NO chihuahuas do not have to be at least 2 years to breed! my older chihuahua had her puppy's when she was a year old and she had 3 healthy puppy's. But also the rumor that "a dog has to provide at least one litter to have a normal life" is just so stupid. Unless you no that you are going to find homes for all your puppy's i really hope you get your animal spayed or neutered. and that doesn't just go for chihuahuas. Think about it.. if you get your cat spayed or whatever because you no for sure your not going to breed her you will no that you could of just saved the lives of thousands of cats in the near future or dogs in this matter. So please all animals that don't find homes are put to sleep EVERYDAY..So prevent this now and take them to your vet to get them spayed or neutered!

Chihuahua's are are very small and thus have a harder time whelping. You should wait until they are at least two years old and it is vital that you are with your dog in whelping and know what to expect so that if something goes wrong you can call the vet. Question: How do you tell if your dog is pregnant and of she is how Long will she be? IF you don't know the answers to these questions then DON'T BREED YOUR DOG! You have to know alot of things like feeding, exercise, whelping complications, etc to breed and DON'T breed till you know as much as you can.

i agree with you about knowing everthing there is to know about whelping before you do it.but first timers is always extremly stressful because you know what you have to do but in a rush decision its very scary and its like you forgott all the things you were supposed to remember

i have a mini chiwawa and she is a little over 1 year and she is in heat for the second time and i have a 6 year old weiner(or what ever it's called dashound) and he wont stop tryin to hump her and she dosn'twant to and he is begger than her and has bit her before what do i do? i don't want then to breed i think she is to small and younge she is only 1 pound!!!

Chihuahua's are very petite dogs and inorder to bread them you have to make sure that you have all there vaccines and make sure that a vet is on the phone or nearby. just to make sure that the female has no probles. the chuiwawa is should be around 1 year and older usualy on there second heat and beyond.
