My dog Pepper is 10 yr/old spayed female.  Has always had good house manners.  Now, suddenly she is getting into garbage only when we are gone.  She also climbs up on furniture (dressers, kitchen cabinets, etc) looking for something to eat.  She recently found a dog food container with about 2 quarts of food in it on top of cabinet and ate the whole thing while we were away.  We also have a service dog in training.  Would Pepper be jealous?  She gets walks, lots of love, etc.  Does not demonstrate separation anxiety.

Help!  Chuck

She could be doing this to get attention. You might be right about her being jealous of the other dog. Although she gets lots of love, etc she might be feeling second now since you're devoting time with this other dog and she is not used to it so does anything possible to get attention. It's one possibility. You should get a book on animal behavior too. Hope this helps and good luck!!!  Tanisha
