I have a 3 year old neutered Cavalier King Charles and he is healthy and a delight.  However, he has begun to lick the air excessively and it does not appear to be related to thirst.  I admit that this is beginning to drive me crazy.  Can anyone help?

I would bring him to the vet there could be something going on or at least call and see what they have to say.

I read that Cavaliers are prone to epilepsy.  Licking the air was one of the characteristics it explained.  Mention this to your vet.

We have a dog that does that.  He loves to lick and when he doesn't have somebody or something to lick, he takes to licking the air.  Maybe this is your dogs problem.

I have a Cavalier, he does the same thing.  He would like my hands all day if I'd let him.  It's unnerving.

Did your vet explain it for you?  Heck that was over two years ago.  Can anyone explain it, other than it being an annoying habit?
