There is no know person, a person having a seizure was thought to be poesied or have demons or the devil in them.  For hundreds of years people did not admit to having seizures out of fear of what the people would do to them.

for many years the origin of epilepsy was unknown. many felt that those who had seizures were possessed. in fact epilepsy was never "discovered" it was just known of. I figure whoever can be called the discoverer of seizures and epilepsy is the person who realized it was the results of a disease in the first place.

Epilepsy and seizures have been around for hundreds of years, but no exact date can be pinpointed.  Although, there are many historical things that show a relation to Epilepsy such as in the Ayurvedic literature of Charaka Samhita, which has been dated to 400B.C. and is the oldest existing description of the Ayurvedic medical system, epilepsy is described as "aspasmara" which means loss of consciousness. The Charaka Samhita contains abundant references to all aspects of epilepsy including symptomatology, etiology, diagnosis and treatment.

Epilepsy has been with man since before recorded history.  It was traditionally associated with the supernatural (gods and demons).  Hippocrates was the first (in western civilization to write on epilepsy as a sickness (and not as a sign of possession or blessing) in his work, "On the Sacred Disease."

Epilepsy has been around for thousands of generations. Some people belived that those who had seizures were possessed by evil spirits of the underworld. While some belived that people who had seizures were being saved by god and returned to earth to do his biding.
