I have to have surgery and must remove my belly ring.  I have had it for 7 years.  A friend said her opening closed within 3 hours and she had to have it repierced.  Is this possible?  Also do you  know of any sort of "surgery friendly" substitute that could be inserted during surgery?

if uve had it for 7 years, it shouldnt close up... the hole should be completely healed so that it wont close when u take it out for long periods of time

I have my belly button pierced (like everyone that write here but any ways....)

i got mine done on the 1 of April and now it is the 11 of April and mine is still hurting, every time i lay on it and bend down and things like that.  what do i do?

Also the lady that took me to get it done wasn't very forward with me on how to keep good care of it.

is it okay to use the antibacterial soap that u use on dishes and my friend said she changed her ring within 2 weeks that she had it done is that a good idea?  also how do i take off a barbell?

please answer my questions if u are reading this to: shagonbabybratz7@wmconnect.com  and in the subject heading please type: ANSWERING YOUR QUESTION ABOUT YOUR BELLY PIERCE

no matter how long you have had the piercing it can close up.

Ask your doctor if it would be alright to use something like PTFE or Tygon which are types of plastic which the body does not react to.
They're flexible and adapt to your body.

I have had my belly ring for just about as long as you and last year found that i was pregnant. You have nothing to worry about, by now your belly has completely healed. Your friend must have just had hers pierced and thats why hers closed so fast.

This is not correct. I just recently had surgery and the reason you have to take jewlery out is because can burn you because of the machines, when you go to the hospital they will ask you to take out jewlery it is at this time you should tell them about your belly ring and they will give you special tape to cover it.

I am also having surgery and must remove my belly piercing for the surgery and recovery time. I have done some research on this topic and what I have found shows that even a well healed piercing can close. But there are "Surgery friendly" substitutes available according to this article.

I have been taking my belly ring out for a day or two at a time and it hasn't closed yet, but I think it varies person to person. I have had my piercing for 2 years.
