My 5-1/2 month old grandson is the most happy baby I've ever...

My 5-1/2 month old grandson is the most happy baby I've ever seen, but lately, about two hours after having nursed, he screams violently and only his mother can help him - she cuddles and loves him until he finally falls asleep. When he wakes up a short time later he's back to his smily, laughing self.  In about 6 months he has to have surgery on his penis which is malformed. Could there be any connection?
