Technically there is no such thing. People have, over time, put these names on the smaller dogs that are sometimes produced from two smaller dogs of this breed. There is no standard for this "public added discription", but in "public" eye, they are very tiny, generally under 4 pounds, but length may vary!

Yorkies generally weigh between 3 to 7 lbs I raise yorkies and have 5 of my own. My little boy only weighs 4lbs. My Sasha is 7lbs but her grandfather was only 1 1/2 lb. the smaller the dog usually the more the breeder asks most people who get yorkies want a small one. The problem with the small ones are the blood sugar they usually have a problem Sasha had four puppies last litter and her smallest was 10 oz. at 9 weeks old.unfort. she started having convulsions and her blood suger kept dropping she was at the vets having IV and unfortunatly did not make it.

I read the posted ansers...ha ha not many Yorkie people out there ansering...the measurement is taken from the shoulder to the base of the tail, and from the top of the shoulder to the floor.. just as you would measure a kid against the wall..Ideally this, measurement should be rather square..fe's can be a bit longer(to be able to carry pups)
Tea Cup is just a term somewhat over used and abused. TC 1 to 4.5  my ideal 2.5 male to 4lbs and 4 to 6 or so.fe.. over 7lbs is considered large...
It is very important to give a very good quality food always, and suppliments for and durring the pregnancy process...to get healthy pups, & mom...I will agree some of the smaller Yorkies may have problems...also if not in top health..Yorkies are a breed to be kept as cared for and pampered pets and all should be protected...my 2 cents

You are all dumb!  There is no way that you have a Yorkie that is 3.5 inches unless it is retarded and malformed.

I just got a "teacup" Yorkie for Christmas she was $1800 and her mother is 3lbs full grown and her father is 21/2lbs full grown. She is estimated to be around 21/2lbs full grown and we have NEVER had a problem with her blood sugar. She's 41/2 months old and she's a great dog, you just need to find a good breeder.Hope i helped ya :)
