most EGR valves that i know of run off of the exhaust manifold.  you should see a metal pipe about a quarter inch in diameter running off of the manifold, or if it's not there, you will see a hole.  If your car is quiet, then don't worry, your EGR valve is there.

A 95 Neon will have the EGR located on the back side of the engine.  However you will have a hard time seeing it becuase of a wiring harness located right on top of it.  It will be a tight squeeze to find or work on it.  Exactly, it will be between the valve cover and the brake fluid resevoir.  It will have a plastic solenoid with an electrical connector located on the intake tube (which will have to be removed for access to the valve), and the valve is connected to it by a rubber tube.  Hope that helps.

Where is the EGR valve in a 1995 Mercury Villager? Would this have anything to do with the car's RMP excessively ramping up while trying to accelerate. Mechanic said not the Transmission.  Any possible answers would be appreciated.

standing in front of the car w/hood up look to the right side of the engine, slightly below the valve cover, there will be a round valve with a small vacuum hose attached to the EGR valve. to see it good remove the air filter and remove  the front part of the air tube duct secured w/clamp at front right of engine. "NOTE"--a restricted exhaust system will cause the  EGR valve to function improperly.

the egr valve is at the right side of your engine if you look at the throttle bod you will see the metal line running to the back side of the engine you will have to take off the tube off that runs from the air box to the throttle body to see it

On the 1995 SOHC 2.0L Neon engine, the EGR valve is mounted directly on the cylinder head next to camshaft sensor, toward the firewall.
