My F-1 visa expired on August 07 2002. However I was given till August 28 2002 to complete my OPT. I did not leave the US until the first week of September 2002 because I had been told that there was a sixty day grace period to leave the US - is this true and if so is it valid only if your visa and OPT permission is current? Will my application for a new visa be affected by this. Thank you for your help.

My F-1 visa expired on 12th August 2005. I am still in school and I shall finish my course by May 2007. What is the time frame expected of an international student to renew her visa.
