My one year old American cocker spaniel has a severe and chronic itchy ear and paw problem. He's constantly licks and nibbles on his paws, and continuously scratches his ears till he whimpers. We've become aware of an odor from his ears which indicate infection? He's been treated for ear infections, however the meds don't seem to help, only make him fuss. We've tried switching his diet and his shampoos however it doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions on how to rid the itching and odor?

i have an 8 yr. old american cocker with the same problems also.  hes had cronic ear infections since he was two.  he bites at feet and scratches ears but with many vet visits the problem has gotten better.  we clean his ears two to three times a week with vetus animal health euclens otic cleanser now which really seems to help.  dont let the problem go see the vet.  it took many visits but we seem to have the problem under control now.

My dog has the same problem, and although we are still at constant battle with the feet, antibiotic treatment did clear up the ears.

After years of ear infections, trips to the vet lots of medicines, two year ago a student vet said my cocker had an intolerance to protein, which is very high in most dog foods ( 22 to 50 %). Put him on Purina Hyporallengic food,(less than 8%) his ears have been fine since, even his allergies seem to be better, but when he starts to chew his paws or his eyes become read I put him on childrens benadryl for a few days and works everytime.

I have a 3 year old cocker spaniel. He is the sweetest and best dog but he is having the paw issues..he licks and licks and licks his paws. The vet said he has allergies inbetween the toes. He takes some pills and we have a spray we put on his feet. However it gets better then he licks until it is raw and red. What I have to do it spray his paws and put babysocks on his paws for couple hours so he wont lick so medicine can get in and do its thing. After we bathe him we clean his ears we havent had much problem with his ears. But we do stick cotton balls in when he bathes so no water gets in. Ok well thats my info on my doggy!

My vet told me my cocker's itchy, stinky ear problems were a result of a food allergy.  He was right.  I stopped feeding my cocker wheat and chicken and the problem went away.

My cocker is having itchy ear problems and we would like to know if we could use the same remedy we used on the cats, we used baby oil in the ears and it rid the cats of mites.  I was just wondering if this would be an acceptable alternative before i call my vet.
my e-mail is Dwayne.felton@gmail.com, let me know if you have any ideas on how to help
