I have done extensive research and there is no such thing as a teacup they just don't grow as quickly or as large. A breeder can tell you it is a teacup but in a year the dog is big. Good luck in your search.

There is no such thing as a teacup.  There are tiny chi's.  In any other breed they are called the runt of the litter.  If you get two of them together and breed them you are likely to get small pups but you are more likely to kill the female or have severe health problems.

You are correct...there is no such thing as a teacup Chihuahua. A Chi is a Chi. Just like people and other types of dogs, they come in different shapes and sizes, often in the same litter. A breeder who tells you they breed "teacup" dogs is lying to you to take your money.

there is no such thing as a teacup chi the reason they are called that its because the pups come from smaller parents  if your chihuahua is from a good blood line it shouldn't exceed 4-5lb but some people breed them for the fun of it or just to make some extra money and they don't know who to breed with so if the female is a small female and  the male is over 5 lb well then you don't have pups that are gonna be under 5lb don't get tricked from people that tell you that there is such thing its a lie

No actually Bethzaida is correct there is NO such thing as a teacup chihuahua. There are two varieties of chi long coat and smooth. Teacup is a marketing term used by breeders to help sell their 'product'. yes the puppy may stay tiny but there are NO guarantees.

If anyone says that there is no such thing as a teacup chihuahua, they must have some kind of thing against dogs. I happen to be a huge fan of the teacup chihuahua but can't seem to find any in the lower mainland.
It's actually fairly depressing and I am beginning to give up hope in ever finding one.
So thats my story, and I am sorry I don't know where to buy a teacup chihuahua in Vancouver. I am actually on this website looking for one.
But I have a website that seems alright but I dont know if it's in Vancouver. It's called www.wizardofclaws.com.
Give it a try. It has loads of pics of all kinds of little dogs and little clothes and everything.
It's cutie.

There is no such thing as a TEACUP chihuahua and if a breeder tells you there is, RUN...as fast as you can!!  I've been told this by many breeders from all over the country.

I am a chihuahua owner. He is 5lbs. As per CK regulations a pure bred chihuahua does not go over 5lbs. However to make them smaller you do what is called in-breed. Meaning brother and sister dogs have offspring making a "teacup" dog. These dogs usually have severe health problems. In my point of view anyone supporting this method if breeding is cruel.

there are teacups they stay the size of a puppy. look on the internet type in the words teacup chihuahua and look u may have to drive elsewhere to get one. teacup dogs are usually 2 lbs. fully grown but often have short life expectancy.
