Three nights ago, the police came into my house, but because the dogs were barking so loud, they suggested that we go outside and talk.  They then informed my husband and I that they had arrested a person who said that they had bought pot from my son..  they asked us to sign a paper giving them consent to search his room.  neither myself or my husband signed.  my other son then came upstairs, and my husband went in to talk to him.  my son started going down stairs and the police went thru the front door and followed him down.  they started going thru drawers and found a pipe and some empty baggies.  they ordered them to open the safe. when they did as they were told, they found money and a scale.  they took everything that was there and took my son and one of his friends.  20 minutes later they came back and said that they were being ordered to set up another person and they wouldn't be charged. they were allowed to come home and no charges were filed at that time. first, i want to know if this was an illegal search on the part of the police?  we refused to let them get involved with setting anyone up. the boys are both scared of the police.  they have now came to my house when i was gone and told my neighbor that one of or vans had been in an accident.  when i called the police station, the dispatcher said that there was no accident.  she radioed the officer and he said he had made a mistake.  the same officer has started calling the other boys house saying that he was supposed to be at the station at 2pm.  is this harassment? i'm sorry, but they even threatened to beat the one boy up.  i think they have been watching to much "NYPD BLUE".  please let me know what you think.  thanks.
