When using ability's.......If it has a ":" symbol in it, with out a "(~>)"tap symbol, can you pay it as many times as you want?

e.g.

When your creature resolves, it has a 2/2 on it.

The ability says "pay (1)(of a color mana)), ":" creature get's+1/+1".

so now the creature is a 3/3.........cool.
but can i pay another one to make it a 4/4 and so on, since i don't have to tap to use the ability?

Activated abilities of permanents are written like this...

Cost : Effect

Everything to the left of the colon must be payed when you announce the ability and place it on the stack. Everything to the right of the colon happens when the ability resolves.

The tap symbol appears as part of the cost of many abilities, but not all. If there is no tap symbol, then the ability can be used repeatedly, as many times as you can pay whatever the cost to the left of the colon is.

In addition, creatures can use abilities such as this immediately when they come into play, because summoning sickness only prevents them from attacking or using abilities that have the tap symbol in them.
