I have a a little girl 2 1/2 yrs old and a little boy 1 1/2 yrs old. I would like to breed them, but the male seems to have trouble when it comes to mounting. He has showed that he knows how on other females, but with mine he tries her side. My female is ready for him and he seems interested but has trouble.
Can anyone help me with this.
Thanks.

Not what you want to hear, but please reconsider breeding your chihuahuas.  2 1/2 pounds is very small, too small to breed according to the many professional breeders I have contact with.  Are you willing to risk losing not only the litter but the mother dog too?

Have you had both dogs checked for possible genetic defects which could be passed on to
the puppies?  Are you willing to spend the money for professional veterinary care throughout the pregnancy, and possibly during the delivery?

If the answers to the above questions aren't yes, then you shouldn't breed them.  The money you can make from selling the pups is much less than you will spend in vet bills, shots, etc. before the puppies are old enough to be sold.

If you simply want to add more chihuahuas to your life, please adopt a puppy that's already here, there are so many who need good homes.

chimama, you seem to know a lot about chihuahuas. I just got my new chihuahua puppy. She was froim a very good and educated breeder. She is 5 weeks old and she wont eat her food. I have tried watering it down a bit but she wont eat it.
I called the breeder and he told me that i should try  butting some small pieces of meat in it but she still wont eat i dont know what to do. Any advice would be helpful
