Hi, I looked up on a website that if you only get one, it will die of loneliness. I know that it is better with 2, but will only one cause it to die. If so, how long until it will die. My sister and I are allergic to cats and so we are only getting one at first to see if we are allergic. If we are not, we are going to get another one, but I don't want the first to die before than. Thanks

While it is true that if they are lonely for a prolonged period of time, they suffer from a sort of depression and die.....but if you bond with one and give it copious amounts of attention, then it will be fine. It is recommended that you have two, but if you can give it the time and attention it needs and deserves, you don't necessarily HAVE to have two.

If a sugar glider is going to be left alone for prolonged periods of time than it is a better idea to get a second one. However, if you are going to be able to spend a lot of time with it it should be just fine with one. They are more likely to go into depression if they are separated and put by themselves at an older age than as babies. As for your allergies, I have lots of them to, including to cats. Sugar gliders make great pets because they are hypo-allergenic and also don' t ever need to be vaccinated. All they need is TLC and lots of attention, a proper diet, added vitamins, water, and your good to go.

i am 12 years old... you may think thats to young to have a sugar glider but i did my research. i have my little sugar glider with me right now. I only have one and he does just fine, but thats because i keep him with me all the time. if you cant be with them all the time get two for your gliders sake. they are great pets that dont shed. and are a 10 on the cuddle factor scale
