her y i wanted it done tell her u don't want it done cause every1 else has it done but because u like it and think its pretty also offer to help out around the house more and things like that after we had that talk she said that if i help keep the house cleaned up i can get it done at the end of august this worked for me and i hope it works for u too!!

I had my belly button pierced when I was 13 years old and it wasn't done by a professional and it was done by the gun they use to pierce your ears, the same day I went and had my first tattoo done, (the tattoo hurt more)well when i got home i started to clean it twice a day like the lady told me however, i did not do my research and I began to clean it with peroxide like the woman told me to do. Ne ways a few Weeks later i noticed that the skin was getting smaller and finally the ring just fell out through the skin which I was told that my skin had rejected the piercing and it was either from being pierced the wrong way with the wrong ring or i was allergic to the metal that the ring was made of. Anyways I just stuck to getting tattoos for awhile...Now I am 18 years old and I just had my belly button pierced again (professionally this time) and it looks fabulous. So please guys if you are going to get your belly button pierced make sure it's done right and maybe you should take your parents advice and wait, (my best friend died of a belly button piercing it was done by a professional and she cleaned it all the time but the piercer put it in to deep and the infection got in her blood stream)so take all the precaution you can and make sure that the place that the piercing's are being done in are clean.

Hey i have mine done i got it for my 16th birthday and my mom came with me she has hers done too, and it doesn't hurt but maybe just let your parents know some facts that it is good, but i recomend to get it done in the winter becuase then by summer it would have healed and you can go swimming and stuff, and i don't know any good web-sites but just ask around and talk to people about it.

I have wanted my belly button pierced for like 4 years now and my parents haven't caved yet but they keep saying when I'm 16. I think you should sit your parents down and explain to them about how bad you want it done it worked for me on my 2nd hole in my ears.

Hey I got my bellybutton pierced at age 13. It took me awhile to convince my mom but I did it...I mentioned I wanted it and she said no but then I showed her how pretty and beautiful they can be and I told her about the people I know that got it done.....now she even wants to get hers done!!! My advice to you is to do research about your piercing and show pic. and jewlery how the piercing can be soo pretty...you may even want to make a deal with your parents and say something how you will get good grdes or never get anything else pierced til you are old.... GOOD LUCK!!!

Hey...im 14 and i got my bellybutton pierced. I have 3 holes on one ear at teh bottom and i have 3 holes on the other ear at the bottom and my cartilage pierced. When i was in NC i asked my mom if i could get my bellybutton pierced and she said yes...Just talk to ur parents and say i really like it and this is what i want and if they say no u can get information from friends who have it...luckily my mom is young and willing to let me get these things done.. lol now i want my nose pierced but i dont know if it will hurt....email me cuteadrbl@aol.com if u have ur nose pierced!!! thanx

My mom and I had a fight about happiness and all that stuff. And it led to me getting my bellybutton pierced. She said if I come up with a good list of things that will change around the household, if she lets me get it pierced, then she'll considor it. I really want it pierced, but she doesnt think think its appropriate for a 13 yr old. And im turning 14 in one month. What can I do? And about how much is it to get it done and get it numbed??? the best thing is for all of u to wait a little while... ive heard that if u get anything pierced besides ur ears, before u stop growing, then ur body can eventually reject the piercing (push it out), and then u've wasted ur time, ur parents time, and money... plus the pain isnt worth it to do it more than once... and please dont pierce it ur self unless ur REALLY into all those gross infections.. get it done at a GOOD, REPUTABLE and CLEAN place, make sure they have everything sanitized too...

hey everyone. im pretty young. i got my belly pierced in january.i thought it was fine until i noticed the pierced skin seemed to keep getting smaller. i only changed it 2 times but the piercer says the nickel was making it shrink. i have to let it grow up. that sucks! has this ever happened to any1 else? HELP! plz.

My mom wouldn't let me pierce my bellybutton and i waited a long time so i just pierced it myself...and you no what its completly fine! and instead of getting a boring first ring a got a nice silver dangling jewl that looks relay good on me!! So if you really want it done go do it yourself I'm only 14 and not a professional so you really dont have to waste your money or your energy, just do it yourself..or if your scared a friend. Really all you need is alcohol a think needle that you can get really neway like a t a shoe maker or like an arts place thats where i got mine and the ring. and you'll never believe it my mom likes it!!

hey, i just got my belly button pierced last week for my 14th bday, my piercer was really good, she was so nice, and it didn't really hurt that much. it was just like somebody pushin somethin on ur navel. but anyways its kinda red, and there's like white around it, im kinda scared its gettin infected! ahh! what should i do?

hey, we're trying to get our parents to let us get our belly buttons pierced. but they wont budge!!! we're 13 and our parents don't think its right for girls our age to get stuff pierced other than ears i mean WHATS THE DIFFERENCE?! they automatically think that if we want anything other than our ears pierced we're total whores.. they are acting so strict that they dont even let us pierce our ears a second time.. i think they're just to over protective...please help us, how can we get them to say yes

when i was 12 i got my belly pierced but i left it out for a long time. Then one night it stared to hurt then i look at it and there was mold growing out of it then i went to the doctors and the said that it was because i was so fat and ugly now i have to get lypo.

Hey im 13 and im soon to be getting my bellybutton pierced. My mom is fine with it she doesnt care but its my dad that is the problem. But me and my mom are just going to do it behind my moms back.. hehe. So.. anyways.. i have my ears pierced and also the 2nd hole. When i got my 1st hole i was only like a couple months old so i dont remember the pain. but when i got my 2nd hole pierced it didnt hurt at all. Well im pretty scared of the pain to get my bellybutton pierced i know how they do it and everything im just scared of the pain. i would go ahead get your cartlidge peirced after all two yrs isnt that long if your anything like me it will seem like forever but hey atleast by then ull have to things peirced look at the bright side

omg i wanteed to get my belly pireced for like ever i cant get my mom to say yes but my dad will go for it. i feel like i have to have it my mom also tells her side of the family and then they yell at me!i cant stand it! i wish i new a way to get her to say yes i tried to do it myself buts its painful and i need a pro

hi...my mom is ok with me getting my belly button pierced...about 3 days ago she wasn't but i wrote her a long note telling her what i wanted to do and asked her if we could go look at some piercing places to pick one that is clean and will do a good job...shes ok with it now but my dad wont let me. i dont want to say anything to him, im want to leave it between my mom and my dad...but does anyone have any advice for us?

hey Im 12 years old.. I always wanted my belly button pierced.. a lot of my friends have it done.. but my parents keep on saying it doesnt look right on a 12 year old.. but I think its ok.. I told them I would take care of it and that I would pay for it and everything, but they still wont cave in.. does anyone have any idea on how to get them to let me get it done?

i really want my belly button pierced but the thing is, my mum had hers pierced but it got infected so she had to take it out. So she says she dosnt want me to get mine done incase mine does that too. My mums ears go infected if she wears earrings that arent gold or silver but mine don't, so if my ears are ok then i figured my belly button would be fine .my dad is no problem coz he offered to take me to get it done and pay for it, but my mum just wont here of it. does anyone have any idea of how i can try to convince my mum?

I'm 13 turning 14 September 16th and i'vebeen bugging my mom non stop to let me get my bellybutton pierced for about 6 months now and mentioned it here and there for the last 2 years. she agrees they're really cute but thinks i'mstill too young. even though i am only 13 i look like i'mabout 18 or 19 this is one of her reasons a belly button barbell will make me look even old she says i can get it when i go to high school, i'mgoing to 8th grade this year in september...i really wanted it b4 school starts...PLEASE give me some tips to talk her into it!!!!!!!

My mom nothing like you guys mom she had no problem with me getting it done. She took me she says she would of done it if she were younger so i researched decided i want to do got it done w/ my bestfriend and i've had it since the end of january. My mom pretty much says if i can stand the pain take care of it make sure its not infected and its cute and not crazy looking, i have no problem getting it done.
