My 2 year old dachshund is suffering severely from muscle spasms in the neck, along with extreme pain during these occurrences.  She has received a cortisone injection, and one week of prednisone with 3 day supply left.  She is having 2-3 spasms per day, and screams in extreme pain each time.  This usually happens when she touches something or someone with her head, even very slightly.  She just starts screaming.  Xrays did not show any disc problems although the vet said xrays are not the best diagnostic tool.  I want to get this dog out of pain.  Please help.

I know your post is quite old, but I couldn't help but answer.  My dachshund had the same problem.  It was a ruptured cervical disk.  She needed surgery to repair the disk.  If you haven't gotten help already, please visit a neurologist as well as www.dodgerslist.com and join the yahoo group.  Good luck and I hope that your baby is feeling better.
