Bobbi you are ignorant !!! A pulling harness is not for fighting. Pulling harnesses are special harness for pits and lots of other breeds that allow them to compete in weight pulls.  Weigth pulling is a sport were dogs(not just pits) are  able to be competitive and game with out having to prove it in the pit.  Its a great sport to keep pits the way they should be Athletes not just show dogs and couch potatoes.

But back to the original question... there's a company in Norman, Oklahoma that makes a really high quality padded leather pull harness specifically for your dog. You measure the dog, they make the harness.
http://www.ldsleather.com

Much love to bobbi - nobody likes dog fighting, but pulling is a whole other matter. Pits are a lot like draft horses. They love to work, and if they don't have enough challenge and physical exercise, they can get stressed out. Pulling is a great alternative to dangerous and harmful things like fighting and bull baiting.

All of you guys and gals who answered to Bobby's questions are stupid. First of all, the man just wanted to find a weight pulling harness. What's fighting a dog got to do with that. The man wants to get his dog into pulling weights, that's all. And by the way, weight pulling is a sport, it ain't just pitbulls that are pulling weights, its other breeds as well. Now shut up, and next time read the question carefully, before you start getting on the offense. Ya'll need to apologize idiots.

Ever had your pit out for a walk, and he does something real impulsive like lunge towards a moving car, or eat something gross of the side of the road like a cigarette but? Do you scream at him like he is a total idiot or smack him? NO! I hope not. You've just discovered a bad behavior to look out for. Guess what people are the same way. They get a knee jerk reaction and lunge into a topic saying something really stupid. Should they be smacked and called names all day, will this help? Give Bobbie a break. Correct and inform people, this will help save the breeds reputation. Keep the insults for yelling at the TV or something.

WOW, Hope the Bobbi's of the world don't shoot me for looking at pulling harnesses for my sweet Lab, Holly.  I don't even let her bark at other dogs much less fight them.  I just need a harness and light cart for her so she can help me pull my groceries from the car to the door and a few bags of mulch around to the side flower beds.  Or perhaps Bobbi thinks I should just shoot myself for having a spinal implant and needing the help of an Assist Animal.

you can make you pit gain wieght by feeding it Diamond dog food. any feed store that sells food for horses or pigs will have it and at Petco. Many people think diamond have steroids in it and thats why dogs gain wieght fast and why walmart and other places wont carry it, but it doesn't`t. It has omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and thats why dogs gain wieght fast

Bobbi et al -- please take a look at http://www.iwpa.net/ and see if there are any events in your region.  This is a very interesting sport that allows many breeds to channel their energy into something positive.  I always say the best dog is a tired dog.  Well, they will definitely be tired after a day of pulling :-)

Also, there are some great photos of dogs competing on this site http://www.harnessesbycarol.com/htmlcopy/Sample%20Harness%20photos.htm

I am looking for a harness because i want to work my 2 year old Aussie bulldog into my workout routine so that i can multitask. I can work out, he can work out and we can both play at the same time.  otherwise it is pretty hard to tire out an Aussie Bulldog.  They are very fit and athletic dogs with a heavy build.

Bobbi is definitely a person uneducated about competitive weight pulling (including the theory that weight pulling has enough testosterony competitive pleasure that it may actually DECREASE dog fighting), and she should shut up about what she knows nothing about.

That said, having been doing some searching myself, I recommend checking out http://www.iwpa.net/ if you want to learn about weight pulling, and find places to get equipment.

Hi BOB, since no one is paying attention to your question and are fixated on bobbi'sstupidity and ignorance, to get a weight pull harness here are some sites:

1. For quality leather try:
http://www.ldsleather.com/harnesses.html

2. For something a bit softer, for comfortable for your dog try:
http://www.ukcpitbull.com/APBT/weight_pulling.htm

I'm pretty sure you can get a harness from the second link; however, the second link has TONS of information on starting your dog on weight pulling. Just make sure you take him/her to a vet before beginning. If he/she isn't in proper condition you can seriously injure your dog.

I currently have a female pit and she LOVES to pull! Especially when it comes to pits, dogs really enjoy pulling--it's not something you force them to do, they will let you know if they want to pull or not.

If you want to get your dog big you need to feed it up when it's a pup. Make sure not to exercise it too much before it's six months old. As this can stunt there growth. If you have a fully grown dog the best way I find is to run them with a bike. My Boy loves this. Be sure to use a Harnesses as it's less stress on the dogs neck. Also letting dogs play together is great way of getting them fit.

Bob,
Weight pulling is definetely a sport and I make pulling harnesses. My name is Brenda Shelby and I make "Mighty" harnesses. This is a great way to get your dog in good physical condition and is a positive way to work and take your APBT into the publics eye.
We need to do positive non-violent activities for this most awesome and noble breed of ours. Please do not do anything to harm our cause or soon there will be no Pit Bulls left to see. Extinction is FOREVER!

weight pulling is a diffrent sport from fighting. I think its good, makes dog strong and healtier. basically he needs to burn those calories. my dog is a mucsled little tank and is frendly with all breeds and he has still got his balls! fighting is a total diffrent category, far away from weight pulling. not even close! go feed ur dog some chips and make him fat an unhealthy! he wont even live 5 years happy, then you will go and get another dog. u lazy ur dog lazy.
