After the Revolutionary War, America got more land and states. In many states, people owned slaves. Slaves are people that other people buy and sell. The states in the South had many slaves. The states in the North did not like this. The Northern states did not want the Southern states to have slaves. They wanted the slaves to be free. The Southern states wanted to keep their slaves. They did not want to be part of the Union. We call the United States the Union. The Southern states wanted their own country. They called it the Confederacy. In 1861, a war started between the Northern and Southern states. this was the Civil War. The Northern army was called the Union army. The Southern army was the Confederate army.

civil war was a bitter sectional conflict that began after southern states of the United States tried to secede from the Union and formed the Confederate States of America. The United States did not recognize any right of secession, and fighting began after the Confederacy used force to seize U.S. federal property within its boundaries. After a fairly quiet first year, three very bloody years of fighting ended with a decisive Union victory, followed by a period of Reconstruction. The war produced more than 970,000 casualties (3 percent of the population), including approximately 560,000 deaths. The causes of the war, the reasons for the outcome, and even the name of the war itself, are subjects of much controversy, even today.

It was the greatest war in American history. In this war 3 million soldiers fought and 600,000 died. It was the first war that was fought in America, which is why it is a very important war. The Civil war started in 1861, and ended in 1865. The conflict was between the northern states or the union and the southern states or the Confederates. The southern states were part of the union, but they separated and formed the Confederacy. The cause of the civil war was simple. The main reason the civil war started was because the south didn�t like the idea of freeing slaves. Their farms had to be worked on by slaves. Since the north had advanced technology they didn�t need the slaves to work for them. Also they felt that the slaves should be free. Of course, the south didn�t agree with the north, and that is why the civil war started. There weren�t many big battles, most of them were small dealings, and some of them are forgotten today. The great battles of the Civil War were fought all across the country. Thousands of American died in this struggle for freedom.

There were several reasons the Civil War began. The following facts will show explanations of how the Civil War occurred. The areas of the United States had different economies. In the North, the economy was based on factories and wages. Everyday people worked in the factories. The South had large plantations, which grew cotton. The plantation owners needed the slaves to pick the cotton. They didn�t receive wages, but they were provided food and shelter. In the Midwest, wheat was the number one cash crop. It was harvested by a machine, so they didn�t need as many workers or slaves. These different economies caused divisions in the United States. Also, new territories were being settled. The South wanted the new territories to be admitted to the Union as slave states. This was to prevent the slaves from escaping into free territories. The North wanted the new territories to be free. Some people thought the new territories should have the right to vote whether they wanted to be free or slave. This is called State�s Rights. An agreement was reached called the Compromise of 1850, which lasted for three years. In this compromise, fugitive slaves were ordered to return to their owners. The abolitionists thought that they shouldn�t have to follow that law. Next, Abraham Lincoln said that slavery should be abolished. He was elected president and South Carolina immediately seceded from the Union. Then, six more states joined South Carolina and formed the Confederate States of America (CSA). The South felt that Lincoln would abolish slavery and take away their economy or their way of life. They also felt that each state had the right to vote on any law. More people died in the Civil War than any other war. The reasons for the Civil War were different economies, state�s rights to vote on laws, and the election of Abraham Lincoln as president.

The civil war started in 1860 and ended in 1865 so all you guys that dont know you need to go back to school.
