Hi..well the $2 1953 and this applies to all the 1953 series of $2 notes 1953A,B,and C.Unless it is a star note with the star in the beginning of the serial number the note is very common and in circulated grades a currency dealer will pay $3.75-$4.50 depending on grade. On the silver certificate I need more info.Need denomination and series year.
On the subject on the motto "In God We Trust" not being on your notes. This motto  was not put on the $2 US notes until the 1963 series and the silver certificates the motto was put on the 1957 series as well on the part of the run of 1935G series silver certificates that were actually printed when the 1957 series was in circulation.

I happen to have a 1953 $2 that I believe is a silver certificate that has a star in the serial number.  What can you tell me about it?
