The song, "Angie", was based off of Angela Bowie (nee Mary Angela Barnett), whom David Bowie married in 1970.  It was speculated at the time (and later found to be true)that Angie and Mick Jagger were having an affair, and this was the cause of David's divorce from Angie in 1980.  Hints to the nature of the song and Mick's desire to come out with their affair are given in lines like,
"Angie, Angie, when will those clouds all disappear?
Angie, Angie, where will it lead us from here?"

"Angie" was produced by 'the Glimmer Twins',
which most people assume to be Mick and Keith under another name.

The "Angie" referred to was Angie Bowie, ex wife of David.

wasn't the song dealing with the situation whereby bowie and jagger were 'busted' together in bed when 'angie' walked in?

no it wasn't about Angela Bowie, and Mick didn't write it
it was written by Keith about his failing relationship with Anita Pallenburg

it has nothing to do with Angie Bowie; in fact it's about Richards' then-partner Anita Pallenberg, and was written about the time of the birth of their daughter Dandelion. (Some years later, Dandelion renamed herself Angela after the song.)

It has never actually been verified who "Angie" is really about.  Some people suggest that it was Angie Bowie while others believe it was about David Bowie himself and the situation mentioned by Q but Jagger insists that it isn't about anybody and that the name just fit the song.

Actually, as a pal of Angie, I can state that she is the source of the song, although Mick is now denying this after Angie outed both Mick and David in bed together in the Great Era of Bisexuality, i.e. late 60's, 70's to early 80's.  (See her excellent Rock tome, Backstage Passes)
and read her primer on Bisexuality for more insight.

No one is sure what the song "Angie" is about.  People say its about Angie bowie herself.  Some say its about Kieth Richard's Daughter Angie.  Some say it has to do with Anita Pallenberg, Kieth's wife at the time.  Who knows.....If someone finds out let me know.  lol.  bigboybigboy808@hotmail.com

People take insatiable enjoyment out of repeating intriguing anecdotal "facts" whose authenticity rest solely on the idea that if you heard someone say it, then it must be true. In the case that the so-called fact is wrong, the teller's telling is easily excused by placing the blame on the originator of the rumor, and being wrong is a small price to pay for looking smart especially when most people won't challenge you anyway.

As it turns out, even people on TV say things that aren't exactly true.  Skepticism is an intellectual virtue. Let's exercise it.

It's not about Angie Bowie, but Keith Richard then-GF, Anita Pallenberg.  The Bowie thing is a myth.

Angie was not based on Angie Bowie, it was written by Keith Richards about a woman he was with, however her real name was not Angie, it was closer to Annita.- look further into this online elsewhere

The legendary rock ballad "Angie" (performed by The Rolling Stones) was written by Keith Richards about Anita Pallenberg and not "Angie" Bowie, as commonly mistaken.

I know Angie...some speculate that it was NOT about her, and she is rather demur about the whole thing...but I've heard from her pals, like Leee Black Childers and Jayne County, that it's all true, true, true...and you can BET what you saw in print is half or less of the story!!
