i have my ears stretched to a 00 and i took them out so i wouldn't lose them when i went to a surfing and in the 8 hours i was at the beach they closed so much that i could only get an 8 in them so yes, they do eventually close. ( i had my ears stretched for about 3 months before then.)

after 0 gauge its irreversable, anything be4 that reduce the gauge by 2 every week or so and itll go back to 18 gauge

yah, that whole myth about not being able to un-stretch beyond 0 gauge is wrong.

well, not wrong but it varies from person to person.  anywhere from 0g to 1/2 inch is a safe range.
u can try to see how fast your lobes will shrink by taking your plugs out over night and see how much they close.
if they close a lot....you have a better chance of healing after large gauges.  vice versa.

i have my ears at 19/32's which is right abouve half inch and right below 5/8's and when i went to jail they closed up to a zero and i was only there for two days. so considering your body type and healing methods theyll close unless you go to disgustingly huge gauges. also if you put hemroid cream on them they'll close alot faster. haha i know it sounds gross but it workkkkks.

you are all wrong...my ears are at 1 1/4 right now.. ive taken them out when they were this same size  and let them close..all sizes  will close. it just takes time, and you have to do it right..no, if you dont know what you are doing, they wont close. but all you have to do is let them shrink up, when they are done shrinking, stretch one size from what they are. continue to do this and they will eventually close ... so all you people who are at baby sizes dont know what your talking about..

there is a process to closed almost all guaged ears... my ears were at 5/8.. to get them to close up shove a bigger gauge than what you have in it already soo its gets scabby. the scab will heal over and your ear will get tighter every time it heals up. my hole has now cloes up to about a 8

anything is reversable over time,
any hole in you body will heal.
and anything your body can't heal on its
own can be stitched (don't stretch your ears that much...)

i have 00g plugs in now i had 1/2 inch plugs for about a week the largest i have put in is 5/8 inch but my friend stretched her ears to 9/16 and is a piercing and tattoo artist anyways my point is she claims anywhere after 2 g will not close to normal true it will close some but not much i took out my 00's for 2 weeks and they still fit a 1/2 inch plug my friend tells me that your ears only heal some. for example 00g will only close to 2-4g 1/2 will only close to 0-2g and so on so be sure you want huge holes in your ears for life before you do it

yes, lobes shrink. i had mine at 2g for about 2 months with some double flare flesh tunnels in, and i took it out at school to clean the earring with an alcohol pad [bad idea, i know, but they're surgical stainless steel so alcohol doesn't hurt it]. After about 5 minutes out of my ear, the hole had shrunk up just enough that i risked tearing the exit hole if i tried to force it back through. i left that earring out for another 9 hours [i had clubs after school so didn't get home until 7 at night] then put what would fit in it, which was about a 6. it was an easy stretch back to 2, but definitely shrunk.

I have my ears stretched twice in each lobe, one at 14mm and one at 10 mm, i can leave them out for a week and the tunnels will go back in with a simple hot compress, i dont think they are ever going to heal pefectly i recon 10mm is probaly the furthest you can go before theres no going back, my friend took out his 12mm tunnel a few months ago and has left it to heal moisturised etc.. and he can still get a 6 through without any effort =/

There is no deffinete size. Like "Down" It varies. My ears where 1 inch and I had to take them out for somethings with work. Only took a bout a month and they were back to around 2g.I ended up restretching them, but this Myth of"irreversable is untrue.

Everyone is different. The hole will shrink at any size, however it may not close up completly. Always remeber, the human body repairs itself from damage to the skin, and therfore you shudnt be too worried.

My friend had 7/16 and his aren't closed. they are probably 00 after having them out for a few months, they are large slits in his ears. A guy at the body jewelry stand said you can let them close up and pull 200 grit sandpaper through the hole and it will tear the  skin off and they will heal completely.  His were fully closed and he had his at 00.

to everyone else who wrote before me your ALL WRONG my earlobes are 3/4" right now they were 1 inch but I,m down sizing them ,take it from somebody who actually is at a big size ANY SIZE 1 INCH AND BELOW YOU CAN HEAL BACK BY SIMPLY PUTTING IN SMALLER PLUGS GRADUALLY.

Ive had my ears stretched for 5 years, I've had them up to and over an inch a couple of times. I have taken them out before for random reason and let them heal over, they have never gone back to a 16 gage or anything close for that matter. After going to an inch the smallest i have ever gotten them back to is a Zero gage.

-cheers

It completely depends on the person, the length of time at a larger gauge and the person's ears.  I have had my ears at 00ga for 5 years.   I decided to try and shrink them and took out my plugs.  I had them out with nothing in them for 6 months and the left one closed to a 4ga or so, but the right one stayed at a 2ga and would not close.  I stretched them back to 00ga.  My ears will never be normal size again and that's ok,  but it happens to some people

The best thing to do is talk to your peircer. Only one person on here really knows what they are talking about. It varies between the person. Just go to your peircer and ask him what he thinks and his opinion is the best one to follow, after all he will know more then the people on the internet.

Okay, First things first. ALL PEIRCINGS WILL CLOSE!! dont say that it wont close past a 0g cuz thats false. All you have to do is trick your ears and they will close.

DO THIS BY

Say your at a 0g now. Taper your ears to a 00g and put a 2g earring in. Do this all the way down to an 18g and it will close. i promise. it will work at anything to a 3/4"

I stretched my ears to 10mm (1cm) and had to take the taper out for work, at the end of a 5 hour shift, I could BARELY fit my 3mm back into it. A few days ago I stretched the ear back up to 10mm and once my next taper comes in will be going to 14mm. I've had friends go bigger and it still heal.

As long as the ear is not dermal punched it will heal and if the hole is not left for too long of a time.

My friend Cat had her ears stretched to 18mm for five months and took them out. After three weeks with gaping holes that slowly shrunk, she put her 4mm in and slowly began to actually shrink it so in the end she had a simple plain hoop in each ear. Her ears however do have some odd keloid scarring.

I eventually plan on going to 22mm and if the hole never closed itself, the ear can be stitched back together for when I feel the need for it to be normal.

im currently in the process of letting my ears close up, i have been as big as 7/16. 11 days ago i was at a 00 now i can barely fit an 8 through it. Someone had told me to do salt water washes everynight, so ive been doing that, im not sure if thats helping but each day the are decreasing in size. it really does vary person by person, and how well the ears were gauged to begin with, tearing and scar tissue will obviously alter the healing process.
