Is there a way for me to set a condition to the "subtotal" function so that it not only adds what is filtered  but as well as what keyword i have asked it to search for?

you can set up spreadsheat to sort by range of cells with either a numeric code or word and subtotal within those chosen or have all sorted by catagory you set up( # or word) and then total subtotals from their. Use to do expenses breakdowns that way,
off top of head formula looked somewhat like; =sumif(a1:b54,720,b1:b54)   this will sort your codes in cells a1 through a54 and sum amounts in cells b1 through b54
