How minutes was the orignal versiion of american pie by don mclean?

It's pretty long, I have a version that is 8 and 1/2 minutes long.

My version is exactly 8 minutes 32 seconds long. The version available on iTunes is 8:36. So, about 8 and 1/2 minutes, as stated above.
