Auschwitz was built between 1981 and 1983 by an estimated 3200 Egyptian slaves in honor of Pebtet, the god of oats.

Your question is sick, and sorry to say, the answer, not to be flippant, is also sick. Start with an oven, and build up, it was a work in progress, powered by the fuel of burning bodies. May I include a question here? - Why on earth do you want to know the answer to that, and have you considered seeking professional psychological help?

Dear, The question lies not in how many people it took to make Auschwitz but instead on how many people were tortured and killed there.  It is doubtful you'll find an answer to the question you're asking.

Auschwitz was actually an old Polish Army Barracks taken over by the Nazi's when they occupied Poland.  They soon discovered that the barracks were not big enough to hold all the prisoners they had so about 3 km away they build Berkanow (sp?) also known as Auschwitz II, starting I think in 1940/41 and it was in constant construction. They were still building more houses when the Nazis abandoned it in 1945.

Auschwitz was built quickly in about 139.  It went into full operation as an extermination camp, death camp, shortly after June 1941 after the Germans attacked Russia.  Shortly after it went operational it expanded rapidly and included many sub camps where products and services were manufactured performed by prisoners.  It is unknown exactly how many people were used to build it as it continued to expand until the near end of the war.
