Is there any info about the possiblity for collecting disability? I have not been able to work in my profession since 1999 or can I hold any other job since 2000.  My husband and I spent all of our life savings and credit cards on medical help for my Lyme disease.  Oct 2003 my mother died and cut me out of her Will because my sickness made me "no good to her."  My sister and cousins took most all of my household,  clothing and personal posessions because they were in my mother's house.  My sister did not tell me that my mother was so ill and dying and had denied me access to remove my things for two years before my mother's death.

I can definitely sympathize with you. I awoke on Sept 9th 2001 with what i thought was the flu. Finally went to the doctor 4 days later. It was almost 3 months later when they finally discovered I had Lymes, which at the time I knew nothing about. Since that time, I can tell you I went thru pure heck, and ended up having to retire from my job of 22 years with Georgia Pacific, because their wonderful insurance carrier Metlife refused all of my claims. i could write here for hours on the things related to Lymes I have went through, and continue to go through health wise. I can tell you i was a young 41 year old very good Manager who loved working with people for all those years. I can also tell you I am not the same as what I used to be both physically and mentally.
To answer your question, YES, you can get disability income from Social Security. Find a good lawyer who specializes in Social Security disability cases. Write your local or state representatives and congress persons for reference letters, and dont give up, you can get assistance. While the monetary assistance is a godsend, I would trade it all to be able to lead a normal life again. I have been declared totally and permanently disablede by my doctors due to physical and mental issues with all this. Anyone can feel free to contact me at sjsh99@yahoo.com if you like.
