The first PC virus was created. Known as the Brain virus, it was written in Pakistan. The Brain virus was a boot-sector virus, which means it only infected the boot records of 360K floppy disks, but not hard drives. It would occupy unused space on the disk so that it could not be used. It was also the first "stealth" virus, meaning it tried to hide itself from detection. If a computer user tried to view the infected space on the disk, Brain would display the original, uninfected boot sector.

is this the place for real tards to hang out?
you cant just learn how to 'hack' or create viruses.
Real 'hackers' have extensive computer knowledge and actually know how a computer works and programming languages like C++

The first person to create a computer virus was Fred Cohen, while studying to get his PhD from the University of Southern California in 1983.  It was an experiment on computer safety.  He wrote a paper about is called EXPERIMENTS WITH COMPUTER VIRUSES.

The US Department of Defense created the first computer virus shortly after the end of WWII. It was called the War Department then. DOD actually had someone who was smarter than Bill Gates, though Gates wasn't born yet.  She was the wife of one of the scientists who worked to reduce the size of  early computers.  Her husband was unaware of her interest in germs  because he had a morbid fear of being contaminated by radiation.  She had a Ph.D also, like Hubbie, but was always relegated to lesser tasks like killing sink germs.  Believe it or not, she accidentally infected a mainframe at the War Department while writing an anti-germ program for one of the major soap companies.  No one took much notice of her creation, since few people had computers.  Almost fifty years later, the computer virus has unfortunately come of age.  Their names have been classified.

A program called "Elk Cloner" is credited with being the first computer virus to appear "in the wild" -- that is, outside the single computer or lab where it was created. Written in 1982 by Rich Skrenta, it attached itself to the Apple DOS 3.3 operating system and spread by floppy disk.

the first one to be sent into another computer was called "elk cloner". if your computer was infected, every 50ith time you would boot up you computer it would display the following poem:
" Elk Cloner:  The program with a personality

  It will get on all your disks
    It will infiltrate your chips
      Yes it's Cloner!

  It will stick to you like glue
    It will modify RAM too
      Send in the Cloner!"
