I'm from the UK and I would like to work in the US for a period of time but I am having no luck at all finding useful information regarding how to go about finding sponsorship.  I would be grateful for any help!!

Try Disney's recruitment in London. I believe they are looking for cast members (staff). If they take you on they will organize a one year work visa for you. The pay is crap, but it's a fun place to work. And who knows who you might meet out there to take your life's journey in a totally different direction.
