I want to move from britain to usa, I have a pension and would buy property do I need a visa if i do not intend to work also I have a 4 year old would he be able to attend state school and what is the position on pets.

I am not sure about the visa but I know your child would be able to attend public school.  We do not call it state school in US, state schools are for crazy people.  They are called public schools.  Pets are fine as long as you have proof they have had their shots.
