Does piercing your belly button hurt?

hey Anchovieeee, ok what they do is (well what they SHOULD do) is, they let you pick out the ring etc. out, and then they have to sterilize it in an oven type thing, takes about 5, 10 or even 15 mins, then they take you into a room, and have you stand up so they can make the mark on you belly (where you want it), then they have you lay down, they clean your belly, then they put a clap on your bellybutton, and they SHOULD use a 14 gauge, hollow needle looking thing (DO NOT EVER GET PIERCED WITH A GUN) then they put it thro and the pain only supposed to last about 10 secs could be longer? anyways then the put like sometimes a ring or something until they are ready for the one you picked out, then they put it in and the your done. ok well g2g please everyone respond to my question?

Hi everyone. i have been reading all these letters of people asking if it hurts. well don't stress cause it don't hurt that much. but everyone is different. i am a body piercer from Aust. i have my belly pierced 4 times. all around it, and i'm not going by my feelings. but every belly that i have pierced, or almost anything for that matter all end up saying "that didn't hurt as much as what i thought it would". so be brave, even take some friends with ya if that will make you feel better. but hey, don't hide it from your parents cause they will find out one day. and 1 big word of advice, DON'T DO IT YOURSELF!!! not to hate, but you don't know what your doing, you could get a nasty infection, you might cause stress to that part of your body and you might leave a scar that is with you for the rest of your life. for those of you that have done it yourself, more power to you for having the guts 2 do it, but if you mess it up, it's in your hands. peace.

Getting your belly button pierced doesnt hurt at all. i seriously barely felt it. It really depends on how you take pain, but its just a pinch, its no big deal. LeXy, its better to get it poierced with a ring first, becasue its alooot easier to clean. if you have a barbell while its healing it just rubs against it to much and it gets infected. like when you site down and crouch over, the bottom of your belly button pushed the ring up and thats not good for it. When i got mine done, they did it with a ring, but then i changed it 3 weeks after to a barbell(DO NOT change it until it heals - in like 2-3 months. i know i was stupid for changing it =]).Most places usually do it with a ring becasue of these reasons.

I've had my belly pierced for about a month. I live in Ohio so things here might be different but you HAVE to be 18, there are no exceptions, if you want ANY piercing without having a parent with you. If you are under 18, you have no choice, it HAS to be your mom or dad. If you've gotten your cartilage on your ear pierced, honestly, I think that hurt more than getting my belly pierced. (I have my cartilage done 3 times)There wasn't anything to it. DON'T try to do it yourself or have a friend who thinks they know do it. Go somewhere professional and get it done by someone who knows what they are doing. If you don't, chances are, it isn't in far enough, or it will be crooked and most likely get infected. Make sure the place you go to is clean. As for pain, take your fingers and pinch your belly.. not too hard but with a decent amount of pressure. Thats it. Thats all you feel. Ask the person if he/she will count to three for you. When he gets to 2, inhale (this is when he will pierce) and exhale on 3. Pain is less when you inhale. There won't be blood, you won't pass out, its really quick and painless. Just clean it EXACTLY like they tell you and it should heal up and be fine :) I hope that helped!

alright here you go ladies well im 14 and one night with my friend i was just like alright im gonna do it...so i got a large safety pin and before that got a ring to put in it..i suggest a 14 gauge CURVED barbell as the first thing to put in it. i have had it in for about a month now and i have been taking very good care of it...well heres some tips for how you should do it if your planning on doing it by yourself..make sure you get rubbing alchol and clean your belly and the needle with it exteremly well but before that you should sterelize the needle with a lighter until it turns a bit black then whipe of the black and heres the best tip i can give you GO FROM THE INSIDE OF YOUR BELLY BUTTON TO THE TOP because i had already done it once before and i went from top to inside and it closed up because i couldnt find where the ring should come out.then just take your time and pinch a good amount of skin and just slowly shove it through it dosent hurt at all unfortunatly mine was not the sharpest needle so it took me two hours to get it completely through. you can ice it during the process if you need to. then you will start to see and feel the tip coming through and when you do twist it a little and it should suddenly jsut poke through! and when it does it will feel a little weird but its okay. now waht you want to do is leave the safety pin in your belly button over night so the hole wont close up because when i did it the first time i took it out right away and it closed. so leave the safety pin in a coulple of days then in order to stretch it out so that a barbell will fit in it you should move the non sharp end of the safety pin to the left side and leave it there for a few hours then turn it to the right side and that will stretch it a bit...then in a few days i suggest like 5 or so take the pin out and clean it completely with a little water and rubbing alchol and i use a little antibiotic cream stuff....and i love my belly ring it is adoralbe and im so glad that i did it but if your planning to do it safely and it wont hurt a bit believe me it hurts less then geting your ears pierced but remember it takes a lonnnng time to heal so make sure that no one hits you or anything there be cause it will hurt like no other lol and clean it maybe two tiems a day to get the gooey stuff that comes out out of it...good luck girls let me know if you tried the way i did and how it went!

PLEASE PEOPLE DO NOT PIERCE YOUR OWN BELLY BUTTON! Your belly button is the a piercing with the longest time to heal and most prone to infection. Doing it yourself increases the chance of infection by a lot. It will hurt less, be safer, and look better having it done by a professional. Plus if you go to a professional they can tell you the way to proper way to care for your piercing. Also I just read a question about gauge size. No matter what a ring says or people say no gauge is one size fits all. Everyone has a certain gauge that is best for them. When you get it professionally done they tell you. TO answer the question above about infection signs of infection are severe redness, swelling or hardness around the piercing, pain (usually throbbing pain, a small amount of pain is normal especially when rubbed against in the first few weeks), warm to touch and a thick discharge yellow or green in color (white to yellow discharge is normal and expected but if it becomes darker and thicker that is most likely an infection). If you experience any of these signs DO NOT remove the jewelry! Visit your piercer of doctor right away. An infection can lead to more serious problems if untreated. My dad is a doctor and freaked when I got mine done (even thought i am 20) b/c he knows how dangerous belly button rings can be if not taken care of properly or done wrong and how serious infections are. And to answer another question about the process You go there and they have you lie down and check your skin then they have you stand up and mark you and sit down again and they clean you then they might check again having you stand up. Then they clamp your belly button have you inhale and then when you exhale they take the needle and go from inside to out. It might sting b/c they put lubricant on to help ease the needle through they will clean that off in a second though and mine didn't hurt after that. Please really think about getting it done before you do. And i recommend getting it done in the fall when you have plenty of time to heal before you go in the water or have to show it off.

Hi i got my bellybotton periced 3 weeks ago and i am 13. when i got it periced it hurt alittle but u know that is just me everyone is differnt with pain. xxxhoneyxxx i am sry to say be it would get infected if u go to ur swimming party becuz u at least can't go in to the lake,swimming pool, soaking in the bath tub, or the ocean for 4 to 6 weeks. The next day after i got periced i went shopping and i acitdently hit my belly botton percing with my hand and it hurt like hell. For it to heal it take 2 to 6 months but u can change the percing after 8 weeks. I suggest don't play with it after to touch a door hadel in school or anything that has germs on it when ur bellybotton is in the process of healing. if u have any questions e-mail me at bluesurfer09@msn.com

Hi guys! I'm a thirty year old doctor from Australia, and have been piercing a lot of my patient's belly buttons recently. I'm not trying patronize you, but I feel like I need to give you some advice. When you get a piercing, you are having something pushed through your skin, into your body. It is only sensible to think it will hurt. Some places provide numbing, which helps to ease the pain. I can not stress enough how important it is to get it done professionally and keep it clean!! You only get one body, and you don't want to get it scarred or infected by doing an amateur job on it, just because you were too cheap to pay to get it done professionally. In regards to when you can swim and how to keep it clean, wake up!! Whether it's already done, or you're planning to get it done, ask a professional these questions, preferably before it's done. Don't take the word of teenage girls sitting at home dishing out advice at the same time they ask questions, as they obviously don't know everything themselves. I'm only saying this to help you, not to scare you, as I think it looks quite nice on the right person. I have mine done, and have been happy with the results. My dad took me to get it done. I was crying sooo bad like the only words that came out of my mouth was "Is it going to hurt?" Well im here to tell ALL that it DOES NOT HURT AT ALL!! and im a big wuss for pain but believe me i cant see how people can SCREAM when they get it done everyone who says it hurts is just trying to scare you into not getting it done but if you wanna get it done GET IT! It looks sooo cute! So you guys wanna here my whole story? Well here it is...On Saturday April 24,2004 (my birthday!!)my dad took me to get my belly pierced i was sooo excited! Okay...I'm 18 and got my belly button pierced back in January. Don't do it yourself because if it does get infected its not going to just infect your belly button, it will actually be an internal infection...it doesn't matter if your friends mom has pierced hers before of whatever, it can still get infected. If you do end up doing it yourself don't use a piercing gun that are normally used on your ears, all it does is ram a earing through there, and it can actually get stuck! Get it done professionaly, and it doesn't matter if you use a barbell or a ring, I got mine done with a barbell because I think they look better. I didn't think it hurt at all but that all depends on how you tolerate pain...most people don't think it hurts. All they do is take you back..mark your stomach so its straight, you lay down, they clamp it with these things, push a hollow needle through, and follow it with either your barbell or ring. After you get it done, dont use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol...it prolongs the healing process and it takes longer. Use like liquid dial soap to clean it while your in the shower, and don't touch it unless you are in the shower or that increases your chance of infection. I hope this helps all you

Ok, i have a few questions, i would REALLY appreciatte it if ya'll answer. Ok, Im 13 years old, (14 in one month) And earlier i had pierced my bellybutton by my self. It has a scar, and now my mom MIGHT let me get it done professionally, and was wondering if it hurt. Does it hurt more, for me Bcuz i pierced it B4 by myself? And what gauge siza should i use? What should, i use, a ring or barbell? And im am not th skinniest person out there, but im not fat, id say im in the middle, average size, would it look weird cuz i dont have a flat tummy? hey girls whats up? my name is angela and im 15 years old. i got my belly button done for my 15th birthday on january 31st this year. i was so scared!! you have no idea i almost passed out! i am the biggest wimp of pain. when i stub my toe i freik out and cry. but when i got it done on a pain rate of 1-10 i would say about a 4! so its not bad at all i promise. before i got mine done i was getting on these sites asking people if it hurt and i didnt know what to believe so i almost backed out. im so glad i didnt its so cute and its almost summer and i can show it off! my advise is dont look at the needle at all. it will scare you more. thats what i did so i wasnt so scared. it really isnt bad at all. if you can get your ears pierced or bite your tongue you can definately get your belly button pierced!! if its something you really want then go for it and dont hold back you'll regret it!! good luck....

This is an answer for *HANNAH* You are right do not let someone charge you less than £25 at least because for starters all the equipment is pricey, if they use the right stuff an plus your belly bar or ring if they use the right metal (which should be titanium) I got mine done for £42 and the place was very good an I got my belly button numbed by having it freezed! (very much recomended) you should really have a parent/guardian with you if you are under 18 years because it is likley that they will ask for a signature! This answer is for Chantelle! It takes about 2 - 7 days for the hole to fully close up! By the way your belly button dosent fully heal until a year after the piercing! But you are allowed to change it 3 monthes + after the piercing has took place! This answer is for Azaylia!! It wont look funny at all if you dont have a flat stomach! If you have a ring in your belly button there is a higher chance of it getting infected, as with a barbel they are easier to clean an easy to change! So I would say a barbel is better! But it is up to you! This answer is for Johanna!! Only a few piercing places numb it! To numb it they will freeze it! Which is very very cold! O.o My some of u guys are such baby's! it doesn't hurt at all dont worry about it , it applies to different people ,but i am only 13 and i seriously diden't feel more than a pinch! ,But i have a question..i think..no.. I KNOW i have an infection because around my piercing its dry and red and somewhat swollen i have NOOo idea how i got it!! i clean my piercing twice a day maybe its the tight belts i wear , but does anyone know how i can treat it? any suggestions will work due to im scared to tell my mom its infected because 1) i changed the belly ring 2 months after i got it when she told me to wait until the ENTIRE healing process is over (6 months to a year) 2) she might make me take it out!

Hey everyone. well i went to get my belly button pierced yesterday but the guy said i had to be 16 and im 15. but anyways im tryin to find out where my friends got theres, so if you in VA tell me where you got yours done. oh and does it hurt alot i mean i've been pinch my belly all day tryin to find out how bad it hurts. oh yeah and yesterday i went wit my sister to get hers done for the second time, because her first one wasnt straigt, but um she said it didnt hurt and i watched it all. First they clean your belly, then mark it, then tell you to lay down and clap your belly button, then grab the neddle, then tell you to take a deep breath, adn then when they tell you to let it out slowly they pierce it. so my question is WHERE CAN I GET IT DONE, AND DOES IT HURT?

um i am 13 gonna b 14 in lyk 5 days ( july 4) n i got my belly button pierced lyk 9 weeks ago n it really just feels lyk a pinch lyk the clamp is really pinch n then when they stick the needle through lyk the pinching just feels lyk it got tighter n thats it i even forgot i had it when i walk n stuff now it is healing but u have to wash it n do not play w/ it at all until lyk 3 months b/c i did n lyk i lost the ball to the ring i had n lyk i had to put in a barbell when it was too early n it got infected a lot n it sumtimes hurts wicked bad but lyk now its ok n lyk the pain does go away when its infected lyk give it a week n if it hurts longer than that then u should go to a docter or the piercer cuz it could b lyk bad ... yea

Hey guys tomorrow i am calling n going to make an appt. to get muh belly button pierced......i live in Massachusetts n i have read that u have to get i pierced with a ring so i was wondering if it is tru...do u have to get a ring....i kno they say it is easier to clean but do u have to i mean they can't force uright they just give u ur opinion....i do believe that it is easier to clean MAYBE but if i have to clean it twice as hard n pay more attention i will.....i just don't wanna get it done with a ring that i kno i won't like n not be happy so neway yea i was just wondering if ne1 in Massachusetts knows if u hve to or if u can get it done with a curved barbell cuz tht is wat i want!! hi im 17 years old(just to let you no i cant spell at all lol sry but i have to tipe this fast so i cant go back and fix my mis-spellind sry!!!!) ok well i got my belly button pierced today and i got it done with a barbell.i got told it would heal up better with one because it is curved differently & it would heal faster and better because its made out of sergical steal.it wouldent get infected as badlly and the color of it wouldent fade away.well when i got it done it hurt the first time,i had to get it done twice which really sucked a lot.she keeped trying to shove it in,she sayed i moved eventhough i didnt!she was the one that todally messed up!enyway the second time it was like a pice of cake i like diddent even feel it thats because i payed an extra 15 dollars for some stuff that nums you.but it was well worth it man cuz the first time was hell.well i would get it done with what ever you want but make sure that were your getting it done at is really good at piercings ok,dont make the mistake i did!!!so go have fun and get it done :)

hey i'm 14 and i just got it done! i was so happy my mom an dad said yes. i asked all my friends that had it if it hurt an everyone said no an 2 of my friends said that it hurt really bad so deep down i was soooooo scared, but i wanted it so bad that i got it. my dad took me an my friend came for the support. i sat down in the chair an was white and looked like i was going to pass out...the guy cleaned my belly butten and then had me stand up so he could mark where he was going to pierce it and then i sat down and told him i did not want to see the needle so he said to close my eyes so i did and i held my dads hand and in a matter of 5 sec. it was done no lie it was nothing an when it was done i was so happy. so if u want to get it done go for it cause it was nothing and its so fun when its done cause you can go bye different rings an stuff well have fun an don't worry! lol (just so you no i am a big baby an i cant take pain ...this was nothing)

Tacy, Ive had my navel pierced for 10 years and I've had two children during that period of time .Pierced navels dont have anything to do with having children.The only thing is that when you start to show you have to take it out for a while until after you've had your baby.If you go ahead and get yours pierced now it should be no problem. hope ive helped you .by the way i am a professional tatoo artist and body piercer.For the girl who sais getting in the ocean is bad for a piercing. you need to check your facts before you run ya mouth .the ocean actually helps heal a piercing because of the salt in the water.but if you do get in the water make suer you wash your piercing with clean water afrter. anyway gotta go hope ive helped! Getting your Belly Button Pierced does not hurt much. I have a very low tollerance for pain and i have had it done twice. One time i went to a place that was not very clean and it got infected. So that is why i have had it twice. So if i can do it repedatly then you can do it too. Just make sure you have found a place that is clean and make sure YOU SEE them pull all the equipment out of a sterial bag. A auto clave bag. That way you know it is clean and you won't get a infection from getting pierced with dirty stuff. I wish i had knew that . Oh and dont touch your piercing for a while. I was never told that also. So just go get it done if you want it . I promise you won't regret it.

I've always wanted my belly button pierced. My parents finally let me get it done for my 15th birthday. I go to the same place where my parents get their tattoos. There really clean and everything is sterilized. When u get it done all it feels like is a pinch.I doesn't't't'ruin your stomach.When you get older and want to have kids they make these things called retainers and it is a plastic bar bell and it keeps your hole open. just always remember to keep it clean. It takes about 6 months to two years form it to heal. It is a piercing that is lengthy in time to heal properly.You'll know when it is fully healed because the skin around your piercing will be the color of the rest of your skin. If you are impatient and can't wait that long for it to heal you can use sea salt. You put some sea salt in a cup with some warm water and then place the cup over your piercing for about 5 minutes. Don't play with the piercing and don't touch it with dirty fingers.

hey guys ive been reading all these answers, my answer to molly dont let n e 1 pierce ur belly button unless they r a certified professional piercer i have read hundreds of storys about people piercing their own belly buttons its real nasty you get scar tissue and have to go to hospital and sumtimes its life threatening this is no joke guys if i was u i would rather pay 100 bux than get a gross scarred belly button for the rest of your life... i reali want mine done im 12 turning 13 in about a month and my mum says no not until ur 16 my dad rekons it looks good does anyone have any tactics 2 munipulate my mum and make her change her mind? my suggestions to convince ur parents r: tell them how bad you want it done say u wont get any other piercings until ur 16-18 you wont complain to them if it hurts you'll pay * & they dont have to ever see it! hope this helps folks happy piercing!

Hey! You may have heard a few previouse posts from me going on about me being so scared and bla bla bla. ok grls I know you want da TRUTH! so here it is, when i had mine done, I thought that the clamps felt nice! (I'm wiered when it comes to things like that. But i find certain pain pleasurable. (I can't remember what the name for it is.) So the clamps felt nice but the needle stung. A BIT. it hurts when it first goes in. as it is going in you can feel it going through your body then you feel it come out. it hurts when the needle enters and exits. Not when it is actually iside of you. Then they put the jewellery in. that just felt like a little mini sting. then once it has been all done up the pain just dissapiers. it is actually facinating how quick it goes! I chose a barbell with a bluee greenie bottom ball with a clear gem and a gold colour ball with a clear stone in aswell. the bar is green blue and prpl it is so lovely. it stings afterwards for a couple of days. but no matter what pain you go through afterwards, YOU HAVE YOU BELLY BUTTON PIERCED!

Hey everyone, i'm going to get my belly button pierced on monday, ( today is saturday ). I'm not going to ask if it hurts or not, but not to be mean or anything niether should anyone else beacuse there is not a TRUE answer tot he question. Everyone else has a different pain tollerance, a different piercer ect. ect. But if you want it done go for it!! if it's somthing you really want done and everything. I am going to The Matchbox, in Fort Myers, Florida. ( i'm from syracuse, new york i'm on vacation ) I have already checked the place out and everything is very sterile and clean. The people are also very nice. As far as ring or barbell, it is better to get a barbell becaue if you have a ring it never truly lays flat it always goes from side to side when you're wearing shirts and stuff over it but the barbell lays flat to you stomache and is sure to heal better. Well I think that if you are scared if it is goin to hurt or not...you arent mature enough to get it done. You should listen to yourself...and when your body tells you are ready and you arent scared of the "pain" ne more then that is the time. Also for the younger girls (12-15)...your bodies are still growing...good luck with your piercing getting stretched out as you grow. I think that the rule for you not to be able to get your belly pierced until you are 16 is very smart. I know yall wanna look cute..but honestly you are too young. Stick to your middle school ways...and listen to your parents. They know what they are talking about. So stop bein brats!

Hey ya'll...I can tell a lot of you are scared and are planning to get your belly button pierced. Well, I have had mine done before. About a year ago. I am now 14. Getting your belly button doesn't hurt all that bad. You will feel a little pinch, but if you keep telling yourself it is going to hurt really bad and keep building up your nerves there will be a chance it will hurt more then it usually would. I personally think that getting your belly button pierce hurts less then getting your ears pierced. I also had my nose pierced sometime last year in the 8th grade and it did hurt more then a belly button piercing. Just make sure you all go to a safe & clean piercing parlor with trusting and professional piercers. hey ppl i got mine pierced on the 7th of april which about what 3 weekz ago... i was so scared before i got it done, i was freaking out cause they made me wait 20 minutes cause the piercer was at lunch...i must've stressed myself out to the max and i tried to be calm n cool as i walked into the piercing room, the piercer washed his hands then put sum rubber gloves on, he stood in a corner n sterilized the needle n stuff so i couldnt see (i only know this because i went with my friend the week erlier for support) he then measured me up and put 2 little dots on my belly button, i then layed down on the bed sorta-ish thing and i felt him put the clamp on i was so scared and i heard the piercer say 1, 2 and just as he was about to say 3 i was going to stop him but he said it and the needle went through, it hardly hurt at all, not so much like a pinch but a sorta little prick... i was so relieved that it was over n i got up and had a look at my belly in the mirror, but as the piercer was cleaning everything started to become black, i woke up a couple of seconds later lying on the bed not knowing what was going on, apparantly i froze up and fell backwardz and smashed my head against the wall, when i woke up i was so dis-orientaded i threw up...i spose i copped the raw deal hey...my belly button also got infected after a couple of days, i couldn't beleive it!!! i'd been cleaning it how he told me and everything, and i went back there about 10 days after to show them what had happened to it, they gave me a new barbell and told me that the piercer had pierced it crooked, now after 3 weeks my belly is still infected but i don't regret it one bit...anyway sorry for draining u all... bek

Alo0o, I'm13 and i got my navel pierced on st George's day ( 23rd April) 2005 and it's honestly NOTHING for me. Please, don't stress at people for saying it hurts and other saying it doesn't, because at the end of the day it's your body and you are the person who knows your body more than anybody else. A stranger who reads your post can't tell you if it will hurt you, they can only talk from their experience, like me. I went into the place i was sooo worried. I paid £45 and went thru to a little room. I stood up while the pierced wiped some cleaning stuff and marked on. Then you lay down in what's like a dentist chair and i squeezed my eyes shut tightly. You know when the needle has pierced your stomach because you can feel it but for me it barely hurt. A bee sting, stinging nettle or biting your tongue DEFINITELY hurts more. Hope this helped! You should go for it, no pain no gain. It looks lovely and i love mine.It's easy to take care of. I'm English and i use something called Savlon, but it tends to vary depending on your location. Hey, Ok so ive wanted mine pierced for like a year, and finally after begging my parents thye finlly agreed, so yesterday me and my two friends, and my mom, went too this spa/nail place that also did body piercings.I kept asking the lady if it hurt, and she kept telling me it didnt,shes like if you are too scared you can walk around the mall till you're ready, but id chicken out if i waited any longer, so i went into the room, and sat down in the long white dentist chair thing, and she first but this like glob of yellow too clean the area, than she made a purple dot, than she took this clamp and stuck a needle through, the msot painful part, was when she put this thick metal bar through too like expand my hole enough for a barbelle, it hurts for like a few minutes, but its worth it. i love it. if you wanna get it done you definetly should.

hey well i got my belly button pierced about 11 weeks ago it did not hurt at all like i passed out when i got my ears pierced and i think this hurt less i got a barbell cuz i think they look better but i hear that with a ring you can turn them and such so it makes it easier to clean but they are kinda ugly in my op-pinion anyways you should clean it twice a day with pure saline and to salt water soaks it has worked for me they advised me to stay out of the water which makes sense swimming in dirty water that people could pee in but if you must just make sure you clean it well afterwords so i hope this has helped have fun i think they are awesome oh and don't change it before 4 months you could be at risk for a infection just wait

Ok, well I have had mine done for about a month now, before I got it done I thought it would hurt sooo bad. But you know, it doesnt at all. I felt soo stupid for being so nervous. He clamps it and that hurts a tiny bit but thats because he couldnt get any of my skin up because I am so damned skinny. He didnt even care that I was only 13, no one in NY does for certain piercings if you have your parents signature. Well, he told me "I am going to put it through now." So I said "Ok." And he wasted no time at all, it was like he just lifted his hand up and slammed it through. Which I know he didnt or my mom would have been mad. I leaned up a bit and went to look at the needle in my stomach but didnt. So he took out the thing after he had the hoop in and he closed it some and screwed the ball on. I just felt soo stupid for being nervous. Trust me it doesnt hurt one bit.

Alibabe244 get ur belly button pierced cuz if you get ur nose pierced and if it gets infected you can get a great big bump on your nose and it will look really bad ...if it gets infected ..belive meh my sister pierced her own nose and luckly it dodnt get infected she just had too put cream on it every day thow and now she has a scar on her nose and also she didnt sterilize the needle..But it looked kewl...but i would say belly button cuz if it get infected then you can cover it..And Vollbalchick11 your cuzzin is a liar you have too wait till the belly buttin is healed and then you can change it and i want to know does it hurt aswell...Even if it does i want it so0o bad ..meh and my bff are suppose too go this summer and get it done..But shes terrified of needles...and i dont want her too cry ...and we need a good place too get it done..And im nawt too sure what my parents will say cuz i really want it done like really badly ..how can i convince them toomlet meh get it done...if you have a idea or any questions please email meh or add my msn its lil_priss666@hotmail.com thanx luv u all ..buhbyex

hi im 13 and very small so wen i got my belly button done i thought it would hurt alot !!!!!!!! i was shaking a lot wen i went into the room the lady marked my belly button and told me to lie down on the bed then she clamped it this hurt a bit she then told me that was the worst part over and she put some cream/liquid on my belly button to numb it she then got got a white tube thing with a neddle on the end and stuck the end of my stud on it she pushed the neddle through the dot she had marked earlier this didnt hurt as much as the clamp she pushed the top on and put vaseline on it and a cotton pad. i went home and a hour later got into the shower to wash of the vaseline for the next 8 or so weeks i cleaned my belly button 2 times a day with the aftercare solution and washed my hands and belly button often to make sure i didnt get a infection i can now change my belly ring which i do do occasially i don't regret gettin my belly button done and would tell people that if you are prepared to look after the piercing probaly and get it pierced at the right place you will be very happy with the end result. i had my belly button pierced at the maxx in bromsgrove

Piercing your belly button doesnt hurt. i mean i went three days ago and i just felt a pinch, it feels like your getting a shot from the doctor. then when they take out the needle and put in the ring you cant even feel it. im not gonna lie, while the healing starts it does tend to hurt a bit but as long as u wash it real good and keep it moist and clean you'll be fine. any girls who like to wear tight clothes, u cant while your healing becuz your piercing need air to breathe or else it will get infected. also you cant use alcohol or peroxide water to clean it cuz it will make your skin dry. if you notice that your navel is infected take out the ring right away cuz the infection will only get worse. so if anyone cares to get their navel pierced i say go for it! the trick is to close your eyes while they pierce it and think of something else, they do it so quick that you probably wont notice they did it! well thatz the best answer i can give! good luck!

Hey everyone i just got back pretty much from getting my belly button pierced im only 14 but you have to be 14 were i live so wen i got to the piercing shop i was really scared but my friend came along and was calming me down my mom signed all the forms and paid and then the piecer called me back into this room i was then really scared she made me stand up and she cleaned my belly and marked a hole for the needle to go through and come out she let me sit on the bed while she got everything ready when i saw her pull the needle out of a package i was so afraid it looked so thick and it looked like a minature spear she made me lay down and then she put ont the clamp ( i really dont no how people say that the clamp hurts more then the piercing cause to tell you the truth i barely felt her put it on) she then told me to take a deep breath in and slowly let it out and then she pierced it, it felt really tight and unusual cause u normally dont feel pain like that on your stomach but it wasnt that bad the only part that i thought actually kind of hurt was when she put the barbell in but otherwisae it was pretty good and it only hurt and stung for like 2 seconds then it was fine and im pretty bad with pain she let me look at it in a mirror and i really liked it im so glad i got it done and i think you all who want it should just go out and do it youll really enjoy it!

I got my bellybutton piercing for the first time 2 days ago. I'm a wimp and I was really timid about getting it done. I knew that I wanted it so the excitement pushed away any fear. When I laid down to get pierced, I was so nervous.. I had just watched my friend get it done, and it didn't look too painful, but I was still a little apprehensive. After putting the clamp on me, the man came over with the needle, put the cork to the upper side of my bellybutton, and pushed the needle through. I was in shock at how little it hurt. Honestly, my ear piercings hurt 10 times more. It was nothing, and I had gotten all nervous for no reason. So for anyone of age that is thinking about getting it done, but the fear of pain is getting in the way.. don't let it. To me, it was virtually pain free.

First off, anyone under the age of 16 should not get piercings, especially 11-12 yr olds? Are your parents sane? I got mine at 19. Second, do not go to run down tattoo/piercing shops, go around to 2-3 well known shops and go to the cheapest one. Third, it doesn't hurt when the needle is inserted because of the lubricant, but it may hurt a little when the needle is coming out because there is no lubricant. Also, if your guy is having trouble trying to match the needle coming out with the ball point mark, he will poke u several times. hey,anyone out there tht wants to get their belly pierced,bring sum frens along n do it for the fun of doin n juz relax..im 14 n juz had it done..surprisingly,it doesnt hurt at all.i had my 1st ear peircing after the belly piercing at the same day literally..how the artist actually do wid the belly piercing was,mine was quick n simple..juz pick out a barbell n he ll ask u to hold some ice on ur naval for 5 minutes then spraying sumthin cold then right away streching the naval a bit n juz put a sterelized needle through the naval following wid the barbell n wid juz a quick adjusment its done .. truthfully , i think my ear peircing hurts more than belly peircing..the thing now is,i have to wear tops tat covers the belly to hide it away from my parents!

You all ask if it hurts. For me, it did. The piercing itself is over in just a few seconds, but my piercing was not done straight, and not positioned right. For the next two days, I broke out in a sweat, felt dizzy, I had sharp, shooting pains throughout my whole abdomen and towards my back. My whole chest area was sore, and it was uncomfortable to breathe. I felt like I was going to pass out several times, and decided to pull the piercing out. I ended up in the emergency room, and I was really scared. It was not an infection, and it was done in a clean place. No-one has ever heard of this kind of reaction, but my guess would be that it was either an allergic reaction or a nerve was damaged. The horrible pain did not go away until next day, and all that was left then was the soreness of the piercing. I will never do it again.

People who want to get your belly button pierced don't worry at all.I'm 11 and got my navel pierced on Monday 11-28-05.The guy took me back in a big room and asked me to sit n a dentist looking chair,then asked if i wanted a hoop or barbell,i said barbell,then he marked where he was going to pierce me,he took out really small clamps out,clamped me then i looked down that seemed like some giant needle that wasnt big at all getting ready to go through me,then my mom covered my eyes joe(the piercer guy) told me to take a deep breath so i did and pop a needle went through me.It goes so fast you cant feel it.It feels like getting your ear pierced not even that bad,so it didnt hurt and its been 2 days since iv got it done. well g2g ~haley~

Wow. I can't believe girls this young are piercing their bodies. I have a daughter that is still in elementary school and I get very nervous to think about her growing up so fast. I don't think girls under 18 should be concerned about showing off their bellies and their new jewelry. From reading the above questions and answers it seems like their time should be spent learning to spell and how to properly compose a letter. I only stumbled upon this because I was wondering how long a person needed to wait to go swimming after a belly piercing? I was planning on piercing mine and I wanted to allow sufficient time for it to heal before going on a cruise with my husband. If anyone knows the answer to this question please respond. Girls have fun being young. You have plenty of time. Let your bodies develop and mature naturally and with age and life experience make these decisions. To Tell you the truth i was soo scared lying there waiting for it to happen , but while she was doing it i was soo happy i was just consintrating on how it would look after it was done .. and i loved it :) im soo glad i ahve it done .,. i love showing off my belly , and Lady's .. it only hurts when they start to put the needle in so thats like 2 seconds not that long right ? then you dont even realize its there after rlike 10 minute's .. and in those 10 minutes it dont even hurt.. its soo awesome !! and i got mine done without my parent or permisson .. and they let me .. i just made up a big fat lie .. and pretended iw as aloud and that my parents where really busy this whole month .. bla bla bla and guess what it worked .. so its TOTALLY worth it .. Every boyfriend i ahve had .. has loved it :)

Hello Everyone i had my belly button done yesterday and i am not just saying it to make it all all right but it did not hurt me one bit & i have really sensitive skin & i am terrified of needles i used the clamp and its the best possible way! it looks grate and i feel more confident now wearing bikinies and all that in the summer so for those who are unsure about having it done do not worry its a split second pain and its worth while as it just feels like a little pinch! JUST SOME ADVICE ALSO FOR THE LITTLE ONES WHO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THEIR BELLY BUTTON DUN THERES NO POINT AS YOU HAVE NOT FINISHED GROWING YET! i have another question...i peirced my own belly button..twice...the first time i didnt like the way it looked so i took it out. then about 2 months later i peirced the same spot again and this time i like it..the new one is doing fine but there is still a hole under the top of my belly buton skin from the first time. about a week ago it had strated to get like a scab and crusty and i thot that just ment it was done healing..but just 5 minutes ago i realized that it looked discusting. it has like a red flesh bubble coming out...its gross...im so stupid for doing it my self. dont do it yourself...i was stupid enough to. please help me figure out what to do...i cant tell my mom bcus id die either way..so please help me in what to do...thanks.

I am not experienced in the field of piercing belly buttons, but you can read this and see if this helps you any at all! My belly piercing experience wasn't too bad, all things considered. I went in the piercing parlor and started by filling out a sheet of paper and letting them make a copy of my driver's license. I went into the back room and sat in the chair as the piercer put her gloves on and opened the "utensils". She started by drawing a black dot on my belly button to mark the spot and then clamped my belly button around it. The rod that they used to pierce me with kind of looked like a piece of PVC tubing with an oblique edge at the end. I assume that it cuts a piece out of your stomach instead of just shoving a closed end through your stomach? They just shove it through and stick the belly ring in the hole at the end and pull it through your newly made hole! I would recommend asking them to use a gold (or white gold) horse shoe shaped belly ring to be pierced with if possible! My friend who got pieced with a barbell ended up switching hers out to a horse shoe ring 10 days later because the ball started to grow into her skin from where there wasn't enough room for the bar! I admit, the horse shoe may not sound very cute, but it doesn't look that bad, it's actually really cute and it's better than having something growing into your skin! As far as the pain goes, it was more than what I expected, but nothing to worry about. I went in there acting all macho like it wasn't going to hurt in the least bit so I wasn't prepared for pain. Like I said, it isn't so painful that it's unbearable, just a sting for a bit and it's over. If you want it done bad enough, it won't bother you at all. As a matter of fact I was rather disappointed I couldn't see her stick the rod through me (her hand was in the way!). You are supposed to clean it 3 times a day with antibacterial soap (such as Dial clear liquid soap [unscented if available]). Make sure your hands are clean before touching the area! I use little 3oz. cups and put the soap and water and swish it around a few times on my stomach and turn the jewelry back and forth to clean it. Wash it like this for 3 weeks and after that I would wash it 1-2 times a day. SALT SOAKS-Use Epsom salt and mix 1/4 teaspoon of salt with 1 cup of warm-hot water to help remove the crusties that form. Again, I use the little 3oz. cups to soak. Soak your belly button for 10-15 minutes then rinse; do this for 3 weeks. I did all of this for the 3 weeks and at the 4th week some gooey stuff came out of the hole and was really sore on one side like it had a pocket of something! Not good news. I bought peroxide and a 14kt. gold belly ring, switched it out and poured some peroxide over the piercing 2-3 times a day and it seems to be doing much better!!!! It has been a little over a month since I got my belly button pierced so I'm still in the beginning stages! Like I said earlier, I think it is very important to get a GOLD belly ring and try to get a HORSE SHOE ring or something that will give your piercing more room to heal! Don't swim for the 1st 3 weeks, wait at least a month before changing your jewelry (the piercer told my friend you can change it anytime as long as your hands and jewelry are clean, but obviously the longer you leave it in the better!), try to resist playing with it (it will be hard to I know!), don't wear tight clothing (it will irritate the piercing), and don't use alcohol or neosporin (these will only make things worse)! I hope this will help some of you by answering some of the questions you have!!!

i had mine done yesterday i have a pink stone at the top and the bottom ill tell the truth it hurts but its not unbearable there are only 2 small pinches 1 for the needle to go through and one for the bar/ring to go through its not that bad honestly! heres what they do in steps: 1. draw a line to see if you are satisfied with it being central. 2. lay down and put 2 little clamps on to hold it in place (some people say this is painful-not at all just a little uncomfortable it pulls you about just a little. 3. spray of freezing stuff on to make sure it is numb 4. gets a little this tube with a needle and pokes it up the top bit on your button (this sounds painful but seriously it isn't just a pinch once again.) 5. puts the bar through! there you have it a lovely pretty belly bar/ring that took approximately 10 seconds!!!!!!!!! afterwards it stings a little from here and now but its not bad and try not to knock it with anything. keep it clean with salt water wash your hands before touching it and therefore it will be fine !! thank you for reading this i hope it helped , for anyone who is anxious just go for it i was petrified but i just got on the chair they did it and now it is lovely!! im so glad i went through with it. love charli x

I just got my belly button pierced and I thought it hurt a little bit. Not terrible pain, but it was worse than a shot for me. Alot of people I know however say it doesn't hurt so it really must depend on the person. If you are considering getting your naval pierced make sure you are ready for the responsibility. You have to be able to take good care of it so it doesn't get infected. Also it will hurt a little after you get it done. It's hard to bend over. I know I layed around the first day after I got it done. The next day was better for it though, I now just have to make sure when I sleep I don't end up on my stomach cuz that hurts sometimes. If you are going to get it done, go to a professional. I don't care how many have done it on your own and that your fine blah blah blah ... there will always be that one person where hers gets screwed up--dont take that risk. Getting a ring is better than a barbell thing because it can move around and helps with infection. Plus your artist will most likely give you something to clean it with and instructions. I got seasalt spray that i use every 3 to 4 hours. I was told to use antibacterial soap if i wanted and also that vitamin C and a few other vitamins help speed up the healing process. Swimming in the ocean is fine because the salt helps heal it but DO NOT swim in a pool until your belly button is totally healed. This process changes from person to person. Just take care of it and make sure your ready to get it done. AND DONT TOUCH IT UNLESS YOU HAVE TO!! Have a Happy Piercing =)

No your belly ring cant freeze to your stomach. Yes it will hurt but it depends on you and your pain tolerance level, it's not going to feel nice but if you want it go and get it done! DO NOT PEIRCE IT BY YOUR SELF MANY THINGS CAN GO WRONG YOU DO HAVE NERVES AND VEINS THREW OUT YOUR BODY THAT CAN BE HURT. I would say wait until your parent will take you to a professional, it will cost any where from 15-60 depends where you live. So piercers will say no if they feel you are to young. If a professional piercer says they will Peirce you with out your parent they arnt professional. It is illegal to Peirce your own body, it is called self mutilation! im 15 and had had mine peirced today, it kinda hurts, it feels like a stinging pain but this goes after an hour or so but everyone is different. but it does bleed. Also i couldnt feel the clamp. it is worth while The procedure for Naval peircing: - 1. Area cleaned with medical whipe 2. marks are then placed on the skin 3. pre- sterilised clamps are placed position 4. Area is then sprayed so it goes numb (i didnt think this worked) 5. Needle then taken from its pack and then passed through the skin. 6. Needle is then removed, leaving a small plastic tube. 7. jewelry is then inserted into the plastic tube and passed through the peircing. After care peircing must be covered for the 1st week with adhesive dressing, which should be changed Daily. Clean the area one or twice a day with witch hazel or warm salt water. continue cleaning for 6 weeks and do not change the jewelry within this time. Do not go swimming, use sun beds or bath products for the 1st week.

Your not supposed to swim in pools because of the chlorine water, but the ocean is fine because it is salt.but remember to clean it when done. the white ring IS a sign of healing.Always wash hands before touching the piercing.DUH??? I am a little bigger than most girls and I have had mine for 2 months. I love it, (so do the guys).So go for it. It only pinches for a second. but then your so excited to see it you don't even realize that it stings slightly. I am also 17 so for the little 12 year olds, remember your only 12 your body's are still growing, if you get taller your stomach will stretch making your piercing look like crap. I have changed the ring like 6 times, it got infected about 3 weeks into the piercing, but healed quickly, if it does get infected, use dial soap and salt soaks, and ointment creme if needed. and just because your are on your period, doesn't mean one bit that your are more prone to pain. it just means your a wuss. the only pain you get with your period is cramps and bloating and headaches, unless your dumb enough to forget you got your belly pierced and grad your stomach because of a cramp. then ya your just dumb. any more questions.

the tongue piercing doesn't hurt at all..... the clamp ( these tong things that they clamp on ur tongue that way u don't move it while they're trying to do the piercing) hurts more than the actual pain..... (the clamp is more of an annoying pain... it doesn't hurt as if the cut ur tongue off or nothin like that.......) then they put the needle thru and since ur focusing on the stupid clamp u don't feel anything....... but ur tongue will swell..... that hurts as if u bit ur tongue...... several times.... lol.... but it doesn't really hurt....... wut hurts is the nose piercing.... that made my eyes tear up but it goes away in like a day and it looks really cute!!! the eyebrow fells like a pinch and so does the belly button..... when u get the cartilage on ur ear pierced the actual piercing doesn't hurt but afterwards it does... u can't sleep on it but besides that it's all good.....

Hey guys, I was just wondering if it did hurt. I've been reading this website and a few other ones & plenty of people say that it doesn't hurt, but on ther other hand,alot of people are afraid & say it does hurt. School for me starts on Sept.5th. I'm in cheerleading & i take gymnastics & im in band( i play tuba.) & i was wondering if it would affect me being in cheerleading at all. well i got my belly button peirced when i was 11 or 12 i forget but i got it peirced and it didn't hurt at all. Then, it fell out and cartilage got thick in the hole and i got it re-peirced and that didn't hurt at all then 2 weeks later i got it stretched to a 16 gauge (the gauge its suppose to be) and it didn't hurt at all either. So, you have nothing to worry about. Oh yeah, and my little nephew pulled on it really hard one night and that didn't hurt at all either so dont be scared. And think of it as this, it might hurt when you get it but its worth the pain because a few days later you have a painless, beautiful peircing that you will love forever. plese i have heard many comments of wether it hurts or not and i dont know who to believe on the left people or saying it really painfull and on the right people or saying that its painless!especislly my veryt!close friend but i have disovered that there is more people saying it is painless the painfull and people who say it is painfull make it todramatic to believe it hurts so i am getting mine done tommorow and wish me luck and if you have a coment about what i have say or a suggestion about cleaning my belly ring or stud plese reply cause i dont know much about cleaning it though i am very luckt o have 2 aunties and a couple of friends and a best friend to help me but plese help and CYRSTAL i wouldnt go idn the sea or irate the ded skin as it is probly protecting it from infection and is a way of your body protecting it for a while!bye xxx

i got mine done 2 days ago. I'ma little bit on the chubby side so i was kinda nervous because i wasn't stick model thin... but i said "who cares i want it" so i got it. it cost $35 and then i paid $15 for the aftercare spray so $50 overall but it was well worth it. I filled out the paperwork and waited a few minutes while the piercer got the stuff together and set up in the back room. she called me back and lifted my shirt where she cleaned my belly button to sanitize the area and then marked it. before I asked my piercer [who is the most awesome woman ever] if it hurt, she looked at me and said "this is one of the easiest piercings.. whoever said it hurt didn't have it done the right way" i felt very comfortable with her. so i laid down on the table. she told me to put my arms behind my head and she counted "one two..." and on three the needle went through. She was like "you're pierced" It was NOTHING and I'ma scaredy cat when it comes to pain. I was so nervous for nothing. And when she put in the jewelry i barely felt anything. even two days later i feel nothing. sometimes if i hit it by accident or when the holes "attach" to the ring [due to healing] and it tugged there is a little discomfort... but other than that there was NO blood except around the holes a little while after nothing dripped out all over the place... if i had to do it all over again, i would. i may just get one on the lower part of my belly button, (i got an upper navel.) So i recommend it. And if you're chubby who cares... if you want it, just get it. And as far as having kids one day goes, it wont prevent you from having kids... but the holes will stretch and you might have some "deformity" but they now make jewelry for pregnant women so i guess there's less risk of closure/weird stretching. anyways... i hope this was helpful. if you live on/near STATEN ISLAND, NY go to Ron & Dave's on Manor Rd. Thats probably the best place to get stuff done. I got my tattoo, 2 middle cartilages and of course my belly button done there and i plan on getting everything else there too. good luck!

hey , ok im 12 years old my birthday is in december and my mom is letting my get my belly button pierced and im scared my sister has it done and she says it hurts more then her tattoo , but i doubt it . She's always saying sutff like that . so im not trying to freak people out or anyting . but i have a like a belly , lets say and im not skinny . but should i still get my belly button pierced? like would it get infected more because of where im bigger then skinnier girls or anything , or will it just be the same as piercing somoenes whose skinny . write backa s soon as possible , its november and im getting it done in december . hey everyone. i got my belly button pierced yesterday at inkredible ink in Orlando fl. it was no big deal. i went in , and then 15 min later i walked out with the barbell in my belly. when i got there i told the guy what i wanted, i had to fill out papers, and then he asked me if i wanted a ring or a barbell. the ring was 25$ and the barbell was 35$. a ring is like a ring that goes around your finger, its a ring going through your belly button. a barbell is like a typical naval piercing. it has a ball at the top and then goes through your belly button and had a ball on the bottom. i chose a barbell. i went into a back room, and i lifted my shirt up. he sanitized my naval area. i didn't even lay down, he didn't even numb it or anything. i leaned against a doctor looking patient bench with my elbows and then had my feet together straight to the floor. he was telling me how to clean it, and i didn't even know the needle was in my belly. then i felt a tight pinch & twist, and my friend said "look at your piercing!" and because i had my eyes closed, i opened them and saw it. it looked so cute! i started to get kind of dizzy, from the adrenalin & such. my piercer gave me a mountain dew to get my endorphins running. then he gave me a sheet for instructions on cleaning it. he said it was very important NOT to touch it ever! except when cleaning it. then when i was all better, we tipped him and left. I'lladmit it, i was scared. but it hurt as bad as getting your ears pierced. not very much pain at all. just go through it, because if you chicken out then you'll regret it for sure. also make sure you tell your parents, I'm 14, and my parents went with me, including me sister and best friend. it was a great experience and I'm glad i got it. but if your 10 or something, then don't get it because you might not be responsible enough to clean it. you have to clean it a minimum of 3 times a day. you 10-12 year olds & younger are still waiting for your periods to come & etc. but to answer this whole question. it was nothing! go get your belly button pierced and have fun. its quick, easy, and cute. peace outt :]

Hey everyone, I got my belly button pierced about 2 hours ago. I thought about it for a year cause I wanted to make sure that i was absolutely positive about getting it done. Well at 14, which I am now I was sure I wanted to get it done. My mom, my sister and I drove to the place called " Body & Soul " and my sister already got hers done a couple years ago so this wasn't a near experience for her to see. 1 thing to make sure of, always check around and make sure the place is clean, the piercer is using latex gloves, and takes out new equipment out of the packaging. First I stood up and he marked my belly-button with a marker so I can see how it looks like. Then I laid down and he told me he was going to put the clamp on my belly because it's easier for the needle to go through or something like that lol, then I had to breathe in and breathe out and he put the needle in, then he took it out placed the barbell i chose in and cleaned it. To be 100% honest it hurt a bit, it was a hard pinch. But everyone feels differently. It was so worth it, anyone who wants theres pierced GO FOR IT! Your gonna love it. By the way my piercer was very friendly and I was comfortable. I can't stop looking at it, it looks awesome. Just remember to clean it twice a day to avoid infections, use the anti-bacterial soap your piercer gives you, and if you want you can ask them if you can soak your piercing in sea salt for about 10 minutes. Don't use alcohol because you can damage your piercing. Just stick with what your piercer says. Hope my advice helped you all, be positive and whatever you do, don't play with your piercing. Okay I havent gone mine done by a pro but I did it twice by myself but it came out crooked but it healed so its all good. My cousin has never lied to me and she got it twice by a pro. the first time she said it didnt hurt it was a pinch like if you friend were to do it on your hand. the second time because there was a scar she said it hurt a lil. But when she asked the pro they said that the only time it would give more than a pinch is if your fat...( you know what I mean) so if you feel the upper belly button and there is alot of fat/flesh consider doing pushups if your boney like me and only have skin well your not gonna fell it. all my friends have gotten it and they said people are wimps when they say it hurts and trust me my friends are huge wimps when it came to other things I hope that helps!

I got my belly pierced just over a week ago, i was so nervous like most of you are, but i wanted it done so much i was prepared to go through with the pain. I got to the studio and was nicely welcomed by the lady who was going to do it :) I went into the room and i stood there whilst she marked out using a pen where she was going to put the hole. She then told me to lay down on something which looked like a dentist chair. The lady sprayed numbing stuff onto my belly and then put on the clamps.. when she put through the needle it was just like a sharp tingling sort of pain going all through your body and it lasts for about a second. Its not bad at all. I would reccomend you all to get it done :) You do need to remember to keep it perfectly clean though or it could turn nasty :)

heya im sofy to da ? by TRACY, getting your belly button peirced reali doesnt hurt and i barley felt anything, when your pregnants you can also get plastic bars to go thru yooh, they are totaly safe but they bend with your tummy, if not, you can just take it out. dis is a answer to FLUFFY BUNNY and to any1 else hu wants to get there belly pierced but is abit self concious, wen i got mine done my belly was flat-ish and of corse i had da bloated days, but having my belly pierced made me think about getting more toned and now i think it looks great, you should go for it, it doesnt hurt and its really fun, any other questions just add me on beautifull_mysterious@hotmail.co.uk tra lads xxx

I came across this site here.Honestly who takes advice from people around the world that they have no idea are?Thats rather pitiful.Take your doctors advice,most just take the chances of letting some person penetrate their navel.Don't always think, "Oh that won't happen to me" Well hunny, it can happen to anybody.[Infections.ect] So really i suggest you get off this stupid internet taking peoples advice from around the world. Don't get me wrong, belly button pericings are most definatly cute! I plan on getting mine someday, but a safe way. Hi my names maddie && im 13! me && my bo[ii] friend went to get some piercings dne yesterday he got his eyebrow pierced && i got my belly button dne wen we went in the piercing studio i was soooooooo scared i wasnt sure if i wanted it dne! Well my bo[ii] friend went in first && waited outside while i was waitin i choose the bar i wanted i chose i silver one wiv a silver coloured diamonte gem on the top && bottom! wen my bo[ii] friend came out i went in i stood up and tucked my shirt into my bra so they cud mark the where the were goin to pierce it! i had my belly button pierced yesterday!i went to kathmandu in hull{east yorkshire,england} to start with the guy was really hot,and had a cute smile which helped ease me up a little coz i was so nervous,he dotted me with a pen,where the needle would go through,then he said to lie down,so he could check it!then he got the clamp{which i have bin told would hurt}but i didnt feel it!he had some friendly banter,and then put the freezing stuff on me!it felt like it was burning my skin.but he said thats because its freezing it,then he said take a big deep breathe and quickly breath out!and as i did he put the needle through!i wouldnt say it was painful,but i think you do feel the needle go through!then after this he said look,the bars in now! when i got home,it had bled a lot!but i went in the bath and bathed it and now its better!it hasnt gone red,or swollen up but at the moment,at the top of the piercing is a little bruised! i'd say it hurt a little while afterwards!but considering you just had a needle through your stomache!its not as bad as what you expect!and you have something that looks really stunning!!!

First off...11 and 12 year olds shouldn't be getting any piercings...for the simple fact that you don't know what you want..as much as you think you may, you'll realize that in a few years. Second...if you insist on having it done..go to a professional, don't let someone pierce you even if it is your best friend..or your parent (which i'm not sure who's parent would literally shoot their daughter in the stomach with a rifle for a bellybutton piercing..that's beyond me) but just the same...go to a professional. A bellybutton takes a long time to heal..from 6 months to a year depending on how quickly you heal. Our bodies are all different and some people's body actually rejects the piercing by pushing the jewelry outward...if you ever have a problem or something looks funny to you, you need to get it checked out, you can go back to your piercer and they can help you or you may choose to go to a family doctor. Also..if you think you may have an infection..NEVER take the jewelry out, all this is going to do is trap the infection in your body and cause further problems..so in that case you need to go see a doctor and get some antiobiotics and take really good care of it, your piercer can help you with what to do in this case as well. You also shouldn't expose this piercing do direct sunlight, or beach water, or any type of public water. You aren't going to want to touch this piercing..and you aren't going to want to change the jewelry until it is completely healed!! The person piercing it should know that it needs to be done with a ring..and nothing else, this makes the piercing very hard to change yourself because they use pliars to get them nice and snug so the ball doesn't fall out during the healing process, so if done correctly..you're going to want to go back to your piercer and have them change your jewelry for you..in some places this is free in some there is a small fee of maybe $5..it should be free for the first time..after removing the original jewelry you shouldn't have any problems changing the jewelry yourself. The main thing is to realize that you are mature enough to do this and to take very well care of the piercing..you aren't going to be able to wear tight clothing around the piercing either. Your parents need to be well informed of how to care for the piercing and what to do in a situation. The pain is very minimal in most cases..but everyones body is different. Just keep those things in mind...if you have to make a note of them so that you know...although your piercer should tell you all of these things. And ... by the way if you need help finding a piercer..get a phonebook or use www.google.com and type in your city and what you're looking for..check them out well see if they sound legitmate...if you're younger and have a parent going with you, let them help you, they probably have a better sense of what's phony and what's real, you need to call the piercer before you go in, check on pricing, what age they will do and if they will pierce a minor with parental consent..not every place will do that...and I don't know of..well any around here that will pierce a minor without a parent..but you can try your luck. If you have any questions about what to do..you need to ask your piercer..they know best and they're the one who has the license in this field (make sure they have a license, otherwise they aren't legal). Hey my parents talked it over and said as soon as I do the chores and get the money I can get it done. I seen the needle on the enternet and it scared me..because it looked big, 2 of my friends have it and said it did not hurt at all, and most people say it dosent. Thats the BIGGEST thing Im worried about, the pain. But I REALLLLLYYY want it so Im gona be strong and take the peoples advice that it dosent hurt. And while Im siting in that chair I'll keep saying to myslef its not gona hurt and beofr I finsh saying hurt its gona be done and Im gone be like wow..really? its done already? and I know I'll be happy once its done and I know Im not gona die from some pain. Well I Was 12 When I Had My Belly Button Pierced Year Seven In School, I Kept Asking Me Mum To See If I Could Get It Done But She Kept Saying No, But She Got Sick Off Me Askin And Finally Agreed ! I Went Into The Shop With My Lil Cousin Who Was 8 At The Time, & My Big Cousin Who Was 14 Then =) & They Was Both Getting Their Ears Pierced For The 3rd Time ! I Walked Up To The Counter Told The Women What i Wonted Done, I Had To Answer A Couple Off Questions, And The She Asked Me If I Wonted A Belly Bar Or A Belly Ring, I Said A Belly Bar Because There Much More Safer ! & I Picked Which One I Wonted. She Went To Steralize It For 10 Minites, & Then Called Me Through,I Had To Lay Down In This Dentist Chair, So She Could Look At My Belly Button, & Then I Had To Stand Up, She Marked My Belly Button With A Purple Marker, To Show Were It Was Gonna Go Through, & Then I Had To Lay Back Down. After She Marked It She Froze It, But They Dont Free It Properly, They Only Free The Main Bit, She Put A Clamp On My Belly, Which Does Not Hurt By The Way Soo Who Every Says It Does Is Lieing ! & Then She Told Me To Count To Three, I got To Two & I Felt A Small Pinch & It Was Down The Belly Bar Was In And I Was Ready To Go To Macdonalds Teehee, Soo Get It Done, It Doesnt Hurt ! Ignore The Plonkers Who Says It Does, It Doesnt Trust Me, My Little Sister Got Her Tounge Done When She Was 12 In Spain, & That Didnt Hurt Her Soo Am Sure Yu Can Put Up With Yah Belly Button !

i'm getting my belly button pierced this evening but i want to tell everyone about when i went with my best friend to go get it done - well i wasn't allowed to get it done but she was so i came to watch and we went to the first place and they said no under 16;s ( by the way were both 13) we went to a dodgier looking place then but once we got inside the guy seemed nice and he said it doesn't matter what age you are . the place was reasonably clean and she said it did hurt but you can get through it because it doesn't last for more then five seconds . she got a belly bar in which was not recomended ( oh and by the way we both have v. flat stomachs , just letting you know cuz some people said it was a problem if it wasn't enough skin to pierce) anyway she got a belly bar in , not a ring and they said it was fine , the bellybar turned out to be to big for her stomach and when she sat down it pushed into her stomach . it started to get a little crusty in the upper hole and a light bit of puss used to come out , but she loved it and she thought it might be infected but she put savlon on it every night and it turned out just fine - hope that helped anyone whos thinking of getting a piercing now back to my piercing well i'm getting it pierced in the same place to , and i am fine about getting the piercing ... but i have one problem , i'm going on holidays in 5 days and i'm going for 14 days and i'm on a boat meaning i'llbe in swimming pools and the sea every day . im just wondering will this be a problem ?? and is there anything i should be worried about (e.g. infection) because when i'm abroad there wont be anyone to help me please reply soon thanks everyone XxXxXxXxXxXxXxXXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxXxX

hey ladies. I have had my belly ring for a week now, this is what i can share wiht you. Does it hurt? For the split second when that thick needle is pushed through, yes, it hurts alot, but after that second, you dont feel a thing. It takes 4 months to heal, and must be cleaned twice a day for everyday of thoes 4 months if you wish to avoid infection. Protex soap will do. if you are going for it, you must realise it will take months to heal properly, and stay red for months. After the 4 months, you can then change it. If you change it before then, you risk infection. If you miss a cleaning, you risk putting the healing process back to scratch. PLEASE dont go for it if you are not going to commit to cleaning it properly, it does take time, if you do it properly, no infection. Mine is looking beautiful, red, but beautiful. Hope i helped some people.

hey if you are thinking about getting your belly button pierced go for it you have nothing to worry about you can hardly feel the clamp well then you can not fell the needle either the person pulls the clamp together and then sticks the needle through you do not feel a thing until he or she puts the ring or barbell in. for girls that are trying to get it done make sure that the person who is doing it opens the pack right in-front of you there is nothing to worry about if you really want it & are not afraid & also have your parents permission go for it !!!!! just dont lay on it or play around with it because it will get infected but make sure that you clean it 3-4 times per. day if you have any question just e-mail me or aim me (E-mail:sw33theart94@aol.com & aim sw33theart94) -Aaliyha

kay, first of all, nobody can really tell you if it would hurt you or not. everybody has a different tolerance to pain. I think alot of you probably just come on here just to hear someone tell you it doesnt hurt at all so you'll be less scared when you do it. If you don't think you can deal with it, don't get it done. In my opinion, it didn't hurt at all. The clamp was the worst part.. you hardly feel the needle go in. If you cant deal with the ammount of pain getting it done would put you through.. then chances are you won't be able to get any other piercing. bellybutton is the piercing that hurts the least out of them all, even your ears. I know it's a little intimidating just the thought of a needle being pulled through your stomach.. but it's pretty painless. I've never heard of anyone who cried, or even told me it hurt after getting it done. If you pinch your belly button you'll notice there's barely any feeling in it anyways.. it's just a small pinch. I would say, your average person would be able to deal with it. [: ..hope this helped. [¢¾]

When I had my belly button pierced it felt like a small pinch, like a pinch you get when the dentist gives you Novocaine. Unfortunately the artist didn't warn me that you are supposed to have a ring the first few days instead of a stud. The piercing began to stretch and the ball of the stud began to get sucked into the hole. Then it got infected, so now I have a fairly big scar above my belly button. But to answer your question, it's not bad at all. ^-^

I sure hope belly button piercing doesn't hurt! i dont want to get my belly button pierced, but that is because i dont care to show off my gut. I'm not actually a licensed piercist, but i do give my friends various piercings when the desire arises. i have pierced a few belly buttons but none have got infected. the only things i havent pierced is a lip or anything between ur legs!

i am 13 my mom will let me get my belly button pierced and i don't care if it hurts but some people said in Mississippi where i live that even with a parent signature that you cant get it done until like your 16 well i live in Alabama in the summer with mom and i cant get it down there but i don't want to wait that long is it true i cant get it done in Mississippi??

i had my belly button pierced with a gun.. (with out my parents knowing) it was the WRONG WAY..a week after i went to change the ring n put the real belly one.. n guess what it wouldn't fit so i just let it close.. i thought it would hurt like hell .. but it doesn't AT ALL.. i dd it when i was 13.. now I'm14 n i wanna get it done the right way me n 3 of my friends wanna go.. but i donno whats stopping me!

Hey I got my bellybutton pierced today and last night I was reading all these answers to see if it would hurt! Girls who want to get it done, make sure you go to a place thats well known. I went to the place my friends have gone to so you know where it is and that its clean etc. First thingg, before you get it pierced make SURE that everything is sterilzed before you do anyy piercing. ok the big question... did it hurt?? it hurt A BIT... it only hurt when the needle first went in afterwards you dont feel a thing... its over before you even know it! Afterwards make sure you take good care of it so it doesn't get infected... other then that it is definitly worth getting!!!!

i pierced my belly button by my self & it didnt hurt & i had to get a surgecal steel bent barbell & i didnt know so i put a sterling silver in there & it didnt get infected but dont ever pierce it ur self cuz if something goes wrong u could damage ur stomach lining... but luckily i did mine purfect ... at leats thats what the doctor said...!

I had the top of my belly pierced when i was 12. It didnt't hurt a little bit it was like a small pinch. The worst bit was when they froze it my belly went white.Then when i was 13 i had the bottom of my belly pierced without my dad or mum knowing (my friends dad took me). This one one less pain full then the top it didnt't hurt at all. So NO!!!!! It doesnt't hurt at all. All you people who want it done go get it done.

i got my belly button pierced with a rifile. my dad shot my stomach and it hurt really bad. i dont think anyone should try this. i now suffer from sever stomach problems. but i do have it peirced i have a lot of scars on my belly dont do it it hurts a lot

I got my belly button pierced and i was just turning 14 and i will edmit it i cried it hurt me alot. mom went before so i could back out of it(hoping i would) but i didnt. She said it felt like getting blood drawn but for me that was a different story.

Hey everyone i recently got my belly button pierced but they did it with a curved barbell instead of a ring.. A lot of my friends said that this is wrong and i should take it out but i payed 65$ for it so i really don't want to. So far it looks good i'vehad it for like a week and it doesn't look infected or bad or anything. Please help

I am getting my bellybutton peirced in a few days and my best friends brother is doing it. He has peirced his eyebrow, his tongue and a few belly buttons. Im terrified its going to hurt, but I've only heard a few people say that it does. But I am even more scared that its going to get infected.

hey every1 i pierced my belly button 5 times myself and it didn't hurt bet it got infected it turned black! but don't worry the only reason why that happened to me was cause i didn't sterilize the needle.

Henriette don't tell them that the only reason why it hurt 4 u was cause u used a rifle. don't worry everybody it doesn't hurt at all I'm i cheer leading and volleyball and it still doesn't hurt. :-)

i think it would hurt alot cause my cosin did that and she said it hurts lik hell but it looks really cool! and the only bad thing about it my cosin said if you want a different lik earing think you have 2 peirce it all over again!
